Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released
Perfection replied to Human Fly's topic in The WWE Folder
The question is do they completely remove his matches from these shows/dvds or is this just a case of not advertising anything with his name on it. As awful as the thing he did was, if a nfl player did this, they wouldnt go back and not sell games a certain player was in...but this is the wwe we are talking about. So my guess is title matches/changes will be left on things such as dvds but any non title match involving him might be removed completely. -

They can't or won't erase history imo but they will not advertise or try to promote anything with his name it would appear. I still can't believe this is happening and I can't imagine how awful the wrestlers feel about the situation. To think a few days ago that not only would Benoit be dead but that he killed his own family, and the wwe essentially will disown him is just mind blowing. quite easily the darkest day(s) in wrestling history. -

Wow, I can't believe they are actually going to tape a "regular" smackdown/ecw. That is the last thing i expected them to do. I would have thought they would have at least given the talent a week to mourn. -

You can add HHH to that list imo. While he gave very good compliments toward Benoit, he wasn't overly emotional yet I think him and benoit were pretty close if i'm not mistaken. I was expecting him to lose it but he didn't. -

It just keeps sounding worse and worse. WWE is going to catch a lot of bad publicity from this with the steriods being found. Due to that, this has got to be a wrestling/wwe altering event with respect to drug abuse and testing. Really shocked to hear that everyone had suspicions that it was benoit right away. from another board.. Keller's Audio Update -He said it is being reported he suffocated his wife and son, perhaps a day apart. And then hung himself. Late Sunday night, he sent a strange text message to a person within the WWE. The police broke into the house at 2:30 pm today and found them in separate rooms. -Vince called all the wrestlers backstage this afternoon for an emergency meeting. Wrestler were already bawling and crying. A longtime WWE wrestler said it was the most emotional state he's ever seen the wrestlers. -There was a really uneasy feeling Sunday. Everybody felt something was wrong. -One wrestler said "It was bound to happen". There was a strong suspicion backstage that Benoit did this right away. There was also a suspicion that Nancy had done it. They had a volatile relationship and everyone knew it. -Hardly anybody backstage really knew Benoit. He had a very small inner circle that one time included Eddy Guerrero and recently included Chavo Guerrero. But even they had a certain psychological distance from Benoit. Everyone could tell that something wasn't right lately with Benoit. -He said that he was a very nice and pleasant person to be around, but a person close to Benoit said that Chris had "snap potential". -A lot of steroids were found in the Benoit household, and Benoit has had bouts with "roid rages". WWE may suffer publicly because of their unenforced "Wellness Policy". -

Im guessing smackdown will be cancelled tomorrow. They certainly will not have a tribute show given the latest developments and your run of the mill smackdown is out of the question. maybe they will just show some random matches, that don't include benoit. -

Either drugs, blunt object(s) or maybe strangled her. I'm not sure if i read that they ruled that out but it seems logical it was one of those. Benoit then likely hung himself or overdosed on some sort of medicine/poisen. I just got off the phone with a friend and really for the first time since i first learned about this story early this evening, it was the first time I hadn't thought about it. Then when I got off the phone I remembered and it just seems surreal...and unreal. I really and honestly can't believe that someone who I have respected for so long and was thought of so highly by so many of his friends/coworkers could do this. I could see in a moment of rage him snapping and killing nancy if he found out he was cheating on him or something. Indeed that is horrible in and of itself but there is at least a bit of understanding as to why. What I can not begin to understand is how or why he could kill his son. This is what is really confusing me the most...he kills Nancy and a full day later kills his son (of course assuming the timeline that has been presented is correct). I mean he must have just totally fucking lost his mind after killing her, maybe after realizing what he did. Because no man that is reported to have loved his kid so much by his coworkers/friends could possibly do that in any normal state of mind. He had to really really lose it. If he had a sincere mental breakdown....like a loonybin type breakdown, it makes it a little less painfull to realize what has happened but not by much. I just can't believe this has happened. ...and I sort of fear what the effects of this could be for the wrestlers and the business itself. No doubt a lot of negative light is going to be cast onto pro wrestling yet again and who knows what then. -

It really is depressing and almost angering how some people in this thread are behaving. I suppose there are more teenagers and kids on these boards than I realized. -

I wonder how on earth the WWE will go about things on smackdown and raw next week after its known he did it himself. I mean I would hate to be in their position. I am just sick about the whole thing...just disgusted. -

I agree. i just prey this isn't the case. I'm not sure how in the world the wwe would go about this if its found he did it. Whats irritating about this is some sources say the police said its being investigated as a homicide while downhome posts something that strongly implies benoit did it. is the observer, keller or anyone saying anything beyond what we already know? -

