What was it, "The Jimmy James Rocket Ranger Patrol", or something like that?

Yeah, something like that. I have most of the eps on CD, so I'll check later.

It was really Johnny Johnson who was the main holder-downer of NR. I mean, he had Jimmy James thrown in jail, AND he stole Dave's woman! He was such a bastard.

But by the time Johnny rolled around Dave-n-Lisa were long broken up.

Yeah, but it didn't mean we had to like it. The ending to Newsradio sucked monkey balls for breakfast by the way. After I saw it, I was like 'what the fuck? that's it!!!!'

The ending kinda worked for me, but you have to remember it wasn't planned to be the end. They hadn't been officially cancelled until after that episode. I'm sure they might have had an idea they wouldn't be picked back up, but they couldn't put out a "last" show and then find out the show wasn't over.

That I liked. Especially the nod to Star Wars during one of the broadcasts.

I liked how they brought back the "gazzizzah" (sp???) from the Rocket Fuel Malt Liquor episode. Plus the Star Wars reference was awesome.

I wanna be on Rocket Ranger Patrol~!

On a side note, I hate A&E's stupid marathons they do on every freakin' holiday...sure, Law & Order is a good show, but I need NewsRadio, especially since my cable was out yesterday...

Hmm, this is a tough one since there are so many awesome episodes.

Here are some of my faves. I really need to re-watch some of these:

"Towers" - Yes, one of the few season 5 gems (along with "Apartment"). This is also known as the "Matthew becomes a punk" episode. It's not as funny on subsequent viewings (because the shock value has worn off), but the first time I ever saw it, I was DYING.

"Office Feud" - Gazizza, my dilznoofens! (I probably mangled the spelling)

"Daydream" - The one where the air conditioning breaks down, and everyone starts hallucinating.

"Catherine Moves On" - One of the few Catherine-centered episodes...and it's her final one!

"Apartment" - Partly because I can relate to the search for a nice Manhattan apartment. Also for the line "Now we dance, alien-style!". The alien autopsy/website subplot is really what made this episode. But Lisa pulled a dirty trick at the end! Grrr...

"Planbee" - Because Lauren Graham was both damn hot and pretty funny. Sadly, I have no time to watch Gilmore Girls to get my fix of her.

I'm sure there are more, but these were off the top of my head.

Oh, I also loved "Chock" (the barbershop quartet episode).

All good picks- Hell yea Lauren Graham is fucking amazing.

Is it cold in here or are you wearing an anatomically correct bra?

"Daydream" was the first episode I saw, and it remains a favorite.

"Pure Evil" is one of Dave's best.

"The Cane" has the best Phil and Dave together scenes, IMO.

And "Bill Moves On" is one of the saddest, most moving episodes in TV history, and is one of the few episodes in ANY TV show that has made my mother (also a NR fan) cry.

I was trying not to cry the whole episode but when Matthew read the letter Bill wrote to him I just lost it.

Great tribute to Phil

Wasn't David Cross in 2 episodes as 2 different people, also? He played Jimmy's nephew, who did magic & had the brief fling w/ Beth. And wasn't he also in Dave's old barbershop quartet group?

You know, the more I think about it, David Cross might have been in a 3rd episode, also. I think he was one of the guys working in the Photo Shop when Beth & Lisa go to get Beth's nude photos. I'm not 100% certain, so maybe someone else can confirm this.

I'd also add that episode to my favorite list. The 2 main storylines were Joe's gelato, and Beth taking nude photos for her boyfriend.

That episode was on today- Chris Kattan, one of the Odenkirks and someone else worked in the photo shop I think

Has David Cross become famous since NR or something?

It's funny that Chris Kattan was one of those photo guys, since apparently he & Andy Dick completely loathe each other now.

One of my favorite episodes is the Stock Market one, where Beth gets stock tips from Jimmy while Bill tries to steal them.

*Bill walks into Dave's office, dejected*

Bill: Dave, have you ever lost something very special to you?

Dave: Well, I had this dog......

Bill: I was thinking along the lines of a massive sum of cash.

Today's episode-

Lisa: Have you ever taken nude photos of yourself?

Dave: Mom- I'm gonna have to call you back

David Cross was in the original MIB, also.

The gelato/photos episode is just awesome. I love when Beth shows a pic to Bill, and he goes off on artistic expression, objectification of women & the masks they wear, then walks over to Matthew's desk and says "Beth is showing naked pictures of herself w/ a bag on her head."

Not from today, but along the same lines...

[Lisa is asking Jimmy why he's better friends with Dave than her]

Jimmy James: See, Dave and I, we could talk about... guy stuff.

Lisa: Guy stuff? I can do that.

Jimmy James: No...

Lisa: Yes, I can, try me.

Jimmy James: You think?

Lisa: Yes.

[pause]

Jimmy James: That Lisa's sure got some cute ass, huh?

And today:

Lisa Miller: Dave, tell me your deepest, darkest fantasy.

David "Dave" Nelson: Oh, no.

Lisa Miller: Oh, come on! You can tell me.

David "Dave" Nelson: No, it's too embarrassing.

Lisa Miller: Come on, please?

David "Dave" Nelson: Oh, OK. Ever since I was 14 years old, I've always fantasized about making love on the space shuttle...

Lisa Miller: That's very cute.

David "Dave" Nelson: ...with a space prostitute.

Here's a challenge for my WNYX buddies: Name all of the movies parodied in "Daydream".
