Guest Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 It's recently come to my attention that 9 times out of 10, Smarks are too damn fickle. Especially when it comes to wrestlers. The next big things. Case in point? Edge. For years I always heard, even on this board, that Edge was gonna be a star. Edge this, Edge that. Now it seems people hate him, that he can't do anything right and nitpick everything he does. An even more dramatic case is Triple H. Why do you people think he is the devil? Evil Incarnate? The same people who say that where cheering for HHH in 2000-2001, now he is bad. Now you hate him. Not a fan no more. Why? "Because he holds people down!" You say? Bullshit. Triple H probably does play politics, but everyone in the back plays politics, but because he is with Steph, he must be the glass ceiling. Damn you hunter! I could go on and on about how smarks proclaim their fanship to someone then, when those peoples ain't the "In" with the crowd anymore, suddenly and magically dislike them. That ends my tirade. Flame On.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 I still like Edge, and I was never a big HHH fan, but I like him less because he isn't as entertaining now as he was from 2000 to 2001.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 I still think Edge is going to be a star. I like him in the ring.....his character just needs an overhaul. And I wouldn't complain about HHH if he was still busting out those 3-5 star matches he was having in 2000-2001. But he's been doing sh*t in the ring since he returned.
Guest El Psycho Diablo Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 IMO.."playing politics" is one thing. Sleeping with the boss' daughter is a guaranteed push. There's a difference there. -Shiro
Guest Risk Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 Why do these guys show up here, bash smarks, then never post again? They seem like real cowards, trying to stir the pot.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 He wasn't bashing smarks, he was bashing the Triple H haters.
Guest thebear Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 He has A Point though... Some Smarks can't stand one of thier wrestlers being popular... Think about it... According to some people on this board, Triple H should be jobbing to Lance Storm on the opening match of smackdown, while COWARDLY HEEL Chris Jericho is getting clean wins over Mark Henry. He's a COWARDLY HEEL FOR A REASON... He's never going to be a Triple H type heel, because he's 218, looks like a pretty boy, and won't get over that way. I just shudder to think what will happen if Chris Benoit or Rob Van Dam win the Undisputed Title, how long it'll be before thier on the unpopular side...
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 He's a COWARDLY HEEL FOR A REASON And what reason is that? So that he will have ZERO credibility in the eyes of every fan? Cowardly heels are fine in the mid-card but should have no place in the main event. Besides if Chris Benoit were to become insanely popular I would be extremely happy. I was watching that crappy "Diary of Chyna" and I thought "My kingdom for the Diary of Chris Benoit".
Guest papacita Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 Cowardly heels are fine in the mid-card but should have no place in the main event. Papacita disagrees with you there old boy. For you see...these so-called "COWARDLY HEELS", when booked properly of course, have the potential to bring a lot of...how you say..."HEAT"...to a title. Why...look at Hollywood Hogan! The bloody chap held onto the WCW Championship for about 35 years using nothing but "COWARDLY HEEL" tactics. The end result? Fans went bonkers when that horrid excuse for a wrestler, Lex Luger, defeated him for the title in 1997. If one was to...I don't know...ask me...I'd have to say that the fault with "COWARDLY" Jericho was simply that he was not given enough "TELEVISION" time to boast about his "FLUKE" title wins. You know...really rub those "MARKS" the wrong way. Get them all ruffled. And NOT involving him in rivalries where he plays second fiddle to a dog...oh, and Lucy too. It's all about the "BOOKING" old boy! CHEERIO!!!
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 Papacita disagrees with you there old boy. Old? I'm only 17! Yeah well if he was a proper cowardly heel then maybe it would be good....but he's not booked properly at all. As you pointed out playing second fiddle to Lucy The Dog helps nobody. He was booked awesomly in his feud with HHH leading up to Judgement Day....if only they could continue that.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 Here is the thing... EVERY HEEL IN THE WWF IS COWARDLY~! (save Brock Lesnar). It seems that's the only way the Wwf knows how to get a heel heat... I don't see what's wrong with changing tastes. One minute a wrestler might appeal to you, the next he might not. That is our right as fans.
