Well, the draft is this weekend.
It's one of those things that I have no idea why I watch. I'll be sitting for a couple hours, bored out of my mind, but can't take my eyes off the TV. And it's going to be even worse since NFL Network has Draft coverage now... and, I guess they won't ignore all non-QB and "controversial" figures from the 2nd round on, like ESPN.
As for my favorite loser teams...
Bills - DT is their biggest need, by far. When Tim Anderson is starting for an NFL team, they need major help. I hope they take BIG HOSS! Haloti Ngata. But, rumor is they may prefer Bunkley, since Buffalo's defense relies more on some speed at DT, instead of just big fat guys. I want Ngata. And, please do not take Justice. He has Mike Williams' suckiness written all over him. Might not be able to play left tackle. Mental issues. No, no, no.
Cards - They'll probably end up taking Justice, since they really need OL help. At #11, probably the best fit, unless Detroit is retarded again and takes an offensive player instead of Michael Huff. And they're probably not taking Cutler. Kurt Warner will be starting for at least a few more years.
I don't know about other teams. I haven't really followed the draft much this year.
But, some other thoughts.
Matt Leinart will be a complete bust. Just watch some of his college games, and see how inaccurate he is. The common argument is that he only did that in the important TV games, but whatevz. He's inaccurate, doesn't have great arm strength, and not a good runner. Oh, but he has "winning intangibles". Yeah, Rob Johson would also have those intangibles if he played in that USC offense. I hope the Jets take him. I bet Pennington with his decrepid arm still plays significantly better than Leinart.
Vince Young will cause some team's fans years of anguish. He's never played QB at Texas, in any important moments. Getting the ball snapped to you, and immediately turning into a RB 70% of the time, is not a QB. And that shit definitely won't fly in the NFL. If Vick, with his legit RB speed can't regularly do it, there's no chance in hell Young will. Plus, whatever team that gets him is going to work on his mechanics. They can't help but not to. If anyone is expecting Young to make any positive impact on a team in less than 3 years, they're crazy. I'm not going to write him off... but, if you're a team drafting him in the Top 10, and dedicating many millions of dollars to him, they better have the patience of Job. Whatever that means.
Reggie Bush... well, at least the hype cooled off him after Young's godlike performance in the Rose Bowl. His talents make him worthy of the #1 pick. But, for those Sean Salisbury types that are already crowning him an NFL great... kid has tons to proof in the next level. Can he ever run inside, and learn that outrunning everyone outside won't work. Can he handle being an every down back.
If I hear anything about Brett Favre returning, or OMGZ HE MIGHT RETIRE AGAIN IN 2007, I'll scream. And he's going to go through another horrible year in Green Bay, lolzies.

And I'll be starting with my 10 worst moments in sports history. More happier lists will follow. I promise. I just hope a couple people read this. Well, who am I kidding. I'm hated and this sucks. Nobody will. But, whatever...

