You definately aren't the only one because I feel the exact same way. Personally nothing would make me happier than not to see him on tv for at least 6 months. As bad as HHH was back in the day, at least he didn't have the worst move sets in the company, and to say that I'm sick of people falling prey to a glorified firemans carry over and over is an understatement X 100. He has been rammed down our throats for what seems like forever and pretty much buried anyone and everyone he has faced. With the exception of the backstage politics, there is no differance between him and HHH a few years back and Hogan during the 80s and 90s.

I don't think that was the case at all. I just think they didn't want to blow the Punk title win so soon. Although I argue it should have just been a DQ finish or non-finish instead if they wanted to wait and put the belt on Benoit. Logically, Burke and Cor Von lost the right to challenge but Nitro won on Tuesday...giving him claim to contend for the title. I think it would have made a lot more sense if nitro won with some underhanded tactics or by some fluke. By losing clean to nitro, who has been dropped to nothing more than glorified jobber lately, punk just lost a ton of heat for any program with benoit imo.

My disgust for cena holding on to the title against "all odds" over and over and over and over again, is right up there with my disgust for hogan during his wwf and wcw/nwo days. Jesus f'n christ I'm so sick of him.

Jerry Lawler charged with assault charges

If you turn your javascripts off, you can avoid all those annoying pop ups. If you use internet explorer (again with the javascript turned off). if you just press the stop button again, the gifs/adds will stop flashing. (can't do this with firefox unfortunately). If i was not able to turn the javascript off to avoid the popups or stop the animations, I certainly would not bother with going there. Personally I ALWAYS leave javascript turned off, unless its necessary to have them on, as its too big of a security risk.

Watching the replay of that bad bump, its an absolute miracle Punk didn't get seriously hurt on that one. I'd be willing to wager than another inch or fraction of a second delay in being able to turn in over, he could have broken his neck. Scary watching that to be honest with you. Its a shame the crowd is so dead, that should have been a decent moment between punk and benoit.

WWE General Discussion for June 2007

Fortunately foul play is not suspected so it appears that it was some sort of accident. Published Tuesday, June 19, 2007 'Sensational Sherri’ lived loudly but died quietly By Stephanie Taylor Staff Writer McCALLA | Sherri Schrull died quietly at her mother’s house on Friday afternoon. But “Sensational Sherri," as professional wrestling fans knew her, lived loudly. Considered one of the first ladies of wrestling, Sherri Martel, 49, was a WWE Hall of Famer, and an AWA and WWF championship titleholder. Her husband found her dead at her mother’s home in the McCalla community on the Tuscaloosa-Jefferson County line Friday afternoon, said Capt. Loyd Baker, commander of the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit. Baker said foul play is not suspected, but that Schrull did not die of natural causes. “The cause of death is pending her autopsy and toxicology report," he said Monday. She had gone to bed because she wasn’t feeling well, Baker said, and her husband later found her unresponsive at 12:45 p.m. at the home on Eastern Valley Road, where she had been living for the past year. Martel wrestled in the 1980s but became more high profile when she “managed" wrestling superstars like Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, and “Macho Man" Randy Savage. She was notorious for antagonizing good guys in professional wrestling. Professional wrestling managers hardly perform typical managerial duties. They function as sidekicks, usually for villains, whose antics turn the audience against the wrestler. “She was very good at knowing what to do ringside to get people agitated and interested," said Bruce Mitchell, a columnist for the Pro Wrestling Torch newsletter and Web site. “You knew you would get a show when you watched Sensational Sherri." Martel wore elaborate costumes that fit her persona; she would paint her face with dramatic make-up. When she managed, she was known to run around ringside swinging at wrestlers with a brick-filled purse or a shoe. “She’d dress up like a wicked witch in a bridal costume, for example," Mitchell said. “She was way over the top." Martel, however, was unlike the busty, bikini-clad female wrestlers on television today, he said. “She would fall into a table, get thrown around the ring and never complain. She loved it." “Everyone respected her. She was an attractive lady, but she wasn’t just eye-candy," he said. “She was really a pioneer and a trailblazer." Interviews with Martel published online indicate that she was born Sherri Russell in New Orleans. She said in one interview that she grew up watching wrestling matches with her mother and began training at 20. She trained under the famous “The Fabulous Moolah," reputedly the first female wrestling champion. She broke into the business by wrestling at small promotional events in Memphis and working her way up. She was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006. “She paved the road for a lot of others to follow," WWE chairman Vince McMahon said at the event. Wrestling fans have posted tribute videos and messages to Martel on Internet sites like YouTube. Mitchell said that Martel, despite her status in the community, was just a wrestling fan herself. He said he saw her at conventions and events in recent years. “She was just like a fan, having a good time and hanging out," he said.