By the way, if anyone can post any new updates from the torch, observer, or pwi it would be greatly appreciated. As one would expect there is a lot of traffic there and I can't connect to any of them. edit..i was able to get this from the observer There is very little conclusive regarding the death of Chris Benoit, wife Nancy and son Daniel. The three were found dead by the sheriff's department in Peachtree City, GA, after a WWE official had called because they had been unable to reach Chris after numerous attempts. Lt. Tommy Pope told the Associated Press that it was being investigated as a homicide pending results of a preliminary autopsy report that will come out tomorrow. No gunshot wounds were found. -

Its also possible nancy flipped, made up a story to get him to come home and proceeded to kill him. I just hope and pray to god that benoit didn't do the unthinkable. Its hard to even fatham this considering the comments about how much he cared for his family and why would he just up and leave and go home to do it? it doesn't make sense. -

We don't know anything about anyone but that's apparently been ruled out. Thats what I think too by the wording of that story. But I'm seeing people elsewhere saying it might be possible. i personally refuse to believe that until i hear otherwise -

I'm very curious to see how they handle this. I'm guessing that those who do want to speak will be allowed to but considering how loved he was, I don't know if anyone could possibly do it. How rare it is for someone in wrestling to be universally liked as Benoit was by everyone though. I mean think about that for a moment, besides eaton who else has ever been liked by everyone? Very good point by Australian Pride, we should not forget a child and a woman lost their life as well. The most horrible thing to ever happen in the world of professional wrestling. -

7 or 8. So tragic. Benoit had two other children from his first marriage. the torch says one was in canada but PWI says all 4 are dead LOOKING NUMBLY AT THE PASSING OF CHRIS BENOIT by Dave Scherer @ 6:55:00 PM on 6/25/2007 It's no secret to anyone who reads this site that by the time that the early 1990s had come around, I wasn't the biggest fan in the world of the product that the WWF and WCW were producing and I turned to the Japanese tape trading market to get my fix of hot wrestling action. I still vividly remember, just like it was yesterday, seeing this amazing young Junior Heavyweight in a mask named The Pegasus Kid and telling myself I needed to see more this amazing young wrestler. Of course, we later got to know him as Chris Benoit. Seeing him wrestle just once I immediately knew that I had to get my hands on any tape that had any matches featuring this amazing, flying technician on it. I even pointed my 10 foot satellite dish southward to Mexico in hopes of catching him on any broadcast where he appeared while he was in between tours of Japan. Seeing someone like him do his fantastic reassured me that the wrestling business, despite not being in the best of shape here in the US, was certainly alive and well outside our borders. In a lot of ways, seeing guys like him do what they do kept my faith in and hope for the business alive. Later he came to ECW, his first real exposure in the US as a big time star. He had worked for WCW before, but in ECW he was presented as what he had become, one of the best wrestlers in the world. I still remember the night of the first ECW fan convention in 1995 at The Flagstaff in Jim Thorpe, PA where, with a wink, he made reference to the ring to a bunch of "Internet F***heads", only to be mildly surprised when calling the group that actually got a pop. It was a changing time in the US wrestling business and Benoit was a central figure in it. He left ECW and went to WCW on one of the first big money deals that guys his size would have never gotten before. He later left WCW, with his Radicals brethren, for the WWF when the group decided that they would rather walk away from big money deals in Atlanta where they may be booked poorly to try their hand up in Stamford. They literally put their money where their mouth was. Once there, he did something most people in and around the business never thought would happen, he tasted championship gold. Through it all, Chris Benoit was, in addition to being an amazing worker, truly a revolutionary force in the business. Today, far before his time, this fine man and incredible professional wrestler, as well as his family, are dead. Honestly, I don't know what to say. I am truly numb right now. I have all the same questions that all of you do. What happened? How could it have happened? Jesus, how the hell could this happen? In the coming hours and days, we will find all of that out. But right now, I am numb. And sad. And just absolutely shocked at the news. A husband, father and son is dead, as is his family. We can wonder how it happened and try to make sense of it, but in the end it's fruitless. Four people have died well before their time and it just shouldn't have happened. Whatever the reason is, it's a senseless tragedy. Tonight on Raw, a stunned group of people in WWE will pay tribute to the man and his legacy. We will all respect that and show our appreciation for the man. I still can't believe that we have to though. This has truly left me numb. I am sorry if this came across as rambling but I just don't know what else to say. Rest in peace Chris and family. If you can hear us, know you will be missed because you most certainly will be. -