Ten... Ten... Ten... Ten... Ten... Ten...
Much to people's surprise, I've been a big golf fan all my life. The drama of watching the final round of a major championship is tough to match in any other sport. It amazes me the nerves those professionals must have not to completely suck in these situations.
But, one of the problems with golf (at least since I've been watching, which is after the Nicklaus/Other Guy winning slams with him days), is that it's a bunch of guys you really have no reason to care or root for. Which will happen since there's been so much depth in the golf game. Even when Tiger made his big entrance to the world winning the '97 Masters, it didn't change. Eldrick is just some bum with zero personality who played a shitload of golf and was really talented.
However, there was one man who transcended all of this. One man, who since I started following golf since 1990, has always been there...
... for me to hate.
(10) Phil Mickelson wins the 2004 Masters.
Don't you want to slap that phony smile off his face?
Phil Mickelson (who will be referred to as Hefty, due to him being a lefty, and his fat disgusting man titties, so he's Hefty. Har har.), I can't deny, is probably the most exciting golfer to watch play. Not only is he an extremely talented player, probably only matched by Eldrick, but his reckless aggressive choice of shots will never bore a golf fan.
Which led to the first reason I couldn't stand Hefty. He used to be so goddamned stupid in tournaments. Especially slams. How many times in the 90's did he give himself absolutely no chance in slams by bombing drivers every hole... and taking these ridiculous risk flop shots, and other silly shots around the greens. While it worked for 100 crappy West Coast pitch and putt tournaments he won... his blowups were so predictable in the majors.
And what I enjoyed most about him, taking forever looking at 3 foot putts. Setting up. Taking his big backswing, and plowing a lipout, as he made his "Oh no!" face! Fucking classic. I literally mark out every time that happens. Which is less and less, nowadays.
As I grew up, I started to learn more about Hefty. He's a big phony piece of shit. Just listen to the guy in interviews, he's such a smarmy asshole. His smiles are so obviously fake that you want to slap him. Many of the other players hate him. But, on television, it seems like everyone LOVES him. WHY? WHY? WHY? He's a rich fat kid from San Diego. He's not like you peons.
Then came that dark day in April 2004...
Ernie Els had a great final round in the 2004 Masters, taking like a 4 shot lead over Hefty into the back nine. Hefty had a long way to come back in order to win, and according to past history, there's no fucking way he'll do it... and I'll gleefully cackle as the phony asshole blows it again.
I should also note that Phil was in uber-douche mode for this tournament, also. Likely due to rumors that all others players hated his fucking guts, he had this retarded smile on his face constantly. After every shot, good or bad. Just walking down the fairway. Always had this fake ass smile. It was even worse than the fake smile he usually has... he seriously looked like a gigantic kid who was palsy.
So, anyway, Phil manages to get a few lucky birdies on the back nine, and ties Els going to 18.
I'm sure we all recollect the 18th hole...
He has like a 20-footish putt. All of us are thinking he's gonna miss. I'm entirely sure he blows this 4 feet by the hole, misses the 2nd putt, and I laugh for the rest of that glorious Sunday...

All those majors where Hefty sucked, or just got outplayed. How gleeful I was when David Toms played incredibly to knock him off in Atlanta. And when Payne (RIP) put on a putting exhibition to win at Pinehurst...
It all went away... things were never going to be the same. That asshole finally won his first slam. And we knew, many would follow. Which continued with an easy win at this year's Masters.

My antisocial ways are disturbing. I go to with friend to a bar tonight. But, I'm tired. This is my main problem with weekends. I hate going out on Friday night, because after work, the last thing I want to do is go in pressure-filled social situation. Then, Saturdays, I just want to relax all day... plus, I work quite a few Saturdays. Then, Sunday, I feel like doing stuff, but there's work the next day. I always have excuses. Anyway, my pal is probably getting her brains fucked out right now, while I went home like a loser at 10pm. Oh well. I'm just really, really not a crowd type person.
I'll reply to more stuff. Since I don't know what to talk about. Well, there's random sports things and other stuff... but, I'm not Bored enough for that currently.
Somewhat true, I guess. But, I'm not ready to give up on Losman yet. I see there's talent there. He's quite mobile. He's got the arm strength. And he's definitely got the self-belief. Give him at least another year.
Indeed. The sack in one of those stats we'd probably be better off not having. It's really not a very significant play. Infact, I think it would be better for QB's if it didn't exist. They're always so worried about getting sacked... it's hardly the end of the world. INT's, can be.
That doesn't really work though.
For example, soccer is quite fun to play. But, there's no way in hell I'll ever watch an entire game. Even if it's the World Cup final.
Playoffs, I've come close to watching all of. I recall watching lots of the D-Backs/Yanks series. The Sox/Yanks shit turned me off again, though. Also, the Playoffs are hurt by the announcing. Listening to McCarver's incoherent non-stop babble cannot be tolerated for long. And ESPN has Berman in the early rounds. Ugh.
Yeah, I'm kinda the same. Although, I'm not sure if it's me growing up... or growing restless with how sports has turned into big business, with so many spoiled athletes who obviously don't give a shit.
I love college football. But, only the very few games that mean anything. But, I shouldn't get into another rant about that. College bball, I usually can watch entire games. Mostly because they're shorter than 2 hours. However, with so many games going on, it's more enjoyable to hop around and watch bits of every game.
I know. But, sometimes, it's hard to get me to believe that. When you have TWO sets of parents that basically disowned you, one of which who enjoyed making me feel miserable... it's hard to believe in people. If your own family hates you, why should anyone else be better? But, whatevz. Family talk gets me so fucking pissed.
I was just being heelish then. Any job, is a good job. I truly mean that.
About 6 years ago. Right before my senior year of tennis, which really fucking sucked. Gave me some hard lessons about life, and who your true friends are, though... so, I consider it worth it.
It doesn't bother me much, anymore. Although, the flexibility of my foot isn't the same. Mostly, the problems were mental. I was afraid to put all my weight on it for a couple years. And sprained ankles... I think I've sprained my right one at least 10 times. It got to the point where it barely bothered me when it happened. I wish I wasn't so damn clumsy and uncoordinated.