Mr. McMahon "dead" - Now for the "whodunit" angle.

For the rest of the suspects I thought word was going around backstage that he buried himself when he couldn't keep a straight face. So, either it WAS scripted and we were wrong all along, or he really did give himself a push. I was thinking about this today and you know what, who the hell wouldn't laugh at him? the Mcmahon character has been this huge asshole and tough guy for so long that it would be only natural that at least some would be laughing at him losing his mind and acting like a damn robot that night, especially the faces. Instead mcmahon expected everyone to act so concerned about him. This guy has such a fragile and pathetic huge ego that its really sickening.

The origins of the Vince angle

More from keller A lot of people keep emailing me and posting in the Forum that people shouldn't be outraged, offended, or bothered by the Vince McMahon death storyline because deaths are written into a lot of scripted, fictional entertainment programs. The problem people have with the storyline isn't that Vince McMahon scripted his own death. Not at all. Again, zero. Zippo. That is not what people are outraged about. Nobody is offended by a death storyline in wrestling. It might be a bad idea because it goes further than typical "suspension of disbelief" allows - and "suspension of disbelief" is a big part of what turns an ordinary wrestling angle or match into a "money match." But it's not in and of itself offensive at all. What's offensive is that to get the Mr. McMahon Death storyline over, script-breaking, character-breaking shows dedicated to Owen Hart and Eddie Guerrero after they died are being reenacted, emulated, exploited. That is what is wrong. It's beyond insensitive. It's shameful. Those shows dedicated to Owen and Eddie, and all ten-bell salutes for that matter, are sacred. Or should be. Those genuine moments of announcers looking solemnly at the camera, as if to communicate to fans that this is "different," we're not in storyline mode, are sacred, not to be exploited for ratings. Those genuine ten-bell salutes or the gathering of wrestlers - heels and faces - breaking character and hanging their heads in tribute to a fallen commrade are not to be exploited for ratings. It's just wrong. If there is no way to pull off a murder storyline in a "believable" serious fashion without exploiting those situations, then just don't do the storyline. There's a reason death hasn't been written in wrestling storylines over the years in any major top programs - because it just can't be pulled off effectively, at least not without insulting the viewers or offending those who really have died. Asking Vickie Guerrero to stand on the stage with the wrestlers in the same manner and posture for a moment of silence as happened after her husband died is sick. It's wrong. It's inhumane. It lacks basic human decency. Now ten-bell salutes don't mean a thing because it's been cashed out for a storyline. Nor do wrestlers breaking character and standing on a stage together hanging their heads. They could have camped up the McMahon Murder Mystery and avoided those scenes. Or they could done a totally straight-faced "Missing Persons Investigation" and accomplished the same thing (at least as it's played out so far) with wrestlers cutting promos, as Mr. Kennedy did, saying, "If they never find Mr. McMahon, or if he never returns, I want to say I dedicate my career to him." Steph could have given the same promo, but instead of mourning the death of her father, she could have been concerned for his safety and worried about where he is and whether he ran off confused and disoriented or if he was kidnapped by someone with evil intentions. The option they chose, though, is obviously and undeniably not just in "bad taste," but offensive and indecent. Exploiting the emotions generated from the tributes to real wrestler deaths is beyond justification. It's sick. It's sad. It's unjustifiable. What makes it even more sad is how unnecessary it is, too.

So if it's not natural causes, does that mean murder, O.D., etc.? Either that or some sort of accident. Considering the amount of police that is mentioned, it might not be an accident but that is just speculation on my part.

WWE General Discussion for June 2007

I glanced around and didn't see this posted but wow if this is true MARTEL UPDATE- Dave Meltzer stated on his Wrestling Observer Live radio show Sunday night that Sherri Martel did not die of natural causes, and the case is still under investigation by law enforcement. Meltzer said the police were in abundance at Martel's mother's residence in Alabama where the WWE hall of famer was found dead Friday morning. As a result of Martel's death, WWE did discuss, in meetings, the possibility of dropping the Mr. McMahon "death" story line.

