Guest Risk Posted May 16, 2002 Report Posted May 16, 2002 There has been a long rumor that, years ago, Monty "Kip" Sopp-known to the world as Billy Gunn-legally changed his name to "Billy Gunn." Any truth to this?
Guest Mik at Cornell Posted May 16, 2002 Report Posted May 16, 2002 I personally don't know but I wouldn't blame him if he did. I wouldn't want to be known as Monte Sopp either.
Guest Posted May 16, 2002 Report Posted May 16, 2002 Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if he did but the way things are going I wouldn't want to be known as Billy Gunn anymore either.
Guest Some Guy Posted May 16, 2002 Report Posted May 16, 2002 I think he should change his name to Duane Johnson, maybe then he wouldn't suck any more.
Guest Posted May 16, 2002 Report Posted May 16, 2002 I think he should change his name to Duane Johnson, maybe then he wouldn't suck any more. Or Terry Bollea or Ed Leslie
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted May 16, 2002 Report Posted May 16, 2002 Ray Traylor or Fred Ottoman would get him some monster pushes.
Guest Posted May 16, 2002 Report Posted May 16, 2002 Ray Traylor or Fred Ottoman would get him some monster pushes. Also John Tenta

Guest Posted May 16, 2002 Report Posted May 16, 2002 Finding out that Monty Sopp is Billy's real name was about as dissapointing as finding out that Snow isn't Al Snow's real last name. Kind of ruins the illusion when you find out their real names huh?
Guest notJames Posted May 16, 2002 Report Posted May 16, 2002 All my wrestling-related illusions were ruined when I was 15 when I found out: 1. Hogan's real name was "Terry" and 2. Iron Sheik and Jim Duggan (I think) were arrested for cocaine possession when they were pulled over in the same car. The drug bust was bad enough, but what were the bad guy and good guy doing in the same car? Didn't they hate each other? After that, nothing shocked me.

Kind of ruins the illusion when you find out their real names huh? Al Snow's real name isn't Al Snow? What is it then? I thought all the guys with "real" names except Hogan and Jericho used their real names... I know Benoit and Angle are their real names, right? RIGHT?!
Guest Posted May 17, 2002 Report Posted May 17, 2002 Al's real name is Al Sarven......yes Benoit and Angle are there real names.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted May 17, 2002 Report Posted May 17, 2002 Al's real name is Al Sarven......yes Benoit and Angle are there real names. OK, thanks for clearing that up, just checking. How long has Mr. Sarven been going by the "Al Snow" name? It must have been a while, since I always see sites that use that name freely in biographies, not mentioning the Sarven last name at all. They always love mentioning how he used to be The Avatar though... hmmmm... Also, even though this isn't wrestling related, I was shocked when I found out Bob Dylan's real last name was Zimmerman.
Guest Posted May 17, 2002 Report Posted May 17, 2002 I think the first wrestling name he ever was using was Al Snow and that was always his nongimmick name. It is possible he changed his name too though!
Guest Ash Ketchum Posted May 17, 2002 Report Posted May 17, 2002 And I was shocked when I found out my dad worked for Madonna's father. No... I'm not kidding.
Guest Prime Time Andrew Doyle Posted May 17, 2002 Report Posted May 17, 2002 And I was shocked when I found out my dad worked for Madonna's father. *pfft* Name droper
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted May 17, 2002 Report Posted May 17, 2002 Yeah...and Ultimate Warrior changed his name to Warrior. Seriously? How messed up was he. Do people even take him seriously when he signs for things? "Ok Mr. Warrior....sir this isn't a joke. A bank account is a very serious thing." "By the power vested in the great blue lords about I require it for I am the chosen one and the oWn will own this puny planet!" "Security...."
Guest Posted May 17, 2002 Report Posted May 17, 2002 Well, if he legally changes his real name to his ring name just like the Warrior, maybe he'll disappear from the WWF suddenly and forever, just like the Warrior. tee hee. That'd probably put a smile on several faces around here.
Guest Posted May 17, 2002 Report Posted May 17, 2002 I knew a gut who was called Roman Warrior. He was stopped by the police for a traffic offence once and they thought he was taking the piss until he showed them ID.
Guest Posted May 17, 2002 Report Posted May 17, 2002 Did he cahnge his name to that or did his parents name his that way?