This will be more of a sad entry. And although it doesn't entirely have to do with TSM, it's a fine example of the mentality we have here.
I'm saddened I had to end a friendship with the poster Ortonsault today. A victim of the high school mentality that many grown-ups have... which also happens here. The high school mentality of going with whatever your friends say. And since this mentality is so childish, usually the dumbest people get the ball rolling within it.
It's sad to think that I'd probably have more good acquaintances on this board if it wasn't for this mentality. Which is truly a shame.
And does it make me better than most of you because I don't think this way? Yes. It does.

JJ Redick wins Player of the Year. This was the only correct choice. Props to JJ for winning it. But, he'll still be a mediocre pro.
Eric Moulds will be traded to Houston. Sad to see Eric go, but his best years are long behind him. And the only reason why Moulds was a pro bowl receiver was because of his freakish physical attributes. He's lost his speed, and thus lost his gamebreaking ability, therefore he's virtually worthless. He's a jerk. He drops lots of balls. He's not a reliable "possession" receiver, despite his stats saying so. Lee Evans, if he remains healthy, is definitely the man in Buffalo.
The NFL is further banning TD celebrations. Meh, I'm torn on this. Eventually, the NFL was going to have to crack down on this. Because while Chad Johnson does his cute, fun little celebrations... the human nature of spoiled athletes who have no responsibility for their actions due to their insane riches, they'll keep trying to outdo each other, and eventually people would get offended. So, the NFL nipped it in the bud now, before it would have became a problem. I have more of a problem with when some celebrations are done. I swear, those certain players that celebrate after every first down, or every TACKLE need a slap in the head. Besides, players can celebrate all they want... after WINNING THE GAME. Which is the main goal, after all.
Baseball is doing steroids investigations, blah blah blah... too late. The only way Selig and all of baseball doesn't look like total schmucks is if they admit that keeping the steroid scandal under the rug was best for them. Otherwise, the lies just keep adding up, and nothing gets resolved.
Maria Sharapova is going to win Indian Wells and Miami, sweeping the secondary US titles. I hate tennis.
I'm going to a Spring Training tomorrow in Phoenix. D-Backs vs. Yankees. I only care about seeing A-Rod. Plus, it's the first Major League game I'd ever see. I went to many Bisons games, and sitting through entire baseball games definitely isn't the most enjoyable way to spend an evening.

