On July 2, 2001, from Tacoma, Washington, we were subjected to

RAW IS BUFF!!!!!!

You know what that means?

We are rapidly aproaching the last time Booker won on ppv!

That match actually turned me off Booker for a while. I think it was the Jericho/Booker match in early July that restored my confidence.

I thought they called that show.....RAW is WCW...and WCW is CRAP......

at least that is what Vince hoped....

Hell, we are rapidly approaching the last time Booker was on a PPV, period.

Let's all sing the Buff theme song to remind us of him sucking!

"I'M BUFF AND I'M THE STUFF AND THE GIRLS JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH! BUFF DADDY! BUFF DADDY! BUUUUUUFFFFF, HE'S THE STUFF!"

or, we can sing the Billy Gunn theme... AssMan..

I see the WCW launch failure on that date as the reason we had a lame ass "brand extention" instead of a sensical "promotional war".

Way to go Vince. Bury the thing you paid for. Dipshit.

don't be singing....Judy Bagwell says singing is the DEVIL!

Buff - "but momma...I really liked my theme song...and it showed me it's boobies and I liked them too!"

IIRC...he paid less for WCW than he pays Hogan a year.

How can someone be SOOO good at one aspect of business...and SOOO bad at another?

Methinks Vince is more lucky than good when it comes to things like who to push and what fans want.

That RAW was doomed to fail from the start, considering where they were (Tacoma, WA)

Had they tried that in North Carolina, Atlanta, or somewhere in the South, it might have worked.

wow that match sucked. it is almost a year ago to the big raw is ecw where dreamer and rvd ran in and ecw was raised from the ashes. the booker, bagwell match was horrible, and it sucked to hear arn anderson and scott hudson have to call that shitty action. btw, the bagwell, austin, angle beatdown after the match : worst beatdown ever!

Guest Anglesault

That was a mercy kill. Both Angle and Austin were hobbling from KotR injuries, weren't they?

Guest M Nyland
Posted

it doesn't matter who or what was injured...that doesn't take away from it's "worst beatdown" status....

The Double Turn in the Alliance Angle also blew.. because it put some faces as heels (Dreamer, Van Dam), some better heels as Faces (Regal).

Once ECW came in, it became WCW and some WWF guys v. WWF

and I was hoping that I could get through the rest of my life without remembering that Chinlock-fest and the horrible aftermath that was the Alliance angle

in the words of RVD...

"shyeah...I hear that!"

the merger sucked. i would have loved to have seen ecw stay as a separate company have the three different groups. sadly we all know what happened

I would have liked for Stephanie to not stick her nose in the angle.

Lucky my ass! Vince meticulously watched other promotions and brought in talent who could get over. Austin got over in WCW and ECW, the 80's wrestlers got over in AWA and NWA and the Rock is the only guy that he managed to get over on his own. That was a partial victory too because the Rock sucked at first and Vince probably thinks he can repackage any fucking loser that he decides the fans will like.

ECW vs. WCW vs. WWF could've been great. They just needed to bring in about four more ECW main-stays. Let me think up some...Kid Kash, New Jack j/k, Mikey Whipwreck, The Sandman, C.W Anderson (I know)....then mix those guys with RVD, Dreamer, Rhyno, and Raven and you have a team with some names.

Take that group, put them up against WCW, and both of them up against WWF, make the main players out to be Paul Heyman, Shane, and Vince, and you could've had something. Sadly, politics and over prudent management ruined it.

Say, how much do you think ECW would've costed for Vince to buy? They had what, seven-eight million dollars in debt?

Guest GenerationNever

I'm surprised Vince hasn't bought ECW yet, then he will have truly defeated the other big two. BTW, what does IIRC mean?

He only thinks that because it's TRUE...

Anyway, now that it's 1:19... was the match really THAT bad? Why? I honestly can't remember... I do remember the Lance Storm and Hugh Morrus interferences before. Wow... that was probably the last time Hugh Morrus ever hit his No Laughing Matter Moonsault. Now he's... well, he's one of my Velocity jobbing regulars. I don't think the guy's won in his entire WWF/E career. Is there some secret/sensible reason why nobody but me seems to care about this guy?

Actually, you're not alone in liking Hugh Morrus, evenflow.

He was one of my favorite wrestlers during the end of WCW. Hell, I loved the Misfits in Action.

Didn't he nearly kill Edge with the moonsault though?

Did he? I thought I heard one of the announcers say something like that, but since it was coming from them I took it as a work to put over Morrus and The Alliance (you know, they're evil for invading us but they're extra-evil for not even CARING that they risk injury to us).

If it wasn't a work comment that would explain why he hasn't had anything resembling a push or a victory since though. Anyone else know for sure? Good to see I'm not the only one who likes Morrus though. I remember way back at the Immunity Battle Royal at Survivor Series 2K1 I was hoping either he or Chavo would win it, simply because it would give them some meaning storyline-wise (or not, given what happened to the eventual winner...)

I think he did fuck up the moonsault. Lance fucked up his superkick too. Those may have had more impact on the death of the angle than they're acknowledged for.

We're also approaching the first time Angle and Booker T fought on RAW for the WCW Title...I remember I was just getting back into wrestling after a 10-month hiatus, and of course I was a huge Angle mark. Then he got screwed in every way possible, and that was before Austin had joined the Alliance. I remember screaming "WHAT THE FUCK?! I HATE BOOKER T! ANGLE SHOULD HAVE WON I HATE THE WWF~!"

Of course he ended up winning the thing like 3 weeks later...and holding onto it for 6 days.
