Guest converge241 Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 other people have said it, but lets get a thread out there.. **IM TALKING ABOUT GODAMMN REAL LIFE LOGIC HERE** so HHH vs Taker is to be the Backlash main event, I know part of it was to cash in on Hulk, but the main reason was that they they thought it was weak. so now its going to main event one of the 5 big ppvs? please give a serious answer with any nonsense ones part of me says it was either HHH, RVD, or Hogan (again) or Austin (AGAIN) cause both rosters are dead on the face side.. look at the heels: Taker, Flair, Vince, Jericho, Angle, Booker, Show, Eddie, Benoit (im only listing guys that the wwe would give main events to in my eyes). Even with Kane and Edge injured thats still a serious imbalance. Personally i think they promo for the original Backlash match was better build up than this one. I just hope it leads to Taker-RVD at Vengeance, and they really play up their past encounters.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 Logic? Dude...this is the WWE, logic has no place here.
Guest converge241 Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 *sigh* i know i know, just looking for any thoughts on what the heck they are thinking. trust me im a big advocate of returning logic to the wwe.
Guest What?! Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 You know, if Vince McMahon could pick anybody from the Smackdown brand to be the number one contender for King Of The Ring because it's his turn to pick, wouldn't he just pick Jericho or Angle so even if they win, the belt is kept on one of his boys. Anyways, the reason that it's HHH vs UT at KOTR is because they were of the few who weren't booked badly the past few weeks.
Guest Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 Simple: Triple H needs to get all his jobs back plus more.
Guest caboose Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 I'm really starting to miss Rocky. At least his promos were fun, and his ring abilities weren't as bad as some would have you believe. He put others over and his matches were usually quite good to watch. But if he comes back I want The Rock ala 1998/1999. They can play him heel, but for being a cocky bastard that guy will get bigger pops than anyone has since Hogan at WM. As a face Champion he made his opponents look more than credible(Benoit, Jericho, Angle), and as a Heel Champion he was just too good.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 You Angleslut cronies don't quit, do you? Anyways, Taker cost HHH the title at Backlash and now the WWE is following up on it. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure that out. I swear, I hate HHH with a passion, but I defend him on this board more than most HHH fans.
Guest converge241 Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure that out. hey no shit. I understand the storyline explanation youre trying to say (which doesnt fit by the way because HHH did not get a shot because he has problems with Take, he won a contender's battle royal). Why did the wwe set up the story in the first place if they werent so confident in it and pulled the plug one day after starting the wheels in motion was the question.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 Hey, I'm just making sense out of whatever crap they thrown against the wall. If they play up the Backlash main event, it'll be at least SOME continuity, BUT, I don't expect them to at all, so bah.
Guest converge241 Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 dont get me wrong APO I see what youre saying , and personally i would have liked it if they had fought at Backlash and am not a HHHHater. I guess it was more of a rhetorical "why are they doing a match that wasnt good enogh for a little ppv at a big one". the upside to the match itself is that its not a burnt out one. HHH and Taker have only faced once on ppv one on one right? As opposed to Austin - Taker. Hey, I'm just making sense out of whatever crap they thrown against the wall. amen

If they play up the Backlash main event, it'll be at least SOME continuity, BUT, I don't expect them to at all, so bah. You never know. During the Angle/Holly match, they kept playing up the fact that Angle broke Holly's arm; that Angle really didn't care about who he injured; Holly is the toughest guy on Smackdown; and Holly wants payback. The announcing work there was actually relatively impressive. If they can bring up issues from 2 years ago for a relative nobody like Holly, can't they bring up issues from an April title match? (As an aside, I didn't like the finish of that match. Angle should have won cleanly.)
Guest Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 Theres another thing to consider.... Edge said that when he came back he would fight for the Undisputed title. We saw a few weeks back a spark of a Interesting Feud between HHH and Edge depending on how long it will take for Edge to heal, you get HHH in the Mean time going against Taker...and Like every Month The Undertaker will probably Job to HHH, but this time HHH keeps the title through the next month, maybe defeating Angle or Jericho the next month, then Edge gets healed and leads to Edge's first Main Event for the World title at Summerslam. Just a theory for ya
Guest converge241 Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 I think Edge- HHH will happen @ Summerslam if Edge is healthy.. probably Vince-Hogan and Austin - Benoit too.
Guest Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 I think Edge- HHH will happen @ Summerslam if Edge is healthy.. probably Vince-Hogan and Austin - Benoit too. No chance. The whole point of the Jericho beatdown from last night was for Edge to have someone to feud with when he gets back.
Guest Shadow Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 The point? Duh: HHH was cost the title by Taker at Backlash, so he gets his revenge shot at KOTR.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 Chiming in a little bit late, aren't we?
Guest converge241 Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 No chance. The whole point of the Jericho beatdown from last night was for Edge to have someone to feud with when he gets back sure theres a chance. The Jericho and HHH feuds are two ready made ones and either could come first. example: Jericho costs Edge the match against HHH. He could not feud with Jericho because Jericho is feuding with someone else, maybe Jericho gets injured. Lots o' chances.
Guest Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 I think Edge- HHH will happen @ Summerslam if Edge is healthy.. probably Vince-Hogan and Austin - Benoit too. Ross also said The Rock will back for Summerslam. Things change so much every other week it's hard to call right now.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted June 9, 2002 Report Posted June 9, 2002 Actually, you want a lack of logic? How about this: HHH attacks Undertaker and demands he be #1 Contender. HHH is then beaten by Test later on that night. Wouldn't this make Test the #1 Contender, because he beat Trips? It's a good thing Vince instated that Battle Royal last Smackdown to solve this mess... oh wait, that's right, the Battle Royal sucked and didn't prove anything. Trips needs to beat Test to prove he actually IS the #1 Contender, because any fool can get lucky and win a Battle Royal.
Guest Risk Posted June 9, 2002 Report Posted June 9, 2002 Off-topic: Why doesn't Triple H have to "elevate" any talent? Why doesn't HE have feuds with mid-carders? Why is it ALWAYS Angle or Jericho. Even though I am in the OAOAST, I don't always agree with AS, howver, I do agree completly with him about the mistreatment of Jericho and Angle. Frankly, I would take ANYONE over Triple H to be at KOTR. I mean...it was easily predictable to know it would be Taker vs. Hunter Growth Hormone. Ask Flyboy, he knows I predicted it.

Frankly, I would take ANYONE over Triple H to be at KOTR. I mean...it was easily predictable to know it would be Taker vs. Hunter Growth Hormone. Ask Flyboy, he knows I predicted it. The reason for this is simple: Jericho and Angle can make new guys look good. When was the last time HHH made somebody look good? Hell, even Undertaker can do that when he wants to, as is the case with his RVD and Randy Orton matches in the past. That's what really bothers me about the idea of HHH as champion, is he has nobody to work with, and he'll never elevate any new blood not because of political reasons, but because he can't work with anyone who isn't down at his level. Maybe he could have before his injury, but certainly not now.