We take a break from stuff that PISSES ME OFF, to another HOF list. Except these are for football... not baseball ones like alkeiper and other inferior posters do.
For each player, I'll be using the Keltner list. Because I've always wanted to.
We'll start with Thurman Thomas.
I should note beforehand that I'm a huge fangirl for him and thus biased.
1. Was he ever regarded as the best player in football? Did anybody, while he was active, ever suggest that he was the best player in football?
Not by many. Although, I feel he was in consideration for this in 1991 and 1992.
2. Was he the best player on his team?
Yes. He was the best player on the best offense in the league for multiple years. If we include defensive players, Bruce Smith had occasional injury problems and was arguably slowing down after his huge year in 1990. Cornelius Bennett was Defensive MVP in 1991, so he's in consideration, also.
3. Was he the best player in football at his position? Was he the best player in the conference at his position?
Arguably, and definitely yes. It's very difficult to beat out a Barry Sanders in his prime, though.
4. Did he have an impact on a number of great seasons?
Yes. He was the starting HB of every game but 1 in the Bills' four Super Bowl runs.
5. Was he good enough that he could play regularly after passing his prime?
Yes, up to the point where injuries curtailed his career. Although, his quality of play did drop significantly after the Bills' Super Bowl runs.
6. Is he the very best football player in history who is not in the Hall of Fame?
Yes. Every comparable skilled possession player got in 1st ballot. If it wasn't for a stacked class last year, he would have been in. And should have been in, regardless.
7. Are most players who have comparable statistics in the Hall of Fame?
Yes.
8. Do the player's numbers meet Hall of Fame standards?
Absolutely.
Led the NFL in yards from scrimmage from 1989-1992. Enough said.
9. Is there any evidence to suggest that the player was significantly better or worse than is suggested by his statistics?
Arguably. His stats are boosted because he played on one of the best offenses in the league. And he got many looks as a receiving threat, much more than his equal counterparts Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders. And he was on a quick-paced, often no-huddle team that gave more chances. But, I don't put much credence into this for football.
10. Is he the best player at his position who is eligible for the Hall of Fame?
Yes.
11. How many MVP-type seasons did he have? Did he ever win an MVP award? If not, how many times was he close?
I'd say 5, from 1989-1993. He was the majority MVP once in 1991. I'd guess he was in the top 5 the other 4 years.
12. How many Pro Bowl-type seasons did he have? How many Pro-Bowl games did he play in? Did most of the players who played in this many Pro-Bowl games go into the Hall of Fame?
5. 5. It's on the lower end of HOF RB's, with only Dorsett (4) and Riggins (1) from post-merger being lower. But, it's enough.
13. If this man were the best player on his team, would it be likely that the team could win their division/conference?
Yes, and he did.
14. What impact did the player have on football history? Was he responsible for any rule changes? Did he change the game in any way?
None. Although, he should make future Super Bowl players remember where their helmet is before the game.
15. Did the player uphold the standards of sportsmanship and character that the Hall of Fame, in its written guidelines, instructs us to consider?
He was arrested for marijuana possession after his career, and confessed to being an alcoholic before that. There's been other rumors, but Thurman is not noted for being a bad guy.
Would he get my vote?
Yes. He should have been in last year on his first try. He was statistically the best player at his position for FOUR straight years. And reached the Championship Game FOUR straight years. No other player can boast that, and it's unlikely that it will ever be equaled. 8th in career total yards. 12th in rushing. And that's with a relatively short career. A no-brainer for this overlooked player whose prime was shared with 2 other all-time greats.

You know, I never noticed what great workrate that Matt Bentley (Michael Shane) and David Young have. They might be the best wrestlers in TNA... or, anywhere in the world. Well, they're maybe still behind Joe... but, he's only viewed my myspace 3 times, and still hasn't said anything. Joe still has his chance to improve, though.
So, I suggest everyone watch TNA... and strongly suggest to the people over there that they push those 2 fine, young wrestlers.

I had a vacation last week. Work is being a bitch with internet junk, plus I've been a lot busier in general there. Many people here have been ruder to me for no reason, causing me not want to post as much.

PSU/MSU - Penn St. is lucky to only have one loss. MSU fucked that game up big time with turnovers at the worst time.
Oh well. Both games were meaningless, anyway. So, Penn State probably comes to Tempe now for the Fiesta Bowl to face some other team. Whoopy. I don't understand college football fans who actually care about bowl games. They're meaningless exhibitions. Yes, there's pride for these teams making these bowl games... but beyond that, it's nothing.

