Steve Austin leaves Raw

Steve Austin left the Raw taping in Atlanta earlier today and will not be on tonight's show. From what I have heard, without talking to anyone in management, he booked a ticket home for himself and Debra and left Atlanta today. Originally, he was scheduled to face Brock Lesnar on tonight's show. I am not sure what the finish was supposed to be, but from where I stand, it was too early to do that match no matter whoever they planned to put over. The whole show had to be rewritten and Lesnar will now wrestle Bubba Ray Dudley.

From what I heard, no one (read Vince McMahon or Raw coordinator Brian Gerwertz) communicated with Austin as to what he was going to do on Raw tonight until Jim Ross called him yesterday. Austin then chose to walk out and go home today. It's been no secret that Austin has been less than happy with the WWE's direction lately.

We will post more information on this story when we get it.

Wow, I think this could be the end of Austin guys.

They seemingly gave him everything he wanted, he never jobs anymore no matter what, beats Ric Flair clean in the middle of the ring and he still isnt happy?

One can only imagine what was booked to happen with Austin...

I'm a true stone cold mark...but his character was beyond stale, he refused to put anyone over cleanly (thus passing the torch or giving someone the "rub"), he hasn't put on an even *** match since angle (FUCK YOU KEITH) over the summer (the vengeance match was shit)...it was time for him to leave...

now if someone could just assassinate HHH we can have that RVD v.s. KEVIN NASH FEUD WE ..........

uh...well maybe WWE should have started cleaning house a little bit lower down the workrate ladder before giving austin the shaft....oh well I can't have my pussy and eat it too i guess

Not trying to defend Austin's decision, but...

Why the fuck are they giving away this match ON FREE TV? Why does the WWE insist in blowing their entire load on TV, which includes Austin/Flair in an actual Wrestling match that would DEFINITELY DRAW on any PPV, instead of a mish-mash  angle that wasn't announced until the night of the show...

I can't see how either Austin or Brock would come out of this match looking ANY better, considering they have no connection angle-wise. No one would believe Brock beating Austin at this point and an Austin victory would just plummet Brock back down a few weeks in development.

How could he put on great matches? LOL, let's take a look a some of his last few angles/matches....

-Ric Flair. Great match last week. Would've been a good match at Unforgiven, had it not been a handicap match.

-Paul Wight. Who in the blue hell can possibly get a good match out of him at this point?

-Scott Hall. Should we even ask?

-Undertaker. See Scott Hall.

-Kevin Nash. Nash was displaying severe signs of age, injury and non-athleticism when they squared off.

Anyone else? I'll agree, Eddy/Austin promises to be awesome, but Austin can't just go out there and fight random guys from the back. Put him out there with someone that relates to the angle...or how about getting more heels in the Raw brand? The nWo already ties up 3.5, Eddy is still hung up with RVD, Brock tied up with Bubba, UT is doing shit while Dreamer is eating it on-camera, with no one else after that.

If you think the Ric Flair v.s. Stone Cold woo chop fiasco was anything more than 2 1/2 stars for SENTIMENTAL MARKOUT VALUE ONLY - then YOU NEED TO GO HOME AND KISS YOUR MOMMA!

Ric Flair and Benoit could drag good matches out of  severely intoxicated scott hall and an obeise paul wight --- they are great wrestlers.  steve williams is an ABOVE AVERAGE wrestler with a good gimmick...and now his gimmick is stale

What upset me are his matches with jericho -

Jericho v.s. Stone Cold 1: Free TV fiasco squash. DUD Jericho receives no heat or rub.

Jericho v.s. Stone Cold 2: Vengeance squash, screw job finish.  *  Jericho gets semi heat for cheating.

Jericho v.s. Stone Cold 3: (countless time between first one and this one, house shows, rehearsal to GET IT RIGHT)

nWo screw job, *  NWO steals everyone's heat, Austin get his heat back the next night and the coming eternity (ok it was only a month).  Jericho loses his heat permanently.

Jericho is an above average worker - give the Rock 3 matches with him and 2 of the 3 are INCREDIBLE.  Steve williams gave up.

He has become not so unlike Hulk Hogan.  His in ring product, although not as SHIT as hogan's, is below average, he won't let ANYONE get heat off of him, he is keeping the younger stars burried.  time to GO

Adios motherfucker! Now hopefully the WWF will recognize it needs to elevate NEW talent and guys like Booker and RVD will finally get the chance to run with it. Austin's a cripple so bye bye and dont let the door hit your ass on the way out

Whatever. He's there. He's not, it isn't like anything is actually happening in the WWF. I'm serious. There's nothing remotely exciting or interesting going on at this point.

I didn't miss him.

I wonder if it was a KOTR qualifier match.  I bet if it was he was probably mad because he thinks hes above being in the KOTR, and obviously Lesnar was going to win. Bah.

I'm getting sick of Austin's whining. He doesn't have it that bad.

What if they stopped the draft because they are planning to suspend or fire Austin. Kinda makes sense. They can't have two rosters with only Triple H, Hogan, Undertaker, Nash, Michaels, and Kurt Angle as main eventers. Michaels can't even fight anyways and Angle is gonna leave in a while.

Sadly I thought the WWE was going great two weeks ago.

By the looks of things, Brock was probably just going to join Flair's little group and get the beatdown in on Austin. I doubt they'd book a match, unless it was a "Flair screwing Austin by putting him up against Lesnar" type thing.. but Flair was supposed to be Austin's assistant and all that shite. Ugh, I hate this company.

Crybaby 3:16 is at it again. God ya know I respect Austin for  all he has done for the business but damnit thats quite enough. He had the WWE title just about all of 2001, most of 98-99, he was top guy for a long time and the fact that he walked out sickens me. I guess Austin is gone now. Good riddance though. What the hell is Beniot gonna do now? His motivation for coming back just walked out. So much for Austin/Beniot and Austin/Eddie G. which could of been **** matches for months but Austin is at it again. I admit the company is falling apart but fudge, Get Rid Of Austin!!!

Austin leaving not only hurts the company, but the fans as well, not to mention how his walking out basically screws Eddie and Benoit up the ass. Both of them are now without a solid program.
