Since this came about via 24/7's Roundtable discussion, I thought it'd be interesting to actually develop a list.

I'd put JYD above Abdullah, and Thunderbolt Patterson should be on the list as well.

...wasn't Aja Kong a japanese woman?

You thinking of Awesome Kong?

Aja Kong is half black.

Which makes her success in Joshi wrestling all the more impressive since rarely do "halves" get a shot at being a star.

I am a huge Scorpio fan, but I wouldn't rank him above Kamala.

Also, Jacqueline, Mark Henry and D-Von Dudley have all done very well for themselves in the biz. If not top twenty then definitely top twenty-five.

You have to find Norvell Austin and "Iceman" King Parsons places on that list. Austin, especially...as he was a trend-setter in wrestling for the South. When he teamed with Sputnik Monroe in the '70s, it marked the first time black wrestlers were heels in the South and teaming with white wrestlers. He would also be an original member of the Midnight Express as well.

Parsons was one of the best mic workers back in his time as well...his "roody poot" phrase was copied later by the Rock. And of course Parsons had the most electrifying move in sports entertainment in the BUTT BUTT. :headbang:

I would also swap out guys like Ron Killings and Ahmed Johnson and put up for consideration guys like Teddy Long and Slick. (Even though they weren't active wrestlers, I would argue both have had bigger impacts, especially Teddy Long, than Killings or Johnson) Pez Whatley could also be up for discussion as well.

Is this as Pistol Pez or Shaska Whatley?

I'd consider Pez Whatley's career as a whole, Shaska Whatley included.

I think Scorpio made more of an impact on wrestling as a whole than Killings has though. Just from the standpoint that he was the first guy I saw doing 450 splashes and was a big part of ECW's initial rise as a cult wrestling promotion.

I'd take Mero off the list because... he's kinda useless.

Marc Mero isn't black...

Neither is The Rock!!!

Techncially The Rock isn't African-American because his father is African-Canadian...

But The Rock is black, as he is Samoan.

Regardless, Marc Mero isn't black... He's a tanned jew.

I wouldn't say he was useless... He was great under a stupid gimmick and got over with the crowd and had a very decent career and was a very underrated match. But regardless, take him off because he isn't black...

I know all about The Rock's lineage..I was just making a joke, because there have been many arguments here about whether or not he should be considered black. As for this list, I believe he belongs on it, and rightfully at #1.

I'd throw in "Sailor" Art Thomas. He wrestled in the territories for a long time, and had matches against the likes of The Sheik and Buddy Rogers.

American= North American.

Also, it's not half black history month.

Geez. I said I'd take Mero off but EHME won't be happy unless I edit the first post. A guy who does a Little Richard gimmick is probably going to be mistaken a few times in his life.

After above comments here's a revised list.

1. The Rock

2. Bobo Brazil

3. "Big Cat" Ernie Ladd

4. Abdullah the Butcher

5. The Junkyard Dog

6. Ron Simmons

7. Booker T

8. Bad News Allen Coage

9. Aja Kong

14. Kamala

15. Scorpio

16. Mark Henry

17. Shelton Benjamin
