Guest Downhome Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 After Rocky made that shocking apperance on RAW last week, and then what happened at the KOTR, shouldn't the RAW rating have been a bit higher this week. It ended up being only a 3.7, which is actually LOWER than last week. Now, I understand why the RAW where Rocky was on didn't really boost, as his apperance was not annouced, but this RAW rating has me stumped. Am I the only one who has thought of this yet?
Guest Anglesault Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 Could it be because the show sucked?
Guest Downhome Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 Could it be because the show sucked? Yes, I understand that. But it is quite common for a Rocky return to spike the ratings, regardless of how "sucky" a show is. From what it looks like, no part of the show, not even the begining, had any fans truly interested in it. After Rocky showed up last week, and then was on KOTR, I expected SOMETHING more than this, and I really didn't think it would go down.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 Maybe even the marks have become cynical and disillusioned
Guest Brian Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 Or maybe they turned into the first hour and got turned off?
Guest massivHEDtrauma Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 Maybe even the marks have become cynical and disillusioned (ding ding ding!) We have a winner!!!
Guest Razor Roman Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 Yeah they didn't announce that The Rock would be on the show that night, like they usually do when he's just regularly supposed to be on. Heck, I was asleep most of the show... he might have been on and I didn't even notice it.
Guest Perfect Plex Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 Maybe even the marks have become cynical and disillusioned You have to realize, though, we're talking about people who pop for Bah-Gawd Bradshaw. Their reality is not one we can even begin to comprehend.
Guest buffybeast Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 Maybe even the marks have become cynical and disillusioned I might have to agree with you. I have friends who are very casual wrestling viewers. They cannot understand why I continue to watch wrestling. All they say is, the show is crap, it is boring, there's other stuff on tv to watch that is more entertaning, etc. It's actually kind of embarrassing now to say that I am a wrestling fan.
Guest Austin3164life Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 Or maybe they turned into the first hour and got turned off? My sentiments exactly. Why would a fan want to tune in to the second hour, when the first hour you basically saw Vince McMahon brag about his tactics to destroy competition and "reach for the stars"? All the fans saw was Vince basically telling half his roster that they aren't cut out to be big superstars, and Vince semi-shooting on Kevin Nash (Nash looked a bit ticked at Vince's remarks). Of course people are not going to watch in the second hour. The Rock made no appearance, or was never announced to appear at all. Combine that with the fact that the show was lackluster, and there you have your reasons for fans either changing the channel or just blatantly turning of their television sets.......
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 Vince needs to blow off the split, but hes gonna stick with this crap no matter what because of all the other things that have failed that he's had to abort to keep from turning ugly. Sad, all that needs to be done is kill the roster split.
Guest Austin3164life Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 Plus the whole Vince/JR/WWE vs. Austin debacle might've caused a few hardcore fans to start packing their things and moving on. Question is, what the hell is there to move on to? NWA-TNA? Might as well call that "The Hoss Wrestling Federation"......
Guest caboose Posted June 26, 2002 Report Posted June 26, 2002 Rocky didn't spike the ratings because the only viewres left are the hardcore WWF fans. The casualists have long since lost interest. And all the previous attempted spikes (Flair, nWo etc.) all pissed the casualists off even more, so they know what to expect from a Rocky return. The casualists want new stuff as much as Smarks do.
