Comments that don't warrant a thread

Should I use 30 bucks worth of giftcards for Madworld or Skate 2 (PS3 version)? As good as Madworld looks, and as good as it sounds, I just don't use my Wii much. I liked the Skate 2 demo a lot and I also figure it has a lot of replay value. But Madworld seems so awesome. Torn.

I will warn you, MadWorld is short. I beat it on normal difficulty in less than 4 hours. You unlock Hard Mode and two new weapons, but I haven't tried that yet, so not sure how much it adds. The two player mini-games are pretty goddamn good. Other than that, there are no unlockables, which I know gamers jizz themselves for. Some portions of the game can get repetitive as you have to rack up points (by murdering bad guys nonstop) to open up special challenges and boss battles, but really, the presentation is so slick, the controls are so well done and just the overall gist of the game is so awesome that you can't help but love the game, all negatives aside. I'd go 9/10, honestly. Maybe 8.5/10. Not sure I'd pay 50 for it, but since I traded crap in and only paid 10 for it, it's 100% well worth it. Oh yeah, it has a killer soundtrack too. I really htink you'd be doing a diservice to yourself if you own a Wii and not this game.

Anyone pick up Trivial Pursuit? Its £29.99 atm and I can't see it being value for money at the current price tag (RRP is £39.99!). I'm keeping an eye out for Scene It/Buzz on the cheap too - they worth it?

Echoing what BL said, I'd go with Madworld, it's presentation is fantastic, very funny and is great to play. Repitition aside, it is broken up by "driving segments" that aren't as great as they sound, and the boss battles are pretty standard. But you've just got to love the game. You can't help it.

And seen as though it's 30 bucks, it would be criminal not too.

I've got Mafia 2 and Godfather 2 pre-ordered. They seem interest games and I'm half looking forward to them, despite the fact I haven't read anything about them outside of what their basic premise is.

Speaking of AVGN, does anybody know if the DVDs he sells are any good? I've been debating picking one up for a while but from what I can tell they're just the regular videos on a DVD with a handful of stuff that got cut before being uploaded, and I can't justify $20 for a DVD with 30 seconds of "extras" as the only thing I'm really paying for as the rest of it is available for free.

Bioshock 2 deserves it's own thread. Is anybody else interested in The Godfather 2? It comes out in a week and a half.

I would have created a new thread for it a while back, but since the release data is in the far off distance, I figured it would get buried the closer we get to launch date.

Oh god damnit no this thread is fine. Torch all the other CTDWAT's that you want, but not this one please. Video games don't need a thread for every game that comes up, especially when someone plays something 15 years old and doesn't feel like finding the old thread with 2 whole posts in it and bumping it.

No no, I like the concept of this Smues (you have me confused with Cheech), but I don't like 100 page threads. It just doesn't seem this gets enough traffic to justify a move to monthly break-ups. That's why I want to do something but probably won't. Even the Movie/TV one is questionable now.

Considering that the thread was started in June of 2005, I really don't see any way of breaking this up from month to month, or really, from quarter to quarter. This is one of the rare CTDWAT that does exactly what it's supposed to do. Nothing broke. Nothing to fix.

If anyone cares, GTA Chinatown Wars is considered a flop, sales-wise:

Doesn't really surprise me too much. The DS market is mostly too young to be playing a GTA game, and not everyone who is old enough to buy it is going to buy the game in its first few weeks.

Maybe it's just me who is turning into an old fucker, but does a magnifying glass for the DS exist? I never had any vision problems, always 20/20 and all, but even just 30 minutes of glaring at the screen hurts my eyes.

I bought the system last summer mainly for the old school JRPG remakes. At the rythmn I can play, I'm gonna be good for at least ten years.

This might be a dumb question, but is the screen brightness maybe too high or too low?

I'm on the 2nd level (out of 4). I didn't had problems playing games like the GBA Metroids or Castlevanias, or games like Brain Age, just the RPGs because of the small text font.

I remember having a magnifying glass for my old Game Boy. Doesn't looks like a model exists for the DS though....

Does anyone remember the video game character, Mappy? I personally think they should bring him back, and upgrade his character with some actual realism, like make him into a real bad ass mouse cop against crime. I think they should make some new Mappy games for Playstation, XBOX, & Wii.

And while I'm at it........
