Pre-raw discussion for 2/4/02

I figured we have all the "One and Only" threads, but I think with the new board it'd be nice to open up threads like this, for GENERAL assumptions about RAW.  Yeah, I know people are going to start the HHH/Steph threads on their own, or the nWo threads on their own, but I figure threads like these would be really cool to talk about what we've heard about RAW, post the matches planned, all sorts of smarky things we like to whine and argue about :)

On that note, out of the "big two" quetions I mentioned, what does everyone think?

I got a feeling at least SOME of the nWo will show, if not all of it.  I sense an Austin Promo where he rants about "screw the nWo, they aint gonna stop this son'bitch" or another generic austin promo.  From there it'd be cool to see the shadowed out figures of hall nash and hogan on the titantron... sorta like goldusts, talking about "the time." That or Vince rants and austin interrupts, and something like that happens

as far as HHH/Steph, are they on target to break up before N.W.O.?  or Wrestlemania?

With the JR interview of Steph on Smackdown!, its almost a given that her "alleged unfaithfulness" will lead to her and Jericho hooking up (something im SURE the smarks love)

Goldust makes his illustrious return on Monday, on target to reveal who "he" is.  (quote: Lawler: #### I hate pronouns, who is goldust talking about??) His promos are reminding me of 1998. Since "Desire" (we really ought to repost the link in the new forum) I've been pretty sure the WWF is going "retro" with more classical wrestling, the "glory days."

Any announced matches? Anything else that I missed (and I know I did)?  :)

I dont think the nWo will be on TV before the PPV. Perhaps a video of them like they used to in WCW.

The NWO will not show up until the PPV, possibly to screw Austin out of the title.

As for Steph & Trip, they seem to be going for the slow build with this.  Steph will suck up to HHH for a while starting with RAW.

The nWo showing up on RAW? Yeah,  Im sure that will happen, after they debut on a PPV of course.

Steph will have her proof which will probably backfire in her face.

Jericho will probably wrestle.....Saturn.

Rock wont be there, like the last two weeks he hasnt been on RAW...

Uh..what am I missing?

Theres no way the nWo will return on monday , they'll just hype the shit out of it and perhaps have those 'paid advertisements' or whatever. They'll no doubt milk it for all its worth in order to create added interest for the PPV, I wouldn't hold my breath about it.

okay so maybe this wasnt a good idea. I wasnt asking anybody what was going to happen, i figured we'd all throw out ideas and see what happened.  Though with less people on this board, maybe there just arent a lot of people who want to respond.  Stephanies plans always blow up in her face, anyways.  I still think we're going to see more of the nWo than vince going on and talking about it

On the original topic, i think they will play up the trips-steph breakup a little more, so that steph can go with jericho in the weeks immediately proceeding 'mania.  i say this because i doubt the wwf will do a screwjob turn like in the main event at mainia after what happened last year.

on the nWo, i hope we start seeing the "paid advertisements," because unless they start actively promoting when the nWo are returning, no way out will just get an average buyrate.  also, perhaps JR could play up the coincidence that the initials of the ppv are also nwo.  also, i pray to god that vince doesnt get spooked by last week's slight ratings slide and hotshot the nWo return

finally, im quite looking forward to finding out who goldust's "he" is, i just hope its not somebody really pathetic and that the fued is given some time to develop and blown off properly.

NWO more than likely won't show up, the HHH steph break up will continue to happen and lot's of 2 minute matches will happen.

I don't think anything big will happen on Raw. At least I hope not, as my cable company cut my service for owning $31 bucks even though I already paid $131. I could see the old nWo "paid advertisements" promos hyping their debut, but they'll probably show up at the PPV. They should do something where Vince gives the nWo "full access" to the inner workings of the WWF, so they could get into arenas, have their own Titan-Tron video, etc. So it won't seem stupid as why invaders have intro music. It would also get Vince off as the guy running the nWo.

I think Goldust is talking about The Rock, but I read it might be DDP. JR even teased it might be "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes. And with the old school talent the WWF has picked up it could happen. It probably won't, but it could.

If it's Dusty Rhodes OMG bionic elbow mania will be running wild.  But it'll probley be a disapointment whoever it is.

i hate to just take such a cynical point of view, but james900 is probably right in that "he" will be a disappointment.  i just hope it isnt somebody totally lame like godfather, because his new "escort" gimick is terrible and makes me want to change the channel whenever he appears.

well, here's hoping!

The Godfather was horrible before the 'escort' gimmick.  I don't want to see him at all.

I'm all for the WWF going retro and remebering their own history. But couldn't the Godfather have been left back in 98. Atleast Val can wrestle and Goldust does good promos. And Mr. Perfect is well Mr. Perfect. Well 3 out of 4 isn't bad.

I feel like this is turning into one of those "In the year 2000" skits on Conan...

Goldust will be on Raw and will reveal that the "he" he is going to get will be none other than, yes, that's right folks, Terri...

In a shocking turn of events Goldust will reveal he divorce her because of her she-penis...

In all seriousness though, I have a feeling it will be Jerry Lawler... Remember the interview those two had together back in the day where Lawler asked in Goldust was gay?  Just a guess, just don't come looking for me when the lameness of that angle goes down.

The NWO won't appear until the ppv.

I wouldn't be surprised if they use that to sell the ppv.

Vince will say that they are coming back at No Way Out.

The buyrate will be bad...

WWF will blame Jericho...

The buyrate will be bad...

WWF will blame Jericho...

that is a very unfair thing to say.  I think that if the buyrate sucks, vince would realise that it is due to the old world order and not jericho.  after all, this ppv is being sold on the nWo invasion, the jericho-austin match seems to be little more than an afterthought.

Weren't there reports a while back saying the WWF blamed Jericho & RVD for the ratings side? Which was why the RVD/Jericho feud was dropped for Rock/Jericho.

I bet they would blame Jericho anyway.

Vince will say..."well Chris, this is the first ppv you've ever headed...and we even gave you a great NWO angle...but you can't draw."

It just sounds like something they'd do.

i sincerely doubt jericho's gonna get blamed, since hes walking into wrestlemania with the title...

the build has not been around jericho, its been the nwo

as i said before, the beatdowns start tonite in the back, with a promo, but we will never see them "live"

terror runs amock anew

i bid adieu

Good point RicFlairGlory.

I do believe the HHH/Steph break up will be a slow building angle (maybe with HHH askin her to satay on  their room and when he is back she is not there), that will blow on NWO, when She cost him the match, and from then the HHH-Jericho will began.

Same for the nWo, maybe some beating for APA (or another guys, maybe the new AGD), like a "OMG what happen to the APA, they are KOed on their room", maybe the TMSpray paint back will be back tonight.

Early raw preview

Last Thursday, Federation co-owner Ric Flair decided that he would sell his 50 percent share of Federation stock to Mr. McMahon in order to keep the world of sports-entertainment alive. As the Nature Boy was signing over his ownership, Stone Cold Steve Austin entered the ring and snapped Mr. McMahon's neck with a Stone Cold Stunner as Flair's ripped up the contract!

Tonight's question is: Will Mr. McMahon be forced to unleash the nWo on the Federation on RAW? Tune in tonight to find out what the future holds for the Federation!

Also tonight, Goldust will make his return -- and perhaps he will reveal this mystery person he's been addressing in recent weeks!

Well looks like goldust will either compete tonight or just cut an in ring promo to revel who "he" is.