Cleveland (4-8) at Pittsburgh (5-7): I have to fade the Browns here starting Derek Anderson with 4 days preparation time. Plus, the Steelers still have that tiny glimmer of hope that the 5-7 teams do (like Buffalo), so they should be enthused for this one. Only question is how PIT deals with their injuries, especially on the defensive side. But, odds are with PIT here. PIT 23, CLE 13.
Sunday 1:00:
Indianapolis (10-2) at Jacksonville (7-5): JAX should have won their 1st matchup of the year, and I really like them here. Almost enough to bet on them... JAX is a strong running team, IND's run defense is crap. JAX is fighting for their playoff lives, and are a great home team. JAX 38, IND 24.
Tenneseee (5-7) at Houston (4-8): No real reason for this one. I'm just not sold on VY's abilities as a true QB. His completion percentage remains horrid. After two home games crushing the Manning family, I can see TEN having trouble on the road here. And Houston has been playing good football lately, too. HOU 27, TEN 17.
Baltimore (9-3) at Kansas City (7-5): I can't go against the Chiefs' 18-game winning streak at home in December, or whatever it is. BAL's offense looked so poor at CIN, and has been inconsistent all year. This isn't the place where they'll probably kick start it again. I don't see them doing significantly better against a very hungry KC team that can't afford any more losses. KC 17, BAL 13.
Philadelphia (6-6) at Washington (4-8): Yuck. Nothing is worse than a bad NFC East game. I'll be fading WAS the rest of the year with their injury issues. So, whatever. PHI 28, WAS 10.
Minnesota (5-7) at Detroit (2-10): MIN has won the last 9 games in this series. I see no reason this changes vs. a team that's great at finding ways to lose. And MIN better be fired up after blowing a huge opportunity to win @CHI last week.MIN 20, DET 17.
NY Giants (6-6) at Carolina (6-6): NYG seems to be in total disarray, but CAR may well be the same. The Giants still do have a lot of talent, and haven't been playing that badly. Just blowing games. Eventually, things must go right for them. CAR is a very overrated team. Their lines are weak, and the running game is not what people think it is. NYG 34, CAR 17.
Atlanta (6-6) at Tampa Bay (3-9): TB can't score. Vick had a solid game vs. TB early in the season, and it looks like he can play against them now. So, looks good for ATL. ATL 24, TB 7.
New England (9-3) at Miami (5-7): Jason Taylor's availability will be important here. It seems like everyone and their dog is taking MIA in the upset here. But, MIA's performance against JAX last week was very disappointing. I think it's possible they've thrown in the towel. NE 37, MIA 21.
Oakland (2-10) at Cincinnati (7-5): Bengals are red hot lately, on both sides of the ball. However, OAK's pass defense is the only positive they have. I just don't like a blowout here. CIN 24, OAK 14.

Green Bay (4-8) at San Francisco (5-7): GB's run defense is poop, and after last week, things look very bad for them. GORE GORE GORE should at least get 150 rushing yards here. SF 38, GB 26.
Seattle (8-4) at Arizona (3-9): As unimpressive as SEA may be at times, they just don't lose with Hasselbeck and Alexander. ARI still blows despite beating the Rams. Sorry ass team. Sorry ass franchise. SEA 35, ARI 24.
Buffalo (5-7) at NY Jets (7-5): The Jets got all the breaks in the previous game, and the Bills are very capable of beating them. Yeah, biased. THE BILLS STILL HAVE HOPE. Plus, the Miami game has to have some meaning... BUF 17, NYJ 16.
Denver (7-5) at San Diego (10-2): LT = good. Denver = YAWN. I don't even like thinking about Denver games, let alone watching any more of them. SD 42, DEN 10.