Guest Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 I've never liked HHH or Edge. I never understood what people saw in either of them. They're mediocre "wrestlers" who have had good matches based only on the fact that they were wrestling more capable grapplers (Angle) or because of a spot-fest (see any Triple H match with Foley).

Guest cynicalprofit Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 Why are we fickle, nature of the beast. If you read HHH's one shot magizine special he talks about this concept...I forget exactly what he said, although I remember he was talking in reference to shawn, and not himself. Its kinda the way we is. Its like an underground band, you love them when no one else has heard of them but when they go mainstream, they sell out and you hate them. But if Rehab, which is an awesome white guy rap duo, sells out, I'll still think they rock.
Guest The Man in Blak Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 Yeah, 'cause bands expanding their musical ideas and trying to make a buck off of their music is such a horrible and dishonorable proposition. Here's my take: Just enjoy what's out there and if you really despise a wrestler or musical act or anybody for working their way up the ladder, then my advice would be to grab a drink and think about yourself and what you would really do if you were in their situation.

But if Rehab, which is an awesome white guy rap duo, sells out, I'll still think they rock. Look at RVD, people were like he's so awesome in ECW, why dont they give him the title, but after watching him jump to the wwf, god, he'd have sunk ECW single handly.(Although he has improved greatly) I loved RVD when he was "not being showcased" cause he busted his ass to outdue the showcasers, but when he got to the top, in the wwf, he kinda half assed it, case in point monday night raw against undertaker, although Im sure its sucking was more UT fault then his. Still RVD hasn't showcased himself like he did when he wasnt a main eventer in ECW, although im sure its partaily the wwf saying dont do that stuff...which is kinda like wcw telling guys like dean and eddie to half ass it to not show up the main eventers. If RVD went RVD 95 style in the wwf, which is sorta did agaisnt jeff hardy, which i think is one of the reasons for the depush he got, he would constaly steal the show, and he did with jeff hardy. But the wwf and their dont do it anyway but ours mentality is really holding him back. Kinda ironic that they said low-ki isnt wwf stlye when he and essa rios tore the house down on metal and actually got a crowd reaction, god knows the wwf doesnt want those.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 Everybody hates Triple H because he is supposedly the cause behind everything they don't like in the WWF. I don't know how they know all of these things but apparently Triple H is trying to hold everyone down.
Guest muzanisa Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 Papacita why are you talking like an older member of the British Aristocracy?
Guest El Satanico Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 Yes cowardly heels when used properly can be very effective. Look at Flair he's one of the best "cowardly" heels yet he was still made to look competant and like he only cheated and got cheap wins because he COULD not because he needed to. If Jericho was a proper cowardly heel and not made out to look totally incapable of winning any match without alot of cheating then no one would bitch about it. But the point is that Jericho was just made to look cowardly and nothing else so everyone has a right to bitch about how he was pushed. However after Jericho lost the belt he did become a cowardly heel that looked capable of winning a match without cheating his ass off. Why WWeee didn't push Jericho in this fashion during his title reign will be a mystery that we may never know the answer to.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 Everybody hates Triple H because he is supposedly the cause behind everything they don't like in the WWF. I don't know how they know all of these things but apparently Triple H is trying to hold everyone down. Personally, I never liked HHH and thought his supposedly "great" heel run in 2000 was kinda overrated. That being said, I could less about backstage politics anymore. So HHH is "holding down RVD", big fucking deal(not flaming you, Prince, I'm just saying). The ONLY reason I criticized the finish of the Judgment Day HIAC match was because the booking was fucked up with HHH winning, none of that, "Hunter is holding Jericho down again so he'll NEVER be in the main event ever again!!". I know smarks are supposed to be bitter assholes who are never satisfied, but dammit, the same lame bullshit day in and day out gets tiresome. Oddly enough, it's always the SAME people bringing up Hunter holding people down night in and night out and generally trying to whip the forum into an anti-HHH vibe by using his return date as their version of Pearl Harbor. I hate Triple H, but any sane person can see that blaming him for EVERYTHING bad that happens just because he's fucking Stephanie is just retarded. As far as Edge goes, I became an Edge fan during the ANgle feud. They've turned out two good PPV matches and look to be having more on the way, so fuck all the whiny lil Angle fanboys who can't seem to wipe his jizz off their chin because Edge is earning his push and I don't see anything wrong with it.

