Ohio Men are a helluva lot more Conservative than they were in previous debates.

McCain started good, but he lost it when he tried going back to the Depression speech. Obama needs to press McCain more on "how", which the Mod is doing well and forcing him to stumble.

Hm... Let me look at that again... Yeah, I'm going to call bullshit. Not only is that a fairly shitty reason (You're trying to point to hypothetical hypocrisy, for Christ's sake), but that's completely not what you were trying to do in the first post. You put forth the idea that criminals would be voting for Obama, when that was obviously not the case (Even the article noted this stuff, but didn't recognize it). That's a bit different than your second bullshit idea, which gets its proof from a hypothetical.

Whoa, go back for a second. Running on the idea that you've already won the Presidency is a bad campaign move? *Mind is Blown*

Okay, he's just spamming now. Oh, come now. If a picture of Boss Hog in your blog banner doesn't reassure you of top-notch journalistic integrity, what will? Damn elitists...

In non-Marvin/relevant news, John McCain has vowed to bring up Ayers at the final debate. Now, is this a good idea, or is this going to be his last mistake? I mean, I don't think Obama is at all afraid to discuss the topic, and the voters have yet to react well to negative attacks this late in the game. A readied Obama getting this question, to me, could finally cut this discussion off right on national television. That seems like a very bad thing for McCain, who can't seem to get anything working for him. Cutting off this avenue might make things academic.

Thats swell. Criminals for OBAMA! It wouldn't be a day in the CE folder without Marvin pulling out an unsourced claim. I sourced it to the Pocomoke Tattler, truly a bastion of investigative journalism. So let me get this straight. You're angered because former criminals who are not - Currently in prison - Currently on parole - And not under the three-year wait for certain crimes can vote? And that those who aren't convicted of anything are still allowed to vote? So, to quote another ACLU lawyer you want to say "Welcome back, pay taxes, don't vote." Sounds like a sound way of reintegrating people into society. My God, former felons (Edit: Upon further reading, it doesn't seem as though there are restriction to just felons, either) and felons who have yet to be convicted can vote! God help us all!

    Your city's most-loved team

This is the reason I always thought the Red Wings/Avalanche Rivalry of the 90's into 2002 was the best in sports. Out of 7 Stanley Cups, these two teams won 5

Colorado and Michigan are south? Minnesota? If you're from Canada, I guess so. Colorado especially shouldn't be too huge a surprise. Part of the reason of having the convention there AND the general public come to Mile High was that it would turn into a giant on-foot army of door to door. Well, I was referencing North Carolina, Virginia, and now apparently there are gains in Georgia. Edit: Okay, in looking for the Palin/ASP speech, I found a surreal Larry King Panel on the election which has Charles Barkley and Ben Stein sitting next to each other. Huh?

Looking at Pollster today, things just keep getting worse for McCain. Wisconsin and Minnesota should be turning towards Obama soon, while Colorado(!) and Michigan already have solidly gone away from him. Looking at the contested states, I'm just amazed: Of all people, a black man from a multiracial couple looks poised to crack the "Solid South". This is history, people.

Dude, the WSJ article doesn't even get McCain's health credit right; it's $2,500 for individuals, not $5,000. And Jerk already got the "Marginal Taxes suddenly turn into Total Taxes" problem with the deal.

Hmm. Say Hello to Socialism! Yes, because giving banks money for non-controlling shares is really upping governmental controls! I mean, that's what I call taking complete control over the banking industry. Expecting any article Marvin posts to have anything beyond speculation and "anonymous sources" is truly asking too much.

    The Hockey Thread - October

As tempted as I am to write that off to being Vancouver, you bring up good points. The main advantage I'd see in taking them is really age and potential more than anything. I'd still say Datsyuk's defensive game makes up for Ovechkin's offensive game, but it's all relative.

Good effort by the Wings in a 3-1 win tonight. Thoughts: - The team chemistry still isn't there. You can see glimpses of what it could be: In the 3rd, there was a dominant shift by Datsyuk-Hossa-Holmstrom, and they probably should have had one goal on it. Babcock is still mixing up lines, but the team feels like they're not quite out of the pre-season and into the regular season. - Valterri Filppula's contract already looks like a deal. The last two games, he's been one of the best players on the ice each time. Everything about his play feels more confident, which make me very happy. - Ty Conklin is awesome. Man, the 90's bred a lot of late-bloomers when it came to goalies, didn't it? - Watching him play, Pavel Datsyuk is (arguably) the best player in hockey today. He doesn't get as many points as Crosby or Ovechkin, but his game is the most complete in the league and (again, arguably) the world. His backchecking is amazing, as it seems like he can sneak up on anybody and pickpocket the puck. It's sad that he doesn't have a Hart Trophy yet, though he sorely deserves it. - Of all the players, Jiri Hudler just doesn't seem to be himself. Maybe it's because he has been playing on a higher line than he's used to, but his passes and his stickwork seems to be off. In other news: - Kyle Quincy is gone. I'm mixed on this; he's an okay player, but he was horrible in the preseason. He looked tense and hesitant, and a lot of the press said his performance in the untaped games were just as bad. I suppose if we had to lose an alternate defenseman, he'd be the one. Oh well.

God, this sounds exactly like what happened to Jiri Fischer, but they got to him in time. 19? God, that's horrible...

    What's the worst

Ugh, that's another terrible one. Porcine nicknames just cannot turn out well. They're pork chops! Awful! You cannot name your team after your dinner! See, at least Iron Pigs aren't edible.

    What's the worst

Yeah, a pudgy bear with a Hawaiian doesn't really scream "I'm going to fuck things up!" to me. I like the artistic style on the logo (I hate the "Photoshop Clean" logos so many new teams have), but "Tourists" is just such a weird choice. Czech: Worse than "Iowa Chops"? I mean, it's not long, but that's a lot of shittiness in only a few syllables.

    What's the worst

See, I like those because they're both unique and have a local/regional origin to them. It's one of the reasons I like the Columbus Blue Jackets. Generally speaking, all WNBA franchises are horrible, Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards pretty bad, too. Generic animal names for young/expansion franchises are pretty irritating, too (Detroit Tigers is good, but if a franchise sprung up in the NBA called the ____ Tigers, that's crap). I agree with Czech that most of the singular pronoun teams (though I think Avalanche has worked very well).

So now the Marvster is an Obama birth certificate truther. The plot thickens... http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/ar...ficate-part-ii/ http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/birthcertificate.asp http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=...mp;pageId=73214 (far right website) I'm sorry, but I laughed my ass off at this response. Seriously, the retardation necessary to think that a candidate for President isn't a citizen of the United States and has gotten this far is... well, I'm not sure Marvin should be leaving his house without his court appointed guardian. Talk about fucking stupid. As far as the October surprise, the Ayers thing has been around since forever, and hasn't worked well on independents and such. The only thing I could see as qualifying is the results of the Alaskan investigation into Sarah Palin, but that's not conclusive enough to truly swing things. Edit: My God. I think it's obvious that the Illuminati have been setting up this one for quite a while. We must not let this come to pass!

No, because I think people are firmly committed to changing things. They're tired of Bush and what has happened on his watch. McCain isn't enough of a change (if a change at all) on economics. Since the spiral leading up the election and likely for the next year will be blamed on Bush, I don't see people suddenly switching Republican without some sort of stock market miracle occurring.

Were there a lot of Red Wings fans in Ottawa tonight? The place sounded a heckuva lot friendlier than I thought it would. A better game, but still not up to speed. It's good to see second-tier guys like Franzen and Flip stepping up for the Wings.
