Guest EricMM Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 Does anyone have ANY idea why he didn't debut this week on SD!? I've heard that he was ready to debut for weeks now, from the Ross report etc. Was this weeks SD! so full of killer material that they couldn't fit it in? -Eric (Yes I'm really just bitching. You do it too it's fun! We HAD to see the tag titles switch hands this week... because. SiGH)
Guest Brian Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 I guess it's next week, but the Torch newsletter made it sound like this week. The only reason I can figure they're holding off on it is because they want to do Noble/Hurricane again.
Guest Downhome Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 I think it's because they are allowing him to adjust to "the WWE style" or whatever the hell that means.
Guest Brian Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 More punching and less wrestling. And you thought the WWE couldn't possibly have less wrestling, wait until the have Benoit and Guerrero adjusted.
Guest mickberna Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 We HAD to see the tag titles switch hands this week... because. SiGH Thanks for the spoiler, dope! Anyway, I like the "He's coming" promos, letting this thing build up so he can make some sort of impact in the near future. Of course, they really built up the Hurricane's stalker, and the result was... "My BOYFRIEND, Jamie NOBLE!!!!!!!" "You like that, boy!?" Bleah.
Guest Anglesault Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 because they want to do Noble/Hurricane again. Because that went SOOOOOOOO well the first time
Guest EricMM Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 I suppose they already have, I've heard he did something called a "Wildbomb" I've never seem him do a powerbomb often in the wwe, but then again I don't get PPV's. I would be more concerned with Rey though. Face it, Benoit can make a WWE style match look very good. However from the little I've seen of Rey, if he's not flying he's frankly sucking. Name ONE WWE superstar in the last year to do more than two high risk manuevers during one match on a regular basis? I'll include a springboard anything, so I guess Storm has that springboard clothesline and a plancha or two but jeez. Calling anyone in the WWE a high flyer is like calling a 3rd grader a mathmatician. Sure they know some math, they do some math, but they're not mathmaticians (sp). Oh and from now on, should I spell it WWF[del]E because that's what I ALWAYS type -Eric
Guest Nevermortal Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 They should just do the Neckbreaker off the top spot for like 10 minutes, and not do anything else.
Guest the pinjockey Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 He better debut next week or I am going to be pissed. I want to see him live damnit.
Guest Mr Monday Night Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 Ok, first off, Rey should have an impact, but seeing as how he isnt Vince's creation, I can't imagine him making much of one. Now I never followed Dub-C-Dub, but I do remember him being unmasked, are they putting the mask back on him in WWE?
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 I just thought. They could make Rey a heel and call him Dr. Mysterio or something, and he would be the perfect comic book style heel to compliment the Hurricane gimmick..
Guest razazteca Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 why don't they just give Rey a fish bowl helmet with alot of smoke pyro and call him Mysterioso, that character from the old Spiderman cartoon......
Guest Brian Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 No more stupid hero gimmicks. I still wouldn't say Benoit's been wrestling the WWE style yet. When he was leaving he was getting to that watered down point (but not there yet). Of course if they hit those moves, they might get over, and god knows that can't happen. We learned from Tajiri.
Guest EricMM Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 I think they just don't want to get that style over. For whatever reason. Be it because it may make people who don't do certain things (HH, HHH, UT, Rock) look bad; or because they just think that certain moves are too risky to put their characters in, it seems like people who wrestle more um risky styles are either watered down or depushed. Kinda. You can bitch about Wrestler A or B getting held down, but I think it's far more depressing to see an entire style of wrestling being COMPLETELY removed from the ME. Its a terrible contrast to have the best wrestling at the bottom of the card. But sometimes it happens. Lately, often, it happens. -Eric
Guest M Nyland Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 I have video of one of Rey's headscissor takeover-into-bulldogs..... it defies physics!
Guest Vitamin X Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 I doubt they'll get him down to mindless punchin and kicking, WWF-style shit, because they've been advertising him as this crazy high-flying fast guy, with a mask.. "HE'S COMING" And the pyro explodes to reveal the smallest man in the WWF!!! (He is only like 5'3" I heard, right?)
Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 4, 2002 Report Posted July 4, 2002 Its a terrible contrast to have the best wrestling at the bottom of the card. But sometimes it happens. Lately, often, it happens. You know, the irony in this is that there are a bunch of hicks who HATE cruiserweight style wrestling making this exact same complaint in regards to NWA:TNA's X Division main events Oh, and as for Rey, I've seen some of his matches with Kidman in WCW, and I can't wait to see more, even if they are a bit watered down to fit the WWE "style" and opening Velocity against Funaki. He better not have any intentions of going to Mexico though, if he really has put his mask back on...