Guest Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 Who said I've only posted once? I've been on the smarks boards awhile, only i changed my name from TonyJaymz316 to SuperTonyjaymz. This wasn't a post to bash smarks, i was just getting a lil sick and tired of people stating their fandom to a wrestler then turning on that wrestler. I have no problem with opinions. I dont know...maybe its me. I had the same problem when i started listening to blink 182...back in like 97 I got tons of peeps listening to them, then when they got onto TRL, everyone basically started saying they sucked. Anyways, just wanted everyone to know Im not simply bashing anyone, be it a smark or a triple h hater.
Guest Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 The best contradiction old boy, is the fact that all the smarks have a long running joke, that anything that goes wrong in WWE will be blamed on Angle, or Jericho. Well guess what happens when the smarks around here dont like something, HHH always gets the blame, it is just assumed it was his fault even though there is no evidence to substantiate the claims.
Guest papacita Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Papacita why are you talking like an older member of the British Aristocracy? lol
Guest M Nyland Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Cowardly Heels should be booked in a way that always has them coming out on top or always being able to escape the worst. Pulling fluke wins on people that are at HIS LEVEL, running scared when people come after him, taunting them from a distance, stuff like that. Hogan used "group cowardly heel" tactics. He had his friends attack the guy while he watched and laughed. Could Jericho hire the Canadian Mafia?? It would give a bit of a push to all of them. Jericho would be a great Cowardly Heel Undisputed Champion if he was given the time to get the character over BEFORE he won the title and then he could have a HUGE gloat session after he won on a quick rollup and ran out of the ring like he was on speed. I would love to see Jericho laughing on a TV screen while the Canadian Mafia sneak up and beat down on Taker, Angle, Rock, Brock, HHH, or anyone else...it would make him seem like he had some kind of power amongst the other wrestlers (at least the Mafia)....and it would probably get him INSANELY over because by the time he lost the belt the fans would want to kill him... ...and then the next night on RAW or whatever he could just come out and say that the other guy was the lucky one and that it shouldn't have happened.....and he could become the cowardly/cocky bastard that WCW had... it JUST MIGHT work...if the WWE cares... but then again Jericho might not resign...so maybe Russo is reading this and will use my idea when Chris goes to the NWA........*yuck*

Ya know, i dont know if anyone saw this interview with Jerry Lynn a couple of days ago, ill probably post it soon, but in it he talks about why he was released and such. He said one thing that has stuck with me ever since i read it. He said that about half of his offense in the RVD-Lynn match on heat about a year ago was edited out. When asking why would the WWF(E) would want to sell out a chance to get someone over, he said that the WWE doesnt want wrestlers to get over on there own, if you try to, they'll pull the run from under you and take that shot away. Is this policy coming back to bite the WWE in the ass??? I mean they wont allow many wrestlers do what it takes to get over in huge ways. I mean they KNOW how to get someone over, we've seen them do it before with nobodies in the past, so why not let someone like say a Lynn, or maybe even a Val Venis, turn loose and catch on in there own ways. What this has to do with the fickle nature of fans is the fact that we dont get to see what we want. I wanna see that edited offense, and i love Jerry Lynn, but hell if i saw that offense come from someone else, then id turn to them and flame the shit outta Lynn for not doing it. Id say "We know you can do Lynn, so do it!", but after reading this, i now believe some of the holding back theroies that i always here. This guy couldve been huge, why sign someone of his fame if you dont want him to be huge. But the WWE policies kept him form becoming the next big star. By the way, REHAB ROCKS!!!!!!!
