Nadya Suleman

I understand being desperate for one or two, but fourteen? Not to mention, the children and the ones that are going to end up with serious health problems because of this. Even if their doing well, right now, there's no telling what kind of problems they'll have in the future. It's sound to me like she's addicted to childbirth, and the feeling of having a new baby. But she's less bothered about them when they get older.

It's not often I agree with Bill O'Reilly, but he's right. This woman is unfit.

Someone needs to sew her vagina shut or at least cut her tubes up into millions of tiny pieces.

So this has been all the rage with the local right wing talk show hosts in socal this week.

Yeah, I think people who are outraged about it have every right to be. I don't actually know anyone who has defended her.

I do actually hope she manages to cash in, if for the kids sake if nothing else. The hospital bill is probably going to be 7 figures.

Someone estimated the cost of raising 14 kids at $2.5-mil...that's a whole lot of donations and TV appearances right there.

Her hospital bill is apparently 100 percent covered through whatever insurance she has, according to her publicist that was on Larry King recently. Yes, she has a fucking publicist!

But yeah, what gets me is that all of her children were concieved in vitro, and she has no real father that is going to be in their lives at all. I'm sorry, but how is that healthy to know they are without a father going into all of this? It's one thing if a chick gets knocked up, and the guy is just a deadbeat, but she KNEW going into this what the situation would be.

From what I read, the woman has quite a disfunctional family background, so she feels because of that, she has to do this apparently. It's just an example of not getting the idea of a vicious cycle basically.

My opinion of it all is that I think its really a sick thing, since I feel like she's just trying to get famous/rich by having all of these kids, and she's missing the point of emotional security for them......book deals, movie deals, and even a stupid reality show have already been proposed to her.

That's a whole lot of venom over some woman having some kids. So what? She obviously didn't deliberately plan for octoplets, it was a freak accident that she ended up with double the number of kids she was shooting for. Lots of weird judging going on here about a woman whose actual character is essentially unknown. She might be a raging nutbag, but she might also be the greatest mom on the planet, the story as I've seen it doesn't give much indication either way. You condemn her just for wanting to have a bunch of kids? Sure, when you already have six children it's rather odd to be trying for a seventh, but I don't see what the harm is, not like she's breaking any laws here.

Weird bit in that AP article:

The state documents describe Suleman becoming pregnant with her first child after a 1999 injury during a riot at a state mental hospital where she worked. Suleman feared she would lose the child and sunk into an intense depression, according to a psychological evaluation in her workers' compensation case...

But the 2001 birth of the baby "helped my spirits," Suleman said.

I know that standards in journalism are at an infamous low point right now, but, c'mon. So she was depressed in 1999 because she thought her injury could lead to her miscarrying the embryo... and then she was relieved in 2001 when it was born? The writer here ("Shaya Tayfee Mohajer", dear lord, what continent is that name supposed to originate from?) either failed kindergarten math, or is just really awful in her phrasing about two separate pregnancies.

If a woman is purposefully trying to have yet another huge batch of children artificially, yes, I do have a problem with that. It would be one thing if she did this a few times, and didn't PLAN on having more than just one at a time, but she artificially aimed for at least 4 more this time around. Why isn't she content with the six she had before? It's not natural to do these things when there isn't appropriate things in place. Again, I go back to no father. Raising 14 children with no father. I'm not talking just about the emotional end of not having a father for them, but on the end of someone having to be the breadwinner in this situation and odviously she will not be able to do so since she will have her hands full now more than ever.

She's basically bringing life into the world for her own selfish reasons, and anytime that happens, no matter what the circumstance, I have a problem with that because that means the child, more than likely, will not be raised properly.

What irritates me more about this than anything is that the taxpayers are the ones who are going to probably have to end up fronting the costs of these children long term, if the backlash against her debunks any potential money making efforts from this debaucle. Chances are she will have to go on welfare to support fourteeen f'n kids.

Here is the big issue perhaps out of it all, what the fuck was the doctor thinking?

Octuplet Mom's Doctor Is Investigated

By SHAYA TAYEFE MOHAJER

AP

posted: 8 HOURS 5 MINUTES AGO

LOS ANGELES (Feb. 6) — The spotlight on the mother of octuplets is turning to the fertility doctor who helped her give birth not once but 14 times by implanting Nadya Suleman with fertilized embryos.

The woman who gave birth to octuplets Jan. 26 said she always wanted lots of kids. "That was always a dream of mine, to have a large family, a huge family," told NBC's Ann Curry in an interview that aired Friday on 'Today.' The state medical board said it is investigating her fertility doctor

The Medical Board of California investigating the doctor — whom it did not name — to see if there was a "violation of the standard of care," board spokeswoman Candis Cohen said Friday.

