This may or may not have been done before, I dunno...but if has...LET'S DO IT AGAIN!

My favourite:

"There is no doubt Ric Flair is in greatese shape of his life"

(Spring Stampede 1999, after Heenan made the remark that Ric Flair was in the greatest shape of his life. Tony goes on about how Falir impressed the locals at a gym. I think he was attempting CONVINVE us it was true...gotta love the dedication)

I hate Tony so much, its just not funny...

I used to love it on Nitro when the front row behind Tony would chant "TONY SUCKS! TONY SUCKS!"

You 'da man, Schi-va-tone.

This has been the Taker Mark...who could commentate better than Tony

My favourite part of Tony's commentary was that even though Rey Mysterio Jnr(at the time), Kidman, Psicosis(Sp?), Eddie, Chavo, Juvi or any of the Cruisers were busting their asses in the ring, Tony would still be shilling the Main Event Of Goldberg and Horace Hogan or some shit.

Oh god. When he would never pay attention to the match at hand and go off about who side Sting's on. JR and the King seem to have picked this bad habit up.

I was watching Slamboree 98 and while Bobby and Tenay were talking about the match Tony was interrupting with crap about when Scott Hall would show up.

Anytime Lex Luger would perform any kind of move, whether it be a slam or clothesline, Schiavone would sell it the same by yelling, "LUGER!" in a high pitched voice.

In a Vampiro Hardcore match, he called the guardrail "The Rail of Pain". The Fucking RAIL OF PAIN.

Posted

"Someone who used to wrestle for us as Cactus Jack wins their World Title......yeah, that'll put asses in the seats" (as 400,000+ people simutaneously switch over to RAW the minute he's done with his little spiel)

"WCW, truly the #1 wrestling organization in the World" (throughout 2000, when dog shows and tractor pulls were beating Nitro in the ratings, and PBS Specials on the History of Antarctica were probably beating Thunder).

I don't have exact quotes, but just about anything Tony said on that final Nitro was gold.

I miss him, because he was fin to laugh at, and at times he was very good at what he did.

He oversold stuff and was caught for saying dumb comments, but you gotta love him.

Look at JR, the guy can look like a total jackass these days but wthout him, you'd all realise his signifigance.

When the manager or valet of whomever it may be. he would scream at the ref like he could make a difference.

Or When Ms. Hancock was dancing he would say something like "My mother is watching."

As you can see by my "Awesome Three" avatar, my favorite thing about WCW was the incredibly terrible announcing, which actually made the show a hell a lot of better. I have to agree with call me dan, the're are FAR too many strokes of genius by schivonie to remember. The one in my sig is pretty funny, and who can forget "IT'S STING! IT'S STING! STING!!!!". Also, on the same site as the link in my sig there's a clip where Sid knocks over Tony's glass of water in mid brawl and spills it on him, so Tony stands up and meekly throws some water at Sid's back as he's walking away. Genius.

When I read the title of this thread I thought Schiavone died. Tribute isn't the best word to use, lol.

I wonder just what in the hell ol' Tony is up to these days, I'll try and find out just for the general knowledge.

I remember when Raven and Sandman were in WCW.  They were fighting and Tony talks about how they need a Hardcore Title.  That was fine.  Then hje goes off talking about how the title can be like a swiss army knife, with like a knife, chair, table all attached.  He's doing this stupid little laugh "huh huh huh."  I just thought he was a total idoit.  Another time during a hardcore match with 3 Count and Brian Knobbs, Knoobs pulled a table out from the ring and Tony says he's pulling out another gimmick.  I don't know why, but I thought that was funny for some reason that he would say gimmick and not Table.  I'll give him some credit though.  He was pretty good in the mid 90's.  Liked at the end of BATB '96, he's wrapping the show and says "Hulk Hogan, you can go to hell."

This was the greatest post in the history of this board.  We're out of time!  We gotta go!  See you next week!

The last Nitro when Regal called WCW absolutley Dreadful and Tony says

Great words by Regal I guess he forgot who put his ass on TV

Posted

Tony to regal: Yeah we did a lot of crazy things around here. Like trying to push you, Regal.

After a Lex Heel turn: What the fuck is going on here!

Spring Stampede 99 - Tony explains during the hardcore match that the trash can lids don't hurt, but DO make a cool noise. No joke.

When Hogan dropped the leg - "You know I never thought I'd be calling this man yellow, you know he may be wearing red but he's wearing red AND yellow." Huh?

Well, he deteriorated into crap, but he was good for a while. I think he just completely went into shill mode too much after a while, and then, when WCW got REALLY bad, he got unmotivated.

There are too many bad quotes to note (and I'm sure there'll be some fun ones on this thread) But his reaction to Hogan's initial heel turn something like "This is horrible, I don't know, Hogan you can go straight to Hell" Was actually absolute gold.

Random thing of tonight, Molly. mmmmm

(Sorry she just showed up on Raw)

Actually it was like this

"We've had to do a lot of crazy things, STEVE Regal, like trying to put your a$$ over"

He was great when trying to look cool when the new Nitro went on the air for the 3rd time.  With his pullover ghetto looking jackets and his greased up hair hanging over one eye.

I thought he did an excellent job considering how horrid those last couple of years were for WCW.

It always seemed he only knew about 3 moves.... and they are....

SPINEBUSTER!

POWERBOMB!

and the infamous...

SIDEWALK SLAM!!!

I swear, he called every other move Sidewalk Slam...

I agree with the comment about how he tried to look cool on the final days with his jackets and hair.  Although it's not a quote, I loved how he would do something like-

"Wow, what a great match we had fans.  And to refresh myself, I'm just going to pop open my ice-cold Surger right here." [Opens Surge, drinks it.]  Ahhhhh. [The Surge would then remain on the announce table the rest of the night].

He was the guy who was responsible for the Jesse Ventura line about taking a gun and shooting somebody as long as you do it outside of the ring.

You know, I wonder what ever happened to Surge...actually I think that WCW may have killed the product before it even had a shot..

The favorite Schiavone line here comes from Halloween Havoc 2000....

I think it was some time during the main event and the face of the match got hit with an international object.  Schiavone just screams, "OH!  He's DEAD!!!!!"

Pretty much anytime we see a vicious hit in a hardcore match or even in something like football, Schiavone's line is guaranteed to be brought out.
