Of the four guys that returned at the Royal Rumble, he was the last one I was looking forward to. Now he's one of the few reasons I tune in to Raw. I don't know if this counts, but second place should go to Jeff Hardy. At the risk of sounding unpopular, I think he's really stepped up his game in the last few weeks, from his promos to his ringwork. I know I was all sorts of psyched up during the ladder match.

Guest M Nyland Posted July 3, 2002 Report Posted July 3, 2002 well Jeff Hardy and the Hardyz in general were not exactly smark favorites as almost everybody cheered when the Undertaker destroyed them and "put them on the shelf"... but then they came back at the Rumble and off-handedly helped Maven knock out the Undertaker.......Taker put over the 3 of them by letting them be a part of taking him out. And in the last few weeks the Hardyz have gotten in a lot more offense on him than DDP ever did.......and alot of us wanted JEFF~! to win the title... They went from TLCers....to jokes....to something that I look forward to seeing when I watch RAW.......not many other people have had that kind of recovery... Goldust is still my first pick though

Yeah, I know he can't wrestle and is basically doing the same crap he always did, but he went from Where-Is-He-Now to champion, and he did get some huge pops for a time. I don't like it, but I think he should at least be considered. And by the way, I'd rather watch Goldie drinking coffee for 20 minutes than five seconds of Hogan doing anything... jester

Guest Just call me Dan Posted July 3, 2002 Report Posted July 3, 2002 Eddie Guerrero is at the top of the list, mainly because of his spot on the card. I really believe that if Steve would have stuck around, that match would have been wonderful. I think it would have helped Eddy skyrocket to a top spot, the one in which he is still climbing towards. To just even consider that the WWE would have plans to put the belt on him is a huge improvement from his 1st run. He is definetly a top worker and has a great spot now on the roster because of the split, Austin's absence, and his supreme in-ring work. Goldust is right behind him because he was, like many of you also thought, the one who didn't have a chance. I remember watching Booker T and Goldust being paired together for the first time and groaning because I couldn't beleive Book was going to be paired off with an un-over low mid- carder. The WWE stuck with it and have developed something entertaining that is getting them both undoubtedly over. They could have dropped it when Book went nWo, but they STILL stuck to their guns. Where he goes from here, I don't know, but he sure exceeded my expectations. Honorable mention goes to Hogan. Yes, he still sucks in the ring, worse than I could even remember. But this guy gave me my biggest markout moment in the 1st beatdown of the Rock on Raw (minus the truck), and he has put over Angle clean. Jericho got an excellent rub from him in their 1st feud, and Edge is getting one as well. The Rock WMX8 match was off the charts in crowd response and he has helped the WWE in some ways. He has become the humble Hogan he should have 5 years ago, and I see nothing but a good send off from a man I never thought would have resurfaced in the WWE , much less take thier Undisputed Title. Like him or not, he made one HELL of a comeback.

Goldust was someone I never wanted to see again...ever. Now he is getting over big time doing a variation on the same gimmick that everone was sick of: his homo creep persona. Now he is playing it for laughs and has Booker to play off of though. By the way, I am skeptical of what kind of rub Eddie would have gotten from Austin. Austin was going to beat him soundly then move on to Benoit.

Austin may have lost to Guerrero because of Benoit's help, moving Austin over to Benoit without Eddie getting pinned. That's what I would have thought. If you think about it, they probably would have had an incredible match, elevating Eddie in the process and, if were able to go over, with or without help, he would have looked good in the process.

What the heck did this guy ever do in the WWE that gets him as over as he is? He fucking earned his spot after doing nothing, being shoved in nothing feuds,being made to look like a bitch. That's a career turnaround to be made into a face that's not only the newest and could be biggest thing on the block with one clean pinfall, or a pay per view match. Fuck, how over could this guy be if he got something even resembling a push. I don't care if he hasn't been out, Booker's legitimately turned his career around.

Watching the final Nitro and Booker's entrance to the WWE, I could have sworn this guy would be around HHH's spot AT LEAST. He and DDP were buried. The Rock usually shills for all new talent, and makes them look good when asked. He wasn't asked this time. You know Vince was pissed that in WCW Booker was wearing Rock-like clothes, having Rock-like one liners, doing the Rock's moves and calling himself the People's champ. Therefore Rock asserts his spot. Booker is then jobber to the stars and eventually a full fledged low-mid carder. I hate to speculate that if the split and Austin never happened Booker would still be in wrestling hell, but it looks that way. Being talented and over never means you get your justifiable spot. Booker's career has made a comeback, but it was rather easy considering all the opportunites thrown his way right about now. There was no room for him NOT to move up.

Yeah, Eddy came back and is on a role, but he isn't really doing anything more than he was before. He's basicly on the same leval. Same thing goes for Benoit, and the such. Goldust, he is a VERY good canditate, and a very good case can be made for him, but I can not ignore the fact that Hogan returned to "his home" in WWE, took on Rocky in a huge match at WM, and went on to defeat HHH for the Undisputed World Championship. Like it or not, THAT is what you call a hell of a comeback.
