Guest gangsteruwa Posted June 25, 2002 Report Posted June 25, 2002 Good God, that crowd was horrible last night. At least it seemed to be on TV. It was truly sad that Dreamer hits the fucking Spicoli Driver (a move I haven't seen him hit once since coming to the WWE) and only two guys jump up and cheer. The crowd was dead for half the frickin' night. The only times I heard them pop big was at the begining of the show, when they showed Trish, when the showed Jeff Hardy, and when RVD came out. Sure the show wasn't that exciting to begin with, but I have heard better crowds on shows that were alot less exciting. That is sad when the loudest the crowd got was for the Women's match. I mean no offense to the Women, but that match was pretty lame. Normally I try to just enjoy the show, but the crowd kind of killed it for me. That and the main event of the show saw some of the longest pauses, and most awkward slowness I have ever seen (and I saw Undertaker vs. Sid at WM13). I'm done bitching......
Guest El Psycho Diablo Posted June 25, 2002 Report Posted June 25, 2002 It'd help if Lesnar stopped with the stupid bear hug spot. Restholds are evil. -Shiro
Guest jimmy no nose Posted June 25, 2002 Report Posted June 25, 2002 Well, the attendence was super-low which means the WWE may not want to go back there anytime soon. I always hated Cleveland anyway.
Guest buffybeast Posted June 25, 2002 Report Posted June 25, 2002 That is surpsrising as they generally always sell out the Gund Arena. Maybe the Cleveland fans were bored. The WWF tends to travel to certain cities frequently. Maybe they should consider having their Monday night shows in markets that don't generally have a televised WWF show.
Guest cabbageboy Posted June 25, 2002 Report Posted June 25, 2002 Yeah that is Lesnar's biggest weakness....he just stands around and pauses after every move. RVD made the bearhug watchable with his ragdoll type selling.
Guest Nostril king Posted June 25, 2002 Report Posted June 25, 2002 Maybe the gestapo tactics turned a lot of the crowd off.
Guest notJames Posted June 25, 2002 Report Posted June 25, 2002 It was truly sad that Dreamer hits the fucking Spicoli Driver (a move I haven't seen him hit once since coming to the WWE) and only two guys jump up and cheer... It is Tommy Dreamer we're talking about, right? Seriously, Dreamer had his time as ECW's poster boy for self-sacrifice and all, but his WW_ stint leaves a lot to be desired. Frankly, I'm surprised they're even bothering with him when they have an entire cadre of young, healthier guys who could have some time play time. But you're right, the crowd was both dead and empty last night, even for the really over guys. I hope Vince was paying attention while he was giving himself all that TV exposure.
Guest PlatypusFool Posted June 25, 2002 Report Posted June 25, 2002 I think Tommy played a great old school heel in his matches during the Invasion debacle. Although they were mostly on heat he was starting to get over just by being a bastard in his matches.
Guest notJames Posted June 25, 2002 Report Posted June 25, 2002 Maybe they should consider having their Monday night shows in markets that don't generally have a televised WWF show. Good point. Kinda like when wCW went to Australia. They were just starving for any kind of wrestling.
Guest Brian Posted June 25, 2002 Report Posted June 25, 2002 The yelled out "sucka" for Booker T backstage before he came back out after hitting X-Pac. They need to put Booker T on commentary, but I'm afraid we'll lose him in Tazz's place. Which reminds me if they're low on talent, why don't they put some of those wrestler-turned announcers in the ring. Better than a half-assed split roster.
Guest Hayabusa Moleman Posted June 25, 2002 Report Posted June 25, 2002 I love how fans are expected to cheer as if it is their jobs. Tommy's Spicolli Driver didn't get a pop cause almost noone gives a shit about Tommy Dreamer anymore. It was like a 2 minute match with nothing special in it. I've seen Raven and Tommy have wars in ECW in the past and that pathetic match wasn't going to get my approval. And who cares about a DVD that is named after some dead guy who most people didn't even know about when he was alive? If you are a Tommy Dreamer mark, great for you, but a crowd doesn't suck just because they won't cheer some has-been you are into.
Guest DawnBTVS Posted June 25, 2002 Report Posted June 25, 2002 Even still Hayabusa, the crowd was dead for the whole night. The loudest pop from what I saw(and heard) was the friggin X-Pac Sux and AHole chants. It's kinda sad when those are the two biggest pops, even the RVD chants were lacking.
Guest Hayabusa Moleman Posted June 25, 2002 Report Posted June 25, 2002 I too was surprised at the lack of RVD chants, but I think that was mostly because RVD had a long stretch where he didn't get any offense in. Also, a guy was getting taken out by security during that match and he was struggling and got slammed, so that took alot of people's attention away.
Guest Anubis Puppet Posted June 25, 2002 Report Posted June 25, 2002 Booker T's pops were severely diminished from last week, from what I heard anyway. When he Bookended X-Pac, the crowd went apeshit last week. It could just be the town, but.... If he keeps kicking X-Pac's ass, he'll be insanely over.

Last week was in Oakland, right, when he bookended X-Pac? It might be the town. I remember when I went to Superbrawl IX, in Oakland California, Booker T was VERY popular with the crowd, and the crowd was really into his match even though it was a curtain jerker against Disco Inferno. So it is possible that Booker is more over in the Oakland area than he is in other places. Or that he is less over in Cleveland than he is in other places. Or the crowd may have just been a "hard to please" crowd and thus is an isolated incident that nobody should read much into. Or maybe the sound was turned down by the Evil Production Gestapo That Steals Signs and mutes Unauthorized Heat. Who knows.
