I think it's going to be a triple threat. My hope is that Hogan has insane crowd heat again and that makes the match watchable. I'm afraid the work in it will not be very good at all. Hogan's work against Rock wasn't good. And against two less mobile workers in HHH and Undertaker I'm afraid we're going to see 20 minutes of awkward bumps and punches.

I personally would like to see The Undertaker thrown back in the mix. I think that it is pretty messed up for him to be taken out of the match after he was already announced as having been in it. If they plan on keeping Triple H face, they need another villian in the ring to take the spotlight off of Triple H versus Hogan. If the match announced on Smackdown stands, I predict Triple H going the way of the N.W.O.

Yeah.  I don't think there's any way to do a straight up Hogan-HHH match without hurting Midcard Mark's feelings.  A six-pack match would give everyone something to do, given that they're two weeks away from the PPV and most of the main event-level guys are in a total state of flux due to the split.

Now that was a funny one. Honestly, this thing has Triple going nWo in my mind. Or at least I hope so. You saw how fans were booing Trips. They sang his line at the end, but still heel Trips against Hulkamania is the way to go.

Your favourite Taker Mark has to agree with that statement up there, The Taker SHOULD be in the Backlash main event as it was originally announced that it would be that way. I predict a 3-way, although this entire Red & Yellow thing has me VERY scared, as if Vince is already got Hulkamania on life support again, one must think that a world title might be joining it very soon...lets hope not. As for what I WANT to see, i'd love to just see straight out Taker-Trips, as they put on a great show at WMX-7, and i believe Taker has increased his work ethic since then, putting on a damn good brawl with Ric Flair at Wrestlemania.

 

It sickens me to say this, but i believe that Hulk Hogan will walk out of Backlash as the WWF Champion...Yes, this is what the end of the world feels like.

 

In any event, any main event with Taker in it, has my money.

It makes you wonder, though, is being the forgotten fifth or sixth man in a six-man-clusterfuck really any better than being at the top of the midcard?  It would seem like a smart move to stay far away from the Backlash main event; being associated with it would only enable higher-ups to foist the blame on Jericho et al.

 

Something that makes me cringe is the thought that this (the main event shot at the undisputed championship) is the only reason the Undertaker deigned to work a (short, lopsided) program with RVD.  Could his heel run destroying the bottom of the card have been bought with this match?  Plausible.

But on the con side, if Jericho was in the match he'd be used as the jobboy for Triple H. He should be kept out of the main event and put into a match against the Rock (who would probably agree to job to Jericho) and keep building him back up after Triple H and Steph buried him these last couple of months....

Hehe,HHH being a face,Taker,10 yrs. in the business and still doesnt know how to throw a decent punch,and old ass Hogan,triple threat,HHH/Hogan,HHH/Taker all sound like crap to me there is no way to make any of these combinations better

WTF were they thinking blowing off Jericho and Rock on free TV. Rock should be in the title match if it's going to be more than one-on-one, but HHH and Undertaker should get clean jobs from Hogan

I don't know, the Rock has jobbed to Jericho many times so far. I think Backlash is shaping to be really confusing. If they go with HHH v Hogan, that leaves Rock, Austin, Jericho, Undertaker, Booker, nWo, Kane, Big Show etc all without defined matches so far. And I'm gettin bored of randomly thrown together feuds - eg Angle-Edge.

Well, the explanation that Vince gave is pretty solid since he won the coin toss. Flair doesn't really have too much ground to have a good argument to have Taker in the match. Storyline wise it would be contradicting from all sides. Why would Flair want Taker having a title shot anyways even if it is for his side? He hates Taker.

My guess is that it will be a Tripple Threat match as a way for Vince and Flair to put over the split. Maybe this could lead to a ppv split so that each show gets its own ppv. Which I think is a stupid ass idea.

This is far too much of a mess. The best bet would be to stick Angle in there to add some work rate and what not, but since he and Edge do have a fairly solid feud going, my guess is that they'll go with the triple threat as a main event.

Man, that match might just be one of the wost matches ever constructed in the modern WWF.

 

I agree that any HHH-Taker-Hogan combination will suck more suck than anything that's sucked before but if they are feuding amongst themselves and not dragging down the match quality of guys infinitely more talented than they are , then give them a three-way and keep them away from Austin, Rock, Anglem Jericho etc. Maybe the talented workers can drag a **** match out of the WWF, something I am impatiently waiting for this year.
