Guest Will Scarlet Posted May 19, 2002 Report Posted May 19, 2002 That sounds awesome. I always was a pretty big fan of Mean Gene, as long as they keep him far away from a wrestling ring.
Guest Posted May 19, 2002 Report Posted May 19, 2002 What is confidential and when and where does it come on?
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted May 19, 2002 Report Posted May 19, 2002 Atleast this time, the inside info isn't "only on the hotline, fans". Now they just need Heenan to do the show with him! PLEASE~!
Guest easye46 Posted May 20, 2002 Report Posted May 20, 2002 I'm totally in favour of bringing in the weasel. Hopefully they give Mean Gene some other roles.. hopefully replacing Terri Runnels/Michael Cole/Coach.. they are fucking brutal. Mean Gene is the man!
Guest Posted May 20, 2002 Report Posted May 20, 2002 2 shows are replacing Excess. The first will be Velocity and it will come on at 10PM Eastern on Saturday Nights. It will be a Smackdown show and air new matches featuring wrestlers from the Smackdown roster. The 2nd show is Confidential and it will come on after Velocity at 11PM Eastern. It will feature classic matches, inside info, and special features such as the day in a life of a wrestler. This show is for both brands.
Guest Anorak Posted May 20, 2002 Report Posted May 20, 2002 Seeing Mean Gene would be great for some old school novelty but i agree bringing Heenan in alongside him would really be great. Surely he could manage a once a week show like that which is taped beforehand? I'll give Mean Gene about a month or two before the old school novelty wears off, i'm sure Heenan would still provide some classic banter even after all these years. I'm probably alone in this but i'd also mark out big time if they ever brought Todd Pettingill back, can you imagine him interacting with today's stars in his goofy old school shtick? Comedy gold i'm telling ya!
Guest Posted May 20, 2002 Report Posted May 20, 2002 The only reason to bring back Todd Pettingill is to inflict immense amounts of pain on him, as he did to so many viewers over the years. BRING BACK THE BRAIN --------------------------------------------- http://www.americasguest.cjb.net
Guest Human Fly Posted May 20, 2002 Report Posted May 20, 2002 Now all they need to do is bring back the Macho Man, pair him with Hogan and Mene Gene and they can have a reunion show for Billionaire Ted's Wrasslin' War Room.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted May 20, 2002 Report Posted May 20, 2002 Does Mean Gene have a gimmick besides the classic "You know something, Mean Gene..." line in almost every Hogan promo? Didn't think so. He's just a guy with a microphone, although his scripts are even worse than Kevin Kelly and the Coach some of the time. As a guy introducing pieces, it's not like he's wrestling or doing anything to "overexpose" himself to the viewer. Hell, he'd probably be a better talent on the mic than JR, who talks about how someone "throws down the opponent like a double cheeseburger." If you're just getting on his case because he's old or has been around a long time... I noticed Earl Hebner's been reffing since Hogan vs Andre 88 (aka "HOW MUCH FOR THE PLASTIC SURGERY MAN!?!") and nobody here has been complaining.
Guest Posted May 20, 2002 Report Posted May 20, 2002 Isn't Heenan, like, dying? I don't think his health is good enough to do a TV show. When I was a kid I was afraid of Mean Gene. I don't know why. Maybe it was the moustache.
Guest notJames Posted May 20, 2002 Report Posted May 20, 2002 Not a fan of Okerlund by any means... especially in his last days with wCw. He just became annoying to me... well, moreso. Funny... Okerlund's always been a "Friend of Hogan"... Is this opening up the door for more FOHs? God, I hope not. And I'm not too confident about how much kayfabe they're willing to break with this new show. But if they're showing classic footage of both WWF and WCW, (hopefully not too cut-up or edited, and not involving the Orange Goblin), then I'll be fine with it.
Guest Slapnuts00 Posted May 20, 2002 Report Posted May 20, 2002 Isn't Heenan, like, dying? I don't think his health is good enough to do a TV show. That reminds me, on a serious note, anyone heard an update on Bobby's health? I hope he's getting better.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted May 20, 2002 Report Posted May 20, 2002 The promo I saw showed Shawn Michaels talking about Montreal. Not a bad subject to cover on the first show. I just hope they devote large chunks of the shows to cover subjects and not just have a lot of bits and pieces.
Guest Choken One Posted May 20, 2002 Report Posted May 20, 2002 This sounds good, I don't know what exactly will Mean Gene do...Is he interviewing them? Hosting? I'm sure he had a few ancedotes about being with the greats and living on the road.
Guest Posted May 20, 2002 Report Posted May 20, 2002 Lets all hope and pray that this doesen't happen again: http://tfwwrestling.com/wrestlecrap/genewrestles.html
Guest goodhelmet Posted May 20, 2002 Report Posted May 20, 2002 No shit. Reason #342 that the WWE is morphing into WCW- Mean "Whooo By Gawd" Gene.
Guest Posted May 20, 2002 Report Posted May 20, 2002 I'm not expecting much in the way of earh shattering news on the new Mean Gene show. My guess is that it will be watered down to the level of anyone barley even breaking character. But I'm sure it will be better than Excess
Guest Blue Bacchus Posted May 20, 2002 Report Posted May 20, 2002 As long as he says "Blow it out your ass!"... Gawd that used to crack me up.
Guest Posted May 20, 2002 Report Posted May 20, 2002 Hey, Olympic Slam, what the hell is your signature picture?
Guest Posted May 21, 2002 Report Posted May 21, 2002 Hey, Olympic Slam, what the hell is your signature picture? Fans of the Mega Man series will understand
Guest Posted May 21, 2002 Report Posted May 21, 2002 No shit. Reason #342 that the WWE is morphing into WCW- Mean "Whooo By Gawd" Gene. Well Mean Gene coming back is the least of my concerns... there are many more scary people that could show up.
