Guest Dangerous A Posted April 30, 2002 Report Posted April 30, 2002 I hope Costas asks Vince why couldn't he honor the passing of Wahoo McDaniel and Lou Thesz? These guys were legends and Vince coudn't even show a picture of them with a bell salute or nothing. And why? Because they weren't part of the company? These guys were the reason half the shit the wrestlers perform is even performed. (Lou Thesz press, vicious knife edge chops, etc) What class.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted April 30, 2002 Report Posted April 30, 2002 Thesz was a ref for a WWF match way back, wasn't he?
Guest Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 I am not looking forward to Vince's appearance on Costas' show. He seems bent on making a bigger ass out of himself this time than last time (assuming that's even possible). Yeah Vince, you're a man because you can knock all 5'4'' of Costas on his ass. For every step towards respectability the Rock takes wrestling, Vince has to take it two steps back....
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 I doubt Costas even knows who they are, or cares for that matter. He's probably more concerned with setting up another worked "confrontation" between him and Vince to pop another good rating for his show.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 I doubt Bob Costas is going to ask him about McDaniels and Thesz because it's fashionable to act like you don't know anything about wrestling and not do research on wrestling. Acknowledging someone as a wrestling legend would indirectly acknowledge some sort of heritage or legacy, and everyone knows that wrestling doesn't have that.
Guest Redhawk Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 I hope Costas asks him why they put the title on Hogan. I mean everyone has been wondering, so I'd like to hear it straight from Vince's mouth. And I know Costas knows nothing about wrestling, but it'd be cool if he asks Vince: Why didn't he have a Black world champion until The Rock? Does he like the "What" thing? Why does he focus so much time on the older set (Bradshaw, nWo, etc.)? Why doesn't he give cruiserweights any TV time? How does he stay so buff?
Guest papacita Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 The sad thing is to this day I haven't heard them acknowledge Rock as a black champion. As for Costas...wouldn't it be cool if he pulled a gun on McMahon and forced him to book a match between Chyna and Tazz for the Main Event of Wrestlemania X-9? Wouldn't it?
Guest Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 I hope he asks him how small his dick is. ------jp OUT
Guest Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 By the way Papa? That is grossest personla pic EVER. Please take it down. It's going to make fucking vomit. ------jp OUT
Guest Tony149 Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 I doubt Costas even knows who they are, or cares for that matter. He's probably more concerned with setting up another worked "confrontation" between him and Vince to pop another good rating for his show. Costas has said he was once a fan of wrestling. Considering Bob is an older guy than most fans, he probably knows who Lou & Wahoo were. It will be interesting to see if Vince does anything to make himself look bad. Or if Costas starts pushing Vince around where Vince ends up getting mad. I expect some XFL talk with a clip of Vince saying he'll make the XFL work. Vince probably laughs it off.
Guest NoCalMike Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 I would ask Vince if the profits he has made in recent years has been worth wiping out what little credibility and respect Prowrestling had. I would also ask him why he thinks Prowrestling is more popular than Mixed-Martial Arts(shootfighting) in the USA....
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 Even if Costas does know who McDaniels and Thesz were, who says that he knows that they died, and who says that he knows that their deaths were not acknowledged? Also, has the WWF ever payed homage to a non-WWF wrestler who has passed? I don't remember it ever happening.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 I think that might have been a personal request by Jim Ross since he always talked about Gordon Solie's influence on him. I think it's good to pay some sort of tribute to people who pass away because it shows some form of solidarity.
Guest Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 I would also ask him why he thinks Prowrestling is more popular than Mixed-Martial Arts(shootfighting) in the USA....Um......it is. Costas has said he was once a fan of wrestling. Considering Bob is an older guy than most fans, he probably knows who Lou & Wahoo were. When had Bob been a fan of wrestling? If he was then why is always taking shots?

Um......it is. I think he meant for Vince to give his analysis as to why it's more popular.

Guest MixxMaster Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 I'm positive we'll hear Costas ask about Hogan's past, and why he is back. I'm sure he'll ask about why Bret Hart isn't around. I'm sure he'll ask about the lawsuit with World Wildlife Foundation. I'm sure he'll ask a few questions about XFL (obvious). He MIGHT ask a question or two about the failed invasion. He also might ask a few questions about the draft and split. Other than that, I'm not sure...
Guest Mystery Eskimo Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 He should ask him why he feels the need to lech over EVERY SINGLE young woman in the WWF on our tv screens.
Guest Nater Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 Or why GTA3 is own on most of the matches! Why Vince talks like he doesnt know what hes saying.. Why Steph was given ANY camera time.. Why HHH jobbed to Hogan in any place.. Why Jericho is gonna job to Hogan..
Guest Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 Bob Costas certainly is a fan of wrestling. He was on Conan O'Brien a few weeks back, and apparently he had seen Wrestlemania X-8, as he called the Rock-Hogan match "amazing." So not only can Costas appreciate wrestling, he also has no taste. As for some of the shots Costas has taken at wrestling, some of them make me think he's being a prude (like the DX crotch chops), and others are right-on (the humilation/degradation of women. Oh, you mean to say that forcing a woman to strip to her underwear, bark like a dog, and then pour bile all over her isn't borderline misogynist?).
Guest Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 The sad thing is to this day I haven't heard them acknowledge Rock as a black champion. Well, Rock is mixed. Even if you didn't know his mother was Samoan, it's kind of obvious. So saying that he's the "first black WWF champion" would be a lie. Then again, JR continues week-after-week to call the Big Show "the biggest athelete in sports today" or "the biggest athelete in the history of the WWF." Gotta love revisionist history...
Guest What?! Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 Bob Costas was talking about Bobo Brazil giving cocoa butts in an interview on CNBC! So yeah, he likes wrestling. He just thinks some of the stuff like the Stone Cold Salute is kind of unnecessary seeing as he sees kids in the audience do it.
Guest NoCalMike Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 I think it would be hilarious if Costas asked Vince about Stephanie's "enhancements". Ask him if he thought it was necessary for her to get implants in order for her to get over with the crowd, or if Triple H just prefers his girlfriends to have big breasts. He could even suggest that Vince prefers his daughter to be like his main eventer's big and buldging~!
Guest Special K Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 Apparently, the thing that really turned Costas against wrestling was the Iraqi sympathizer angle.
Guest dreamer420 Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 I've heard the Rock refer to himself as the first wwf champion of color.
Guest TheMikeSC Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 I hope Costas asks him why they put the title on Hogan. I mean everyone has been wondering, so I'd like to hear it straight from Vince's mouth. And I know Costas knows nothing about wrestling, but it'd be cool if he asks Vince:>>> Guys, hasn't Costas said in the past---more than once---that he used to be a wrestling fan? Heck, wasn't he ring announcer at the Hogan v Piper match on MTV? He was also at WM 7, if memory serves. <<<Why didn't he have a Black world champion until The Rock?>>> Who would he have given the belt to? It's not like the WWF had a ton of good, over black wrestlers. -=Mike ...Atlas? No. Johnson (either Ahmed or Rocky)? Umm, no. Faarooq? Please.
Guest Posted May 1, 2002 Report Posted May 1, 2002 I think we all wanted to see a Koko B Ware title run in the 80's.
