Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted May 21, 2002 Report Posted May 21, 2002 RVD just got elavated. This site, the 411 site and I'm sure others started to flood when he appeared to win the belt. To me this means that the WWE site must have flooded too...and they'll see that. So this fake win could have been a test of sorts and it could pay off for him in the long run. But more importantly...lets look at the present. The next ppv is KOTR...and aside from the tourney there are always a few matches. Will this be old blood vs. new blood redux? Look what they've set up: HHH vs. Edge Austin vs Eddy Taker vs. RVD Not only could they have old blood vs. new blood...but it could be real real good. Will they? Should they? Or will HHH steal Van Dams thunder and get his job back from Taker. And last time old blood won all three matches... Discuss.
Guest RickyChosyu Posted May 21, 2002 Report Posted May 21, 2002 By "last time" I assume you meant Fully Loaded 2000, right? In this case, I'd say the prospect of any of the new blood even getting those matches, let alone going over, should be taken with a grain of salt. I mean, how many times did they teese elevating Jericho before it actually happened? Bait and switch, that's how it's always been.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted May 21, 2002 Report Posted May 21, 2002 well....the only one who came out of Fully Loaded that looked like a joke was Angle...since Taker had to squash him. Had they capitalized on either Jericho or Benoit afterwards it would have been strong...but ratings weren't in the shitter like they are now. I do have the smeaking suspiscion that HHH will get the title shot though...Since it would be hard for the WWE to put Taker over RVD a fifth time... But maybe RVD is Jericho to Takers HHH...
Guest bcu1979 Posted May 21, 2002 Report Posted May 21, 2002 I saw it more as an attempt to get RVD in the mix than an attempt to start a legit feud between RVD and Taker. And Bradshaw out and RVD in is a HUGE step in the right direction, regardless of the crappy Dusty finish. I think the heat for RVD will move from Taker to Flair next week for re-starting the match. But I hope you are right. RVD/Taker would be a lot more tolerable than Triple H/Taker. But I'm not going to hold my breath on Triple H not being in the title match at KOR. And keep Edge away from Triple H. Enough careers have already been permanently damaged. The Austin/Eddy thing is also a temporary thing I would guess to build to Austin/Flair. But I would love it if a Flair/Eddy alliance led to Benoit coming on board and being Austin's next big feud. I'd also like to see an Austin/RVD alliance. Their interaction during the Invasion angle was one of the few positives of that whole awful storyline.
Guest Brian Posted May 21, 2002 Report Posted May 21, 2002 I have a lot more faith in Austin elevating Eddie than any of the others. Aren't they supposed to be friends? I can't keep track anymore.

I think you may be on to something with your comparison at the end. The similarities are kind of scary. Of course, maybe Taker really likes RVD and wants to "help" him adapt to WWF style. Maybe he went to Vince and told him RVD was a "project." I also agree with the comment above that if any of those matches did happen at KOR, the "new blood" would lose all of them.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted May 21, 2002 Report Posted May 21, 2002 The thing about Taker and RVD is kinda weird... Not only does Taker sell for him he also puts him over a little bit each time. With Jericho/HHH the focus has always been...Jericho can't beat HHH. Look at Taker/RVD: Match 1: RVD beats Taker in a hardcore match Match 2: Taker beats RVD at Vengeance...but sells for him and gives him a crazy old man look of shock and respect after the match Match 3: Taker beats RVD with help from Eddy after RVD kicks out of not 1 but 2 spots that he should have been beaten with. Match 4: Taker beats RVD after Flair restarts the match and a teased title win. MAybe Taker does like RVD...He must love the fact that he keeps going over him...but he has helped RVD's career more than hurt it (like HHH to Jericho)
Guest Human Fly Posted May 21, 2002 Report Posted May 21, 2002 I hope this leads to Taker - RVD main event at KOTR. If we've got to put up with Taker as champ, I hope it's matches like this then a plodding affair with HHH and UT. I'm pretty excited for Austin and Eddy G. hopefully Austin will be motivated for this one. HHH and Edge could happen, but you know HHH would go over. Why job Edge when he's just getting going?
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted May 21, 2002 Report Posted May 21, 2002 how many times did they teese elevating Jericho before it actually happened? Bait and switch, that's how it's always been. I think it'll be a while before we see the the tease come back, beyond Dusty finishes like tonight and so on. Teasing for too long has bitten Vince in the ass recently, when he made the HHH face turn about 12-18 months too late and the fans didn't care. That's why he only had a lousy one month title reign. To tease something that's hot in hopes that it becomes hotter, well, that can kill the whole thing. I hope Vince strikes the oppertunity while the crowd is wild for it.
Guest The Vanilla Midget Posted May 21, 2002 Report Posted May 21, 2002 yeah, that would be smart, but you just have to get the title shot back on the raw brand. or as somebody suggested have the KotR winner go on to face the undisputed champ, OR hold up the belt and have the KotR winner take it. because, unless they neglect stips, i cannot see any way they can get the title shot off the smackdown brand storyline wise and onto rvd, cos even if flair did get it, why would he (heel) then grant the shot to rvd (face)??
