Optical Sound Input....

Recommended Posts

So here is the scenario:

Once I get a PS3, I will be connecting it to my TV via HDMI. My Receiver does not support HDMI but it does have an optical input. I am assuming that the optical option will be some what of an upgrade of sound because it is being plugged directly into the receiver, rather then the TV.

So what about audio receivers that do support HDMI, is there still an upgrade to use the optical port with the optical cable for sound, or is the digital sound from the HDMI connection just as good!?!

Not just DTS-HD, but 5.1/6.1/7.1 lossless sound, which sounds AMAZING.

Besides, not too many BR movies have DTS-HD. But about 90% of them have uncompressed lossless. (which is actually PCM)
