Guest Posted May 3, 2002 Report Posted May 3, 2002 If history tells us anything, its that Vince McMahon likes reliving it. A lot. Survivor Series 98's 'Montreal' finish, WMX8 recreating WM6's icon vs. icon in Toronto etc. So going by this, we can expect Hulk to not only lose the WWF title at King of the Ring, but for Marty Janetty to have a run-in and give the lethal Flash Photography of Doom causing Hulkamania to die.
Guest razazteca Posted May 3, 2002 Report Posted May 3, 2002 using the historical data does the Goldberg "free agent" status mark the begining of the return of the BIG MAN era? Back then it was Disiel, Sid, Taker, Mabel, Ramon; today it can be Goldberg, Lesner, Taker, Big Show, Kane. Say it aint so!!! Hogan will probably lose the WWF title when Stephanie makes her return.

Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted May 3, 2002 Report Posted May 3, 2002 it was surviver series 1997 not 1998
Guest Risk Posted May 3, 2002 Report Posted May 3, 2002 Maybe Hogan wants Greenberg to be his successor. Like him or not, Hogan has charisma, Goldberg doesn't.
Guest Posted May 3, 2002 Report Posted May 3, 2002 Chris Benoit will be champ by the end of the year. Then, the next night on RAW, he jobs to Goldberg, gets pushed below the Glass Ceiling, and the Smarks will rage all out war against the WWF. See, THAT is gonna be cool. The Smart Marks will get their moment in glory, and then see it flushed down the shitter like Benoit's first reign (which all you Smart Marks know WASN'T BENOIT'S FAULT AT ALL! Actually, it wasn't, but I digress...)
Guest evenflowDDT Posted May 3, 2002 Report Posted May 3, 2002 ...as long as they bring back the Gobbledygooker for Survivor Series.
Guest papacita Posted May 3, 2002 Report Posted May 3, 2002 it was surviver series 1997 not 1998 I think he was referring to Rock's recreation at the 98 Series, not the original.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted May 3, 2002 Report Posted May 3, 2002 ...as long as they bring back the Gobbledygooker for Survivor Series. I somehow doubt that Hector would be willing to don the costume again...
Guest Posted May 3, 2002 Report Posted May 3, 2002 maybe with all the nostalgia, Vince could bring back such sucessful gimmicks as the Goon and the Beserker. Cause, you know, they made such a HUGE impact on wrestling...
Guest cabbageboy Posted May 3, 2002 Report Posted May 3, 2002 Don't you dare put Berserker in the category with the Goon! Berserker was cool as hell, he beat the Taker down with his shield and sword. What did the Goon ever do? Why is it I have a perverse desire to see Goldberg against RVD? It could be the guy who kept WCW afloat near the end vs. the guy who kept ECW afloat near the end. And it would be in the WWF, heh.
Guest Austin3164life Posted May 3, 2002 Report Posted May 3, 2002 If history is indeed repeating itself, then we wont see great WWF television for another year and a half and maybe more. It took the WWF from 1993 until 1998 to have their "dark years" with all those big men. Then Vince became smart and gave the spotlight to smaller and more versatile workers like Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, and Steve Austin. Bret Hart is out of wrestling, ditto for Michaels, Austin is at the beginning of the end of his career run, Undertaker as well, The Rock left for the movies, and Triple H is just there. We probably wont see new younger talents being pushed to the stratosphere until Hogan, Nash, and Undertaker retire. Either that, or whenever Austin decides to retire (probably 1-2 years). So don't expect the WWF to just jump into their new era because it takes a while......
Guest Ravenbomb Posted May 4, 2002 Report Posted May 4, 2002 as for the Goon: Any character even loosely based on the Hansen brothers, or the movie Slap Shot in general, is ok in my book, and my book is The Watsons go to Burmingham (With connections, of course)
Guest Nevermortal Posted May 4, 2002 Report Posted May 4, 2002 The Berserker was all about Scandanavia. And Scadanavia rules.