She did not elaborate.

Suleman, 33, of Whittier, already had six children when she gave birth Jan. 26 to octuplets. The births to an unemployed, divorced single mother prompted angry questions about how she plans to provide for her children.

But the backlash seems to have extended as well to Suleman's doctor.

In a portion of an NBC interview, broadcast Friday, Suleman said she had six embryos implanted for each of her in vitro pregnancies, using the same sperm donor and fertility specialist.

In the case of the octuplets, the procedure resulted in six boys and two girls, including two sets of twins.

"The revelation about one center treating her makes the treatment even harder to understand," said Arthur Caplan, bioethics chairman at the University of Pennsylvania. "They went ahead when she had six kids, knowing that she was a single mom ... and put embryos into her anyway."

In the United States, there is no law dictating the number of embryos that can be placed in a mother's womb. Multiple embroys can be implanted to improve the odds that one will take.

However, there are national guidelines which put the norm at two to three embryos for a woman of Suleman's age, in order to lessen the health risks to the mother and the chances of multiple births.

When asked why so many embryos were implanted, Suleman told NBC: "Those are my children, and that's what was available and I used them. So, I took a risk. It's a gamble. It always is."

She said her life's goal was to be a mother and she had struggled for seven years before finally giving birth to her first child in 2001.

"All I wanted was children. I wanted to be a mom. That's all I ever wanted in my life," Suleman said in the portion of the interview that aired Friday. "I love my children."

According to state documents, Suleman told a doctor she had three miscarriages. Another doctor disputed that number, saying she had two ectopic pregnancies, a dangerous condition in which a fertilized egg implants somewhere other than in the uterus.

I think she was intending to have multiples (although not neccessarily octuplets). She told her mother she needed one more girl, and with a single pregnancy it's 50/50, but with 5 or 6 you're a lot more likely to have a girl in there. If she was meaning to have that many babies, and I think she was, that's incredibly irressponsible. It's almost a miracle these octuplets have survived, and relatively healthy. She said that she implanted 6 embryos, which is something most doctors will never risk because you risk having too many babies, and facing a moral dilemma, so she must have wanted more than one.

There's something very self indulgent about her love for her children. Even in interviews she's like 'I was lonely, I want this, I want that,' nevermind that's she's bringing these children into an unstable home, with no dad, possibly no money, and a mother that will likely tire of them of them as soon as their in kindergarden. Heck, even if she was lonely, six kids was more than enough to cure that.

I really hope the first child was a boy she named Freddy.

She came off like a lady who thought she was collecting dolls, not having children. Next she'll decide she needs one of each different race. She wants to repopulate the world in her image!

I amazingly share the same issue that Glenn Beck had with this, and that is that she would have never been allowed to adopt kids (1, much less 8 or 14) given her current situation (no father, lives at home, etc) but yet there are no regulations on her having kids through the in vitro process which I know isnt the same as adoption, but still.

Right. You would think that the doctors or whoever performed the procedure would have to do some sort of screening to make sure the person they're assisting is going to financially be able to take care of all these kids.

Did Glen Beck father any children back in his booze-and-drugs days? Now, fortunately, they'll only have to grow up with a firm sense of theatrical pathological lying.

If you paid attention as to why Glenn likes Sarah Palin so much, you would know that he had two daughters that were born with forms of Cerebal Palsy.

Complete sidenote, I just realized that Glenn and Sarah were born 1 day apart (Glenn's B-Day is Tuesday and Sarah's is Wednesday, both will be 45).

If you listen to the grandmother, it might not be a bad idea for Social Services to investigate. According to her, her and the grandfather take care of the 6 kids. The mother doesn't have much to do with them. She has never paid for the kids or put any money towards them despite her disability pay, and most of her money went on cosmetic surgery and IVF payments.

I have to believe social services would be all over this. They should be, anyway.

Well, they have to be careful. They don't want it to look like they're picking on her just because she has a lot of kids.

how about they should pick on her because she doesn't have a fucking job and can't even support the six kids she's already got without food stamps.

everyone who's ever seen me post here knows i'm a bleeding heart fag when it comes to human interest stories, but this is freaking ridiculous. some whore thinks she can just work her way onto the talk show circuit because she can shove 14 babies out of her, and i think that's sickening. the doctors should be accountable, she should be accountable, and her kids will be better off without her.

That's a picture from a while ago. She's clearly had a lot of work done.

So, while her six kids are struggling to survive and get everything they need, she's out getting herself Angelina Jolie lips? This woman is completely vile.
