Good god Portland State's defense is awful outside of one of their linebackers and a couple guys in the secondary. This team doesn't know how to fucking tackle.

Holy hell, Wake's safety Patterson is fast. That was a beautiful INT run.

And Skinner drops it at the 1! God, between that and the blocked pass on 4th down, Wake is seriously annexing the land of missed opportunities.

Which begs the question, how bad is Tennessee this year? Early season evaluations are a bitch but if I had to rank the SEC from 1 to 12 at the moment, I think I'd put the Vols at #11 ahead of only Arkansas.

I think I'd put Tennessee ahead of Arkansas and Mississippi State. And if Ole Miss loses to Vandy tonight, them too.

Also, Arizona stomped UCLA. That fluky win against Tennessee is apparently just as fluky as it seemed then--and not too impressive even then, given Tennessee's brutal performance under the oppressive boot of the Gators today.

Ahead of MS State? State sucks this year... good defense, NO offense.

I wouldn't consider MSU having a good defense after Georgia Tech destroyed them today. Triple option, I know... but still... they ran all over them.

Question: When's the last time Vandy went 4-0 to start the season?

We may be about to see them pull it off this year, if they can hold onto their 6 point lead over Ole Miss deep in the 4th quarter.

EDIT - The answer is apparently 1984, where they went 4-0 to start the season and finished up 5-6.

Bob Davie just called Wake Forest his "sleeper team" to win the ACC. Way to go out on limb picking the highest ranked team in the conference.

I think Bob Davie thinks it's still 1997, when he was coaching ND and teams like Wake were annual patsies for him.

As usual, LSU-Auburn is coming down to the final possession.

LSU has the ball around the 50 down by 1, 21-20, with 3:14 left.

TD reception by Brandon LaFell, LSU goes up 26-21 with the PAT to come and 1:03 left.

They're going for 2 because it means the difference between a 6-point lead and a 7-point lead.

EDIT - Conversion failed. Auburn still needs to put up 6 to win, though.

4th and 25 for Auburn with 32 seconds left from their own 78.

Even if they get this, they still need to make it to the end zone.

EDIT- Complete, but short of the 1st down. LSU wins.

Observations from today's Ducks game:

1. We lost, which obviously sucked. But making a comeback in the 4th quarter was exciting, and might keep us in the 21-25 range of the rankings. Plus it's not a Pac-10 game so it doesn't hurt in terms of the conference standings.

2. Darron Thomas looked great and although it sucks to remove his redshirt, at this point he should be starting the next game, and maybe every game after that. He looked like a young Dennis Dixon when he was in the pocket, he's got a bright future on this team.

3. Chris Harper may need to change positions, as it's clear at this point he can't throw the ball and he's not going to play over Thomas, but he can still be an effective weapon in the running game.

4. The Ducks' passing defense was a major disappointment, particularly in terms of the number of big plays they gave up. For a team with so many talented players in the secondary, they need to perform a lot better than that.

5. Jeremiah Johnson and Legarette Blount form a great speed-and-power running attack. Blount's hurdle on a touchdown run should be highlight reel material. If Thomas can bring some balance to the offense with some semblance of a passing game, the Ducks still have plenty of games and time to make some noise this season.

6. The cheerleaders looked as slutty as ever, with skirts that barely covered their asses, tops that were glorified sports bras, and routines that were only missing the pole. God Bless America!

Why does Oklahoma loose a spot in a bye week while USC remains untouched in a bye week? Not complaining just really wondering how USC has never dropped during a bye week.

Well, they really haven't beaten anybody. At least not on the calibre of Ohio State at home or Tennessee on the road.

First of all, it's Iggy. Second of all, beating Tennessee isn't really the same as beating Ohio State. Oklahoma will be fine once they start playing teams like Texas or Missouri.

Hey I guess OU's game against TCU takes on more significance this weekend. Not only is it a revenge type game since TCU beat OU last time they were in Norman, but now OU gets a chance to knock off their first ranked team this season.

I wouldn't say I'm worried about this game, but I'm thinking about it a lot. I thought Cincy would be the toughest non-conference test because of their defense, but TCU's D may be better.

I'm ready to root for Tennessee in the Cotton Bowl. Anything less and I'mma be pissed. I'm done with Phil Fulmer. I'm sick of losing these huge games against Top 10 teams. In Neyland! How do you fuck up a 107,000 fan home field advantage like that time after time? Now we have to beat Auburn or risk a disaster of a season. In the SEC you're lost forever with a 1-3 start.
