Scooter by Mick Foley

Yeah... pray it's not as depressing as Tietam Brown. (I haven't read Scooter, but after Foley's first novel, it left me with no desire to read any more by him.)

I personally thought Tietam Brown was outstanding, but extremely depressing. There are moments in that book that made me feel as if I'd been punched in the stomach.

That interests me. I may have to pick it up sooner or later.

Tietam Brown was... okay. In dealing with stuff like school, girls, all the normal things a teenager deals with, it felt like Foley leaned pretty heavily on his own experiences growing up in NY. But all the weird shit with his dad is what threw the book for me, it was a combination of bizarre dark made-up stuff and

complete empty-headed selling out when it turned out his dad used to be a wrestler

.
