Guest HartFan86 Posted June 18, 2002 Report Posted June 18, 2002 If you don't want to be surprised cause your on the west coast or if you just dont' want to read it, then don't scroll down: You notice how Vince really didn't bury Austin on Raw, but was very, very nice to him by doing the "tribute" with the beer. You know, he never did this with Bret. He never put a pair of sunglasses and left it in the ring for Bret. It just makes me wonder if this is a shoot. Thoughts?
Guest pappajacks Posted June 18, 2002 Report Posted June 18, 2002 With Bret it was different. Bret was WCW at that point. Austin still has a chance to comeback when he cools off and realizes that he won't make more money or be more famous doing anything else.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted June 18, 2002 Report Posted June 18, 2002 IT IS NOT A WORK. I REPEAT IT IS NOT A WORK. Why in the world would Vince come out and yell about Austin, and bitch about Austin and out Austin down...hes been doing that for 5 years...those were worked angles. So if he did the same thing now...its supposed to be taken seriously? Good god. Tell me what it will take for you to accept this as a real situation. Please.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted June 18, 2002 Report Posted June 18, 2002 Tell me what it will take for you to accept this as a real situation. Some people still think Montreal was a work.
Guest HartFan86 Posted June 18, 2002 Report Posted June 18, 2002 I suppose BPS is right...but once Austin gets fired, I'll know it's a shoot.

He was only doing what Jeff Marek (and many others I presume) suggested he should've done on Confidential, to gain sympathy points for the WWE and to make them look like the good guy in this situation.
Guest Human Fly Posted June 18, 2002 Report Posted June 18, 2002 Since the WWE just lost one of, if not it's top star. They needed to come out and do some damage control. Fans will be pissed, the WWE is trying to look like the good guy so they're not pissed at them. Also, if Vince were to have come down and started ripping on Austin, then people would be expecting Austin to come down. When he didn't they would have pissed off more of their fans. I thought they walked the edge tonight playing Austin's music, and teasing his arrival. The Rock was probably the only man under contract that wouldn't have been booed. When Vince said "The man" earlier, I was almost expecting Goldberg to come out.
Guest Vyce Posted June 18, 2002 Report Posted June 18, 2002 I don't think it's a work. Although I cut some slack to the people who do believe that it is, since we've been conditioned by this business to question EVERYTHING. Plus, and I stick by this, the Austin tribute beer was jive-fucking-ass. What I think Vince was doing was a) damage control and b) perhaps keeping the door open for an Austin return.....sometime in the year 2007.....
Guest Austin3164life Posted June 18, 2002 Report Posted June 18, 2002 It's probably option A) Damage Control. He wants to keep the legions of Austin fans by making them think Austin is the demon and Vince is a saint.....
Guest Posted June 18, 2002 Report Posted June 18, 2002 Give it a few years, and I think they'll get Austin back in somehow. If Hogan and HBK can come back, so can Austin, assuming he doesn't totally self-destruct at some point. Both sides need time to cool off (and one or both needs time get a little desperate). Will he be in any shape to wrestle? Who knows, but HBK can't wrestle and he's back... jester
Guest razazteca Posted June 18, 2002 Report Posted June 18, 2002 Its all a big work!!!!! Montreal was Vince's heel turn This is Vince's face turn [/sarcasm]
Guest Posted June 18, 2002 Report Posted June 18, 2002 It's obviously not a work considering the fact that they spent the entire show burying him. Sure, Vince sucked up a little, making it sound like Austin could come back, but look at the personal digs at him throughout the show from Ross, Lawler, Flair, Vince, and Rock. Did you see when Rock threw the beer at Vince? He didnt do that because he wanted to nail Vince in the head with it. It's symbolism at it's finest
Guest RetroRob215 Posted June 18, 2002 Report Posted June 18, 2002 I think there is a better chance Montreal was work than this.