Besides everything associated with this angle being wrong, her coming out to that was a huge WTF? Here's a humble, somber, sympathy seeking victim coming out introduced by "fuck all you bitches, I'm the queen bitch" or whatever the fuck the lyrics are. lmao...I'm betting many others are thinking the same thing. A 3 hour raw filled with more mcmahon ass kissing and bad acting. JR looked like he was really struggling trying to put this crap over tonight but he should look on the bright side. With this angle, Mcmahon has turned the ENTIRE WWE into members of the Vince Mcmahon kiss my ass club. So he's no longer that much of an exclusive member. I still can't believe though they didn't have a Martel "in memory of" at the beginning. just damn.

The origins of the Vince angle

Keller with another blistering post tonight. Also of note they didn't even have a "in memory of" to martel when raw opened. PREFACE Let me preface by saying that I have never in nearly 20 years covering the pro wrestling industry been as disgusted with anything in pro wrestling as I was last week, culminating with the opening minutes of Smackdown. A lot of bad things have happened to good people over the years because of various powerful people in pro wrestling who have been negligent, greedy, dishonest, and vicious. For whatever reason, the exploitation of the emotions drawn from deaths of Eddie Guerrero, Owen Hart, and Brian Pillman - the gathering on the stage on Smackdown of all of the wrestlers to honor the "death" of Mr. McMahon - felt more offensive to me than anything else I've seen. I have yet to watch beyond the opening segment of Smackdown and considered skipping Raw tonight, only because the vile I feel toward Vince McMahon and those in power to shake some decency into him is raw and strong still tonight, days later. That said, I will write this ongoing commentary on the site and write a report as usual for the newsletter (which will be posted on the VIP site later). I am watching and reporting on this show because it's my job - not because I'm curious to see what comes next, not because "controversy creates hits" for the site, not because I'm looking forward to anything about this storyline. I am disgusted by WWE as a company right now. Their lack of judgment and decency, to put it mildly, has never been more pronounced. Obviously, the buck stops with Vince McMahon, who has lost his sense of good judgment. Those who had both the ear of Vince McMahon to change his mind and the ability to not participate and walk away with financial security the rest of their lives should protesting have lead to their firing share the shame for their decision to participate in this heinous exploitation of real deaths. That list includes but is not limited to: Stephanie McMahon, Shane McMahon, Kevin Dunn, John Cena, Batista, and JBL (who's included because he has Vince McMahon's ear as much as anyone else not on this list and more than some preceding him on this list, and because he's not seen by Vince a a goody-two-shoes, so if he spoke out, it would have really resonated with him). I have more sympathy for the wrestlers without the political power to say no or the financial security to walk away. Yet, I can't help but think if they all got together and staged a sit-in protest - and it would take almost everyone for it to work - they could have collectively changed McMahon's course also. (Undertaker is out injured and didn't partake, so he gets a pass, but he is among those who should be on the phone giving his boss an ultimatum to drop this storyline and apologize on air for it.) The positioning of Vickie Guerrero on the stage on Smackdown last Friday night to hang her head and mourn the fake death for storyline purposes of Mr. McMahon is what put an end to my viewing of Smackdown last week. Right now, as I sat down to report on Raw, the intensity of my lack of desire to stomach more of this storyline is greater than I anticipated even earlier today and this weekend. My feelings have intensified, not calmed over time. With that said for the record, I will now try to cover Raw as usual...

They will make money, as that auction is already up to $200. I know they will because there are plenty of morons out there willing to throw away money. It's amazing there are actually people out there willing to pay that much for something like that...of course its even more amazing people actually thought he died lmao

they almost always do it to everyone. Pretty pathetic if you ask me. You know it means a lot to the wrestlers to perform in their home town but mcmahon and company couldn't possibly allow them to enjoy it too much could they? Not saying everyone should always win in their home town but its almost a given if a person that is not a champion, they will be made to look foolish or lose. Just irritating at the lack of respect they have for the wrestlers sometimes. Nice finishing move by melina though. I'd like to see her try that on someone taller lol

They blew that when they drafted him to raw instead of having him feud with edge on smackdown. Good heel promo except the usual mcmahon ass kissing.
