WWF Survivor Series 1991 & This Tuesday In Texas

Ah, my first pay-per-view experience. A lot of people complain about this show- whether its the bizarre finish in the opening match, the fact that they teased Savage working the main event and didn't deliver, or that the show came off as more of a $30 infomercial for This Tuesday in Texas- but I still love it. - The opening elimination match was just packed with guys that I love, including Hart, Flair, DiBiase, Davey Boy and Piper. Even though the finish was not purely logical, it protected everybody who was left, which was a good thing. - I was an enormous Duggan mark at this point in my fandom, so his entire team taking the clean sweep was awesome. - Jake to Okerlund: "Well I spoke with God yesterday and he told me he didn't like you!" - I remember being in utter shock when The Undertaker won the WWF Championship. Though I was very relieved that Hogan dumped that casket over before the match started. - The promo that Piper cut backstage is priceless. - Oh, The Rockers. It really breaks my heart to watch this match. I loved the banter between Monsoon and Heenan after Bobby insinuated that neither of the Bushwhackers would be competent enough to captain their team: Monsoon: "I thought (the team captain) was Luke." Heenan: "Luuuuke???" - The main event was a nice happy ending. I love it when heels don't get along. It makes sense to me. - Was the WWF Championship in the casket with the cameraman at the end?

The Smart Marks Greatest Song of the 60s Tournament

Surprisingly, I found voting in this second go to be much more peremptory compared to the first round. I voted against some of my initial selections too; even when pitted against numbers that I helped to move into this stage. Here goes: "Ring Of Fire" by Johnny Cash "Respect" by Aretha Franklin "Hang On Sloopy" by The McCoys "She's Not There" by The Zombies "Sounds of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkle "She Loves You" by The Beatles "I Heard it Through the Grapevine" by Marvin Gaye "Folsom Prison Blues" by Johnny Cash "Eight Days A Week" by The Beatles "Hey Jude" by The Beatles "You Really Got Me" by The Kinks "Fortunate Son" by Creedence Clearwater Revival "A Day in the Life" by The Beatles "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King "Daydream Believer" by The Monkees "Brown Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison "Space Oddity" by David Bowie "Only The Lonely" by Roy Orbison "Then He Kissed Me" by The Crystals "My Generation" by The Who "Gloria" by Them "The Weight" by The Band "Time of The Season" by The Zombies "God Only Knows" by The Beach Boys "Venus in Furs" by The Velvet Underground "Tears of a Clown" by Smokey Robinson & the Miracles "Turn, Turn, Turn" by The Birds "Like a Rolling Stone" by Bob Dylan "Gimme Shelter" by Rolling Stones "Break on Through" by The Doors "Norwegian Wood" by Beatles "Come See About Me" by The Supremes

Yeah, I know that Goldberg was supposed to headline the show against HHH. But it was a shitty throwaway PPV that was built around Austin and Bischoff squaring off in the Redneck Triathlon that WWE fans loved so much that they went out of their way to never speak of again.

Really? WWE coveted the Sting acquisition so much that they wanted to give us the big money match against World Champion HHH at Bad Blood? Boy, he missed out on some sweet shit.

I usually take what Vince says on camera with a grain of salt, but not so much as a single cynical bone in my body did twitch when I viewed the Byte This clip describing the circumstances around Angle's release and his concerns toward his well being as a person. A great number of talents could be deemed expendable. Angle, even as a headliner in 2006, was no Steve Austin. He could leave and it would leave a reasonably big hole in the talent pool, no doubt. But it was not like losing Hulk Hogan in the mid-nineties. That said, Vince put everything on the table, and I truly believe that he was hoping that Angle would come back. Not because he feared the edge that the competition would get if they acquired his name value and the work that he would bring, but because I think that McMahon was a fan of Angle as a performer. I would guess that Vince took some sense of pride in the body of work that Angle put together under the WWE banner. My guess is that McMahon would welcome him back on specific terms. Perhaps an light schedule would be a precondition. They just need to kiss and make up...

I have been considering Wes Anderson since the beginning. Though I would like to go a different creative route with my final director.

I know this is two years old, but this may be an indication of whether or not Kurt would be welcomed back into WWE. Be sure to visit the link where RVD and Tatanka talk about smoking the "peace pipe."

What happen? ICP and Scott Hall bum rushed the show. No incident that I know of, though. Unless there was a different clown show that I don't know about.

(Yes, I'm violating my own rule about not doing a direct C&P from paysites, but really it was just easier for one paragraph). Is Angle really that unhappy with TNA? I would be shocked if WWE ever wanted to deal with him again. I guess he could probably get work with Inoki. Wasn't his last match a month later at Survivor Series, or am I getting my years confused again? His last match was at an SD! taping the Sunday before Taboo Tuesday, though he was on hand at both RAW and the PPV (his contract was up that Monday) in case he was needed.

    WWE General Discussion-November 2008

I needed to hear (or read) from the horse's mouth (or website) that HBK, Khali, Rey Misterio and Cryme Tyme were going to comprise a Survivor Series Team. Though I don't think that anybody from TSM could have made that one up.

    Discussion: Outdoor Shows

I agree with Snake. Just have a retractable roof as an insurance policy and you're good. Outdoor shows always look beautiful, so I am in favor of more! WWE should definitely try and hold SummerSlam in a "roofless" venue.

FWIW I usually flock to other sites than WWE.com for that kind of thing, unless it is mentioned specifically.

I had to say that I didn't believe that shit for a second... but sure enough... WWE.com has confirmed it. This is already the greatest WWE PPV of all time. Like WrestleMania III, In Your House 2 and Unforgiven '99 all rolled into one! As in I didn't believe his post until I visited the company-sponsored site personally... smartass.
