Guest Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 It's often difficult to get a good idea of which wrestlers make a positive impact in the ratings, but there is a trend developing on Smackdown that indicates Eddie Guerrero is such a wrestler. Three of the four markets with the highest Hispanic viewership of the top ten cities (LA, SF and Dallas – Houston being the exception) have shown bigger than normal ratings over the past few weeks. By normal standards, it wouldn’t make sense that Guerrero's segments would be the highest rated in the show, as they are not positioned as such, but instead it is attributed to the success of his character in recent weeks. It will be interesting to see how WWE features Guerrero in the next few weeks on Smackdown to capitalize on his new ratings drawing power. Many times, Vince McMahon will look to push those with strong ratings earning potential. credit: Wrestling Observer Newsletter
Guest Choken One Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 Nothing New... Although It's kinda Odd how The Hispanic Market is the hot new market though dispite only one maybe two Hispanic Dominant characters... At least Vince will push the guy (if not for the SLIGHTLY wrong reasons)...
Guest webmasterofwrestlegame Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 Off the back of this haven't they signed Carly Colon to a developmental deal? And at least Chavo Guerrero may be in line for a ncie return as well. Wonder if Matt Hardy is finding out if he has any Hispanic blood from his heritage...perhaps then he'll get a PPV match!
Guest Trivia247 Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 and if a overly desperate McMahon hires Konnan... oye maybe the Hispanic market will decrease but maybe Super Crazy or Psicosis....Hell We all want the return of... LA PARKA!

Guest Ghettoman Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 So not only is he the best worker on Smackdown at the moment, he's incredibly over as a face, if they go that way, and he's the hottest thing going on Smackdown draw wise?.... Well it's obvious to me Eddie needs to be bumped down to Velocity.
Guest AndrewTS Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 Vince: *covers ears* LA LA LA LA--I don't hear you!!! and if a overly desperate McMahon hires Konnan... oye maybe the Hispanic market will decrease Konnan's Hispanic?
Guest Choken One Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 Since Meltz said that Vince is strongly considering Eddy to Main event Series... That indicates Vince has smartened up...
Guest The Old Me Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 That indicates Vince has smartened up... funny guy. And the when Series tanks, because of some other BS hoss match, all the blame will fall to Latino Heat. I'll believe it when I see, and mark out if it happens.
Guest jester Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 I don't know guys. Business is up in Europe. So WWE gives them.... La Resistance. Business is up in Canada. So WWE gives them.... constant Bret Hart bashing and Kevin Nash beating on Jericho. So in order to make the most of the Latino viewers, Vince logic will probably job Eddie to A-Train a few hundred times.
Guest NoCalMike Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 This shouldn't come as any type of suprise really. When Eddie was a heel in WCW he was getting booed everywhere EXCEPT places like Miami, Southern California, and Texas. So obviously if WWE wanted to play up to the territorial scheme of things they could, however I just don't think they want to. I mean there has been a Canadian bias by Canadian fans for YEARS, and only recently has wwe pbp guys actually given in and acknowledged that Canadian fans are gonne like their home town guys no matter who Vince says is a heel or not. So maybe WWE should acknowledge this more.
Guest Dangerous A Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 An Eddy/Angle feud would 0wn your face! So I guess that means an A-Train/Angle feud then?
Guest Loss4Words Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 I'm not trying to stir HHHate I promise, I just think it would be hilarious if HHH tried to convince management to push him to draw in the Latino audience. It's not going to happen, it would just make for a few funny posts at least. HHH: "Uh, Vince, did you know that my great grandfather Geraldo Leveque fought in the Spanish-American War of 1898?" Jericho: "Leveque is French!" HHH: "Shut up!" Jericho: "Bite me!" Vince: "Guys, guys."

I think it wouldn't work though, he would never allow his locks to be defaced by being cut into a mullet or something.
Guest Choken One Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 Well... If Mack can be Black HHH can be Latino
Guest CanadianChick Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 Well... If Mack can be Black HHH can be Latino Heh, true enough.
Guest Korgath Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 Oh the horror. Maybe they'll come up with a Latino Hoss! Mi name es El Alberto Traino!
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 "Hello, I am El Huntero Hearst Helmsley." That one was absolutely great, the second attempt wasn't nearly as good.
