Guest Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 Ross Report -- June 7, 2002 Greetings from under the black Resistol hat from an Okie who really enjoyed his visit in the Sooner State this week. This week's injury report. If someone is omitted, it simply means that his or her condition has not changed since last week. Triple H – His right elbow locked up on him last weekend and he had X-rays done on Tuesday at TV. The X-rays were negative for any major damage but the doctor at TV believes there are some fragments in there that are causing it to lock up. Triple H had a MRI on Wednesday and has forwarded it to Dr. James Andrews for further study and plan of action. Edge - His MRI showed a tear in his labrum (shoulder). He saw Dr. Andrews on Wednesday and surgery is not needed at this time. He may eventually need it but should be okay right now with doing therapy for two weeks then he can get back into normal weight training. It will probably be one month before he is able to return to the ring. Referee Tim White - His MRI showed a rotator cuff tear and he has been scheduled for surgery on June 19. He is expected to be out three to four months while rehabbing. Godfather - He has been having some on and off again pain in his neck for the past few weeks and aggravated it again at TV this past week. He went to his chiropractor and asked him to do X-rays, which showed some abnormalities with his C-6 vertebrae. Godfather is seeing an orthopedist today at home. Mike Awesome – Recovering from knee surgery. He returns to the doctor later this afternoon and we are expecting him to get a full release to return. We are planning to send him to Cincinnati for a few weeks of conditioning. Maven - He broke his fibula on May 28 and is expected to be out four to six weeks. He is doing well and will be seeing a doctor at home next week. Kanyon - He is ready to go at any time. Kevin Nash - He is seeing Dr. Andrews on June 11 for an evaluation and we expect him to be released to full duty soon after that appointment. Kane - Dr. Andrews was happy with his progress and has allowed him to begin training with light weights. He is expected to be ready to return in about eight weeks. Random thoughts and opinions: I like the possibility of so many new faces that could be utilized and introduced over the next several weeks. Also, it looks as if several of our established talents are about to be challenged to contribute in a more significant way from a creative standpoint. I think our fans like and demand "new" and "fresh" ideas and concepts featuring talents who are not overexposed and who have the physical capabilities to execute and suspend the disbelief of event the most die-hard fan. These creative challenges will not be fixed over night but they will be solved in time. How much time? Your guess is as good as mine. Who will be the new breakthrough stars? Whomever the consumer accepts. What storylines will increase ratings and increase the desire to buy tickets? There is absolutely no guarantee what storyline is going to be positively accepted until they are tested. Who are the most underutilized talents in WWE? Several come to mind. Are all these talents contributing to the creative process and are they all ready to physically step up when their number is called? Not so sure on the first part of the question, it's sad to say, but I do feel positive about the physically ready aspect. Indeed we have plenty of work to do but we have good people who are trying their best to turn things around in their area of expertise. There is no lack of effort around here even though it is sometimes difficult to sort through all the negative feedback we seem to receive. I suppose that is just a sign of the times we live in at this moment but if you put yourself in our shoes, especially the creative team, it becomes very challenging to stay positive and to attempt to come up with the "next big idea." However, that is the proverbial lay of the land and those that can not take the heat need to exit the kitchen. However, if we invest this summer in establishing new talents, creating fresh rivalries, and not overexposing older, more limited talents I feel we will be much more prepared to positively compete with our broadcast rivals come the new fall season. Should be an interesting next few months as it relates to our TV product. I am very anxious to see who steps up and plays and who decides that WWE is not for them at this time. I am headed to Memphis tomorrow to attend the Tyson-Lewis fight and then it will be on to my old stomping grounds in Atlanta Monday for RAW. I hope you have a great weekend and I will see you back here next week. J.R. (Boomer Sooner)
Guest Shadow Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 Well, one should be a "duh"- RVD is already over with the fans, and he's already over enough to become the next main eventer- all they have to do is start putting him over, clean, against other main eventers, and they can have the title on him at Summerslam.
Guest Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 it looks as if several of our established talents are about to be challenged to contribute in a more significant way from a creative standpoint. Great, let Austin have control so he can job the whole roster out to himself.
Guest Army Eye Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 Kanyon - He is ready to go at any time. Great news. They'd be crazy not to push him on.. uh. whichever show he got drafted on.
Guest Posted June 8, 2002 Report Posted June 8, 2002 I am very anxious to see who steps up and plays and who decides that WWE is not for them at this time. If this wasn't written in the Hossese, the official company language of J.R., this is what it would have said... "I'm anxious to see how the reactions to the increased pushings of Test, Albert, Val Venis, Hardcore Holly, etc. I know that the fans won't want them to be pushed, but since when did we listen to our fan base? We will give Jamie Knoble a push until HHH begins to become paranoid and jealous again about the possibilty of someone with talent getting over. After Hunter's hissy fit, Jamie will face Funaki on Velocity for the next six months. It'll be a barnburner of a feud. As for Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho, I see a slobberknocker of a mid-card feud in the near future with Farooq and Mark Henry."
Guest Brian Posted June 8, 2002 Report Posted June 8, 2002 Jaime's the Redneck messiah. How could JR not want to push that?
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted June 8, 2002 Report Posted June 8, 2002 For those keeping score HHH now has two somewhat serious injuries heading into his title shot.
Guest gthureson Posted June 8, 2002 Report Posted June 8, 2002 Is HHH made of glass? Off 8 months, and he already has a knee and elbow injury?
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted June 8, 2002 Report Posted June 8, 2002 Kanyon better go to RAW. And, lol, JR got duped into attending the Tyson Lewis fight. Bah..
Guest Posted June 8, 2002 Report Posted June 8, 2002 Yeah, Kanyon needs to go to Raw, but knowing WWF he'll end up on the Smackdown roster. Raw needs Kanyon, because it's roster is really small compared to Smackdown's now and they need another strong midcarder. If he goes to Smackdown, he'll just get buried in low midcard or on Velocity.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 8, 2002 Report Posted June 8, 2002 So wait...HHH can barely walk on an injured knee and can't move his arm. He'll still win the title.
Guest Black Tiger Posted June 9, 2002 Report Posted June 9, 2002 Kanyon ought to be Booker T's partner in the nWo. They would mesh perfectly, both in the ring and on the mic. Notice how everytime that Billy Gunn comparisons get made to Edge, something happens to stop it? King of the Ring winner, falied singles feuds, shoulder injury.