I was barely online this weekend. Which was rather strange. Didn't really do much during it either... besides lots of cleaning, watched crappy movies like The Ring with some friend, and some tennis, and watching sports crap on TV.
So, I guess the biggest news of the day was some IRL guy getting killed in a crash. Or, at least the sports networks tell me so. It's obviously sad that a young guy like that dies... but, let's calm down the pity party. Nobody forces these drivers to ride around a track at 200 mph. They should thank their lucky stars that continue to live every day.
It reminds me of when Earnhardt died, and everyone was up in arms about SAFETY! Fuck you. If anyone really cared about safety, there would be no racing. And let's face it, the only reason racing is so popular is because of nasty crashes like that. No offense, but it's a choice you make. If you choose to race at high speeds, you potentially offer your life for money. If you die, you die. The end.
And George Mason reaches the Final 4. Holy shit... simply amazing stuff. And just look at the teams they beat... UConn, North Carolina, Michigan St. and Wichita St. I knew Mason was always a very good team, but this is just unbelievable. Again, this is why college basketball is miles ahead of all other college sports, at least in the television aspect. However, I was one of those that thought Hofstra should have been in the tourney instead of them... and still do. Although, I thought the Colonial should have got 3 teams. And no, this doesn't mean we'll be getting more mid-majors in the NCAA's.
The Players Championship was a dog this year. Stephen Ames was a really underrated player, so I wasn't shocked to see him win. But, HOW he won. Damn, good stuff. Just beat the tar out of everyone. He seriously looked like he was playing on a different course than everyone. I'd say he got the best out of Tiger after all... you can have the 9&8 first round win in Accenture, I'll take the runaway Players Championship title. But, still disappointing, like most Players have ended up being lately. I'd just like for it one year to be a shootout with 10 or so players left in contention during the final handful of holes. The worst was Craig Perks winning a few years ago... god, does he blow. Had a nice horseshoe up his ass that Sunday. And the move to May for next year should make things a lot better. Sawgrass will be evil hard if the rain stays away all week. I'd really love for a US Open to be hosted there... that would be diabolical.
I watched Smackdown for the first time in... about forever. Damn good show. For most people who hate wrestling and only watch Raw, at least give SD a shot. It's easily the best wrestling TV show currently. A fun battle royal. A great TV match with Rey/Finlay that you won't see many better of on TV. And most of all, very little stupid shit like McMahonamania, or hokey comedy. There's still some of that... but, it doesn't ruin the entire show. Plus, I mark out for Randall Orton and Kurt Angle. So, I'm happy. The negative is Friday night... I'm never going to be able to remember to watch it at that time. And I don't even go out every single Friday night like many people do. Downloading it is fine, but that gets tiresome, also.

I'm once again going through another online apathy stage. Where I don't talk to anyone, don't feel like posting, and don't do anything in general. I guess it's because of another boyfriend now, which will of course end up in pain, but whatever. I don't learn. And just general apathy in wrestling, since the sucky summer stretch is coming... and sports should be better, but they're not.

No.
2. Was he the best player on his team?
All-time, no. KC previously had better defensive players. But, Thomas was the face of the Chiefs' franchise during his time there.

If by position, we mean OLB? Then, no.
4. Did he have an impact on a number of great seasons?
Before Thomas went to KC, they were a dismal team. Nearly every season Thomas was in KC, they were a playoff team. But, never a serious contender for a championship. All in all, we'll give a slight lean towards yes.
5. Was he good enough that he could play regularly after passing his prime?
Yes. Thomas was still putting up his usual stats until his death at 33.
6. Is he the very best football player in history who is not in the Hall of Fame?
No.
7. Are most players who have comparable statistics in the Hall of Fame?
Since sacks have only been recorded since 1982, it's difficult to compare. However, I'd go with no. Since Richard Dent has comparable sack stats and is not in.
8. Do the player's numbers meet Hall of Fame standards?
Not enough of a sample to properly judge.
9. Is there any evidence to suggest that the player was significantly better or worse than is suggested by his statistics?
Lots to suggest Thomas was worse since sacks are a horribly overrated stat. Thomas was a weak run defender with few tackles for his position, and a noted liability in pass coverage. Thomas' position was OLB, so these are significant weaknesses.
10. Is he the best player at his position who is eligible for the Hall of Fame?
Most would say yes.
11. How many MVP-type seasons did he have? Did he ever win an MVP award? If not, how many times was he close?
None. He was never a defensive MVP.
12. How many Pro Bowl-type seasons did he have? How many Pro-Bowl games did he play in? Did most of the players who played in this many Pro-Bowl games go into the Hall of Fame?
9 Pro Bowls. Easily enough for HOF consideration.
13. If this man were the best player on his team, would it be likely that the team could win their conference?
No, and they didn't.
14. What impact did the player have on football history? Was he responsible for any rule changes? Did he change the game in any way?
It could be argued Thomas revolutionized the purely pass rushing OLB/undersized DE.
15. Did the player uphold the standards of sportsmanship and character that the Hall of Fame, in its written guidelines, instructs us to consider?
Yes. He was noted for being a good man in KC. And his untimely death further adds to the positive feelings people have for him.
Would he get my vote?
No. Being one of the best at 1/3 of the responsibilities of your position is not enough. Inducting Derrick Thomas all comes down to your believe of what a Hall of Famer should be. The glamor of bringing down the QB, or choosing players who were the best at their position. If Richard Dent is struggling to get in, I don't see how Thomas has any shot unless he gets the sympathy vote.
