Guest Tyler McClelland Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 (edited) Fair enough. The source was discredited. Regardless, insert liberal media argument here. Edited June 25, 2003 by Tyler McClelland
Rob E Dangerously Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 "We are moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. Welcome. We just crossed over into the Twilight Zone, otherwise known as George Bush's America. For it is here and only here that the White House could receive warning after warning of massive attacks that were going to take place on American soil, the attack happens, and both the President and the Vice President, in separate phone calls to Tom Daschle, ask that Congress not investigate what happened and why. That could only happen in the Twilight Zone." CONGRESSIONAL RECORD -- HOUSE Tuesday, March 05, 2002 107th Congress, 2nd Session 148 Cong Rec H 676 REFERENCE: Vol. 148, No. 22 SECTION: House TITLE: THE TWILIGHT ZONE, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS GEORGE BUSH'S AMERICA SPEAKER: Ms. McKINNEY --- http://weblog.mkelley.net/congrec.pdf http://www.truthout.org/docs_02/05.17AA.Mc...ney.Bush.NU.htm
Guest Cancer Marney Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 ... Someone's actually trying to defend McKinney? Against anything? I mean, anything at all? You could tell me that woman ate babies and butchered small dogs in public and I'd believe it. Seriously, Tyler, pick a better martyr. I don't know why you thought any of that nonsense you posted was credible; I just know that's two minutes of my life I'm not getting back.

On the contrary, it brings up the well-known fact that we've had the intel for a long time that an attack was being planned (no specific plans, no specific dates) and Bush saw that as dangerous enough to phone Daschle (which has yet to be disputed).
Guest Cancer Marney Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Tyler... shut up. Just shut up. You're a retard. A complete fucking retard. You snatch up the most inane left-wing conspiracy theories you can find without even THINKING to question them, gleefully swallow revisionist history like it's nectar and ambrosia, and practically choke yourself trying to vomit forth all the shit you've feasted on while everyone else watches in a mixture of stunned horror and disbelief. I mean Christ, you freely admit you know nothing about this depraved, disgusting creature and yet you see fit to post an article defending her filled with the most brazen lies imaginable, and then you hold it up as proof of your crazy hypotheses? What the fuck is wrong with you? Don't you have any sense of shame? Don't you care that you look ignorant, obscenely gullible, blindly partisan, and almost unbelievably stupid? Greg Palast is a conscienceless liar. You are a willing, eager dupe. Moreover, persons close to this Administration are poised to make huge profits off America's new war. Former President Bush sits on the board of the Carlyle Group. The Los Angeles Times reports that on a single day last month, Carlyle earned $237 million selling shares in United Defense Industries, the Army's fifth-largest contractor. The stock offering was well timed: Carlyle officials say they decided to take the company public only after the Sept. 11 attacks. The stock sale cashed in on increased congressional support for hefty defense spending, including one of United Defense's cornerstone weapon programs. Now is the time for our elected officials to be held accountable. Now is the time for the media to be held accountable. Why aren't the hard questions being asked? We know there were numerous warnings of the events to come on September 11. Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, delivered one such warning. Those engaged in unusual stock trades immediately before September 11 knew enough to make millions of dollars from United and American airlines, certain insurance and brokerage firms' stocks. What did this Administration know, and when did it know it about the events of September 11? Who else knew and why did they not warn the innocent people of New York who were needlessly murdered? - KPFA transcript This is common knowledge. It has BEEN common knowledge ever since NPR and the Washington Post replayed and published McKinney's own goddamn words over and over and over again, immediately after the radio interview. Where were you? Under a rock? You see criticism of a self-proclaimed liberal by liberal outlets and decide that it CAN'T be right, because liberal politicians are holy, and therefore ANY criticism must be prejudiced which PROVES that the "supposedly" liberal outlets are in fact part of a huge conservative conspiracy that makes the X-Files look like a couple of schoolchildren planning to write BOOBS on the chalkboard during recess. Jesus. Most sane people see the same thing and realise that if even liberals are appalled by a liberal politician's statements they must be particularly unendurable - verging on treason - which, in fact, is what McKinney's statements were. There were White House press briefings on this, for God's sake. The press wouldn't shut up about it for days. Weeks. What next? Are you going to post something from the IHR "disproving" the Holocaust and claim you weren't personally aware of the facts when you're called on the carpet, in the meantime snottily declaring that you'd like to see "proof" of Ernst Zundel's virulent anti-Semitism before anyone "vehemently destroys" his "credibility" with "blatantly one-sided" opinions? Incredible. Just incredible. Maybe your monumental ignorance isn't technically a crime, but your constant attempts to present it as a virtue bloody well should be. I think it's rather absurd that the "liberal" NY Times can plaster her and still be considered liberal in itself Are you equating liberalism with treason now? I thought that was my line.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 I just hopped onto this thread when the "liberal media" example was removed. What was it? Did Rob E's re-post it? Is this what we learned in class today?...

Guest Cancer Marney Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 I just hopped onto this thread when the "liberal media" example was removed. What was it? Did Rob E's re-post it? No, Rob E posted a rebuttal from House records. Click here to read the article Tyler posted, if you must. Warning: this much concentrated stupidity and out-and-out lying has been known to cause cancer of the brain.
Guest Tyler McClelland Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Well, I wasn't exactly aware that he had his facts that skewed. Call me gullible, but I usually expect a certain amount of journalistic integrity before something is published; apparently, it wasn't there with that article.
Guest MD2020 Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Call me gullible, but I usually expect a certain amount of journalistic integrity before something is published; Have you not been paying attention recently? Jayson Blair stuff; Maureen Dowd manipulating Bush's quote to make it say the opposite of what he did say, etc.?
Guest Tyler McClelland Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Obviously. However, there was no retraction posted after that which was posted on Alternet a week ago, and as such, I had no reason to believe it was a falsified article.
Guest MD2020 Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Fair enough, but we are should be skeptical about what we read and stuff. Unless we see it with our own eyes.
