Is Chris Jericho working the Internet fans?

Do you guys think that Jericho is legitimately pissed at the smart marks, or is he working the Internet crowd for heel heat? Personally, I can't see the point of him working us. Despite our "holier than thou" attitude, we are such a small contingent of the wrestling fan-base, that it wouldn't benefit him or his heel heat at all.

Chris Jericho: I've got it! I will alienate all the Internet fans, and my heel heat will be so tremendous, that Vince will have no choice but to put me over HHH and make me the undisputed champion once ay-gain!

I conclude that his temper tantrum was indeed a shoot.

Jericho's remarks came on the heels of the Austin incident he could have been sincere or speaking for himself on behalf of the WWE opinion on how we talk about Wrestling when we are outside their business who knows.

i think it is a work

you have to remember that a lot of casual fans do read the internet sometimes, and when they read some loser smark writer say how great Jericho is, they will be inclined to share that opinion to seem smart

I think it is a work. He is just fooling with us, even though it might seem weird cause smarks aren't a very large percentage of WWE fans or anything.

It's a work, it's a very stupid one, because like Smarkzone said, it's pointless to try and work up such a small percentage of the fan base...unless it was for his own amusement. Most likely, it was a shoot.

but I just don't understand why Chris would really feel that way, because a couple of people at another site said his match sucked? I don't get it

he has tons of fanboys and fangirls at his site that go on and on about him, and he put it on his site to also include them, it just doesn't make sense

If it is a shoot, which I don't think it is, Jericho could have jsut been in a real bad mood or somethin like that.

I don't think it was just about that match. It was probably just built up frustration. In a week or two, maybe more if he is really mad, it'll be back to a grinning, happy Y2J

I would be inclined to say that it was a work. Not that I really care. At one point I was pretty big Jericho mark, but for awhile now, he is just kind of there. About the only entertainment I get out of watching him anymore is subconsciously thinking "Hey, it's a midcarder!" whenever I see him on the screen, or "Uh oh. Chris Jericho might actually be getting over with this promo, something get Triple H out here to put a stop to this, pronto!" and other witticisms that entertain only me.

I also hope there's not more meaning to this then it seems

Maybe Jericho's pent up aggression is due to him being released due to his contract not being renewed. If he's not gonna be in the WWE, why should he care about his site, and his fans.

Wait a minute! I've kinda been away from Smarkville for a couple of days, so maybe I missed something...but Jericho's not renewing his contract???

that would be news to me.

Uh...where did you read that?

Jeez, it's not a work, that was Jericho frustrated as hell, and everyone knows why. You can't see everything as a work, which is what alot of people do nowadays.

Well, then where did TestKick read that?! I just read the Ross Report dated June 28th and the only thing that Jim Ross said about Jericho was that he and RVD had the match of the night at KOR.

I didn't read that anywhere, I was just thinking that could be an option considering that there hasn't been any reports of his contract being renewed yet. I believe it runs out this year, and with the way he's been booked, it would make sense that he could be leaving soon.

If Jericho is legit upset, then I don't think it's just because a few people didn't like his match with RVD.

I think it's legit frustration from Jericho. Coming off the Austin departure, I think wrestlers are probably seeing things in a different way in the business. Especially now, that there are tough times with the product, Jericho feels his match with RVD at KOTR would've made fans happy (which it did) but a lot of net smarks also heavily criticized it.....

It very well could be legit. Wrestlers probably sit in the back and make fun of us smarks, ya know? We talk about the business and most aspects of it, like we live it everyday. When all most of us live is these forums and rumors from the net. I'm not condoning what he has said, but I could see how a wrestler could get frustrated about the smark community.

I think Chris has just had this huge amount of frustration building up inside of him ever since his non-feud with Triple H. He's been made out to look like a complete assclown (to quote Chris himself) ever since he got the belt. I think he's just pissed off at that and took his anger out on the Smark crowd, because he doesn't want to speak up and get pushed even MORE down the ladder.

If you ask me, he needs a vacation.

This is from the Byte This! thread:

Kelly now talks about Jericho's comments and about how right on they were. Kelly says he wants to get Jericho on Byte This in two weeks to discuss his comments

If it was a shoot they are turning it into a work now. That's my opinion.

I think Chris needs a good vacation or something away from the WWE.

What a lot of his anger probably is, is him working his ass off every day and night, complying with the crap WWE gives him to turn it into gold, and I honestly don't think anyone can do a better job of it. The day I got pissed with the WWE was right after Wrestlemania, where he main-evented defending the title, then the very next month at Backlash, he had NOTHING to do on the show. If I was serious about pushing Jericho, I would have either

a. let him retain at Wrestlemania, and drop it to either one of the HHH's at Backlash or Judgment Day so he could have gotten over as a legit champ

or

b. lose the title at WMX8 to HHH to send the fans home happy (though considering this was Canada, I'm not sure how happy the crowd truly was), then instead of bitching out at Backlash, have the HHH-Jericho Hell in a Cell match then for the title, and have Jericho regain it after a brutal match. This would have gotten him over as a legitimate threat to the world title, and gotten him over.

If his contractr really does expire, I'd say he was better off in another fed if only there was one with a TV deal, and not this pay per view crap NWA:TNA's on. MY friend said NWA:TNA is good enough to the point on that last show they had that he would watch it instead of the WWF if only it were on free TV.

*sigh*
