Fox is holding off on Pennsylvania, but they are admitting that there is a significant edge in the exit polls.

Where did they move to, Canada? King is pointing out that McCain is underperforming EVERYWHERE in comparison to Bush. The comparison is actually a very interesting and telling one.

Trying to preserve journalistic integrity? I agree with RepoMan; they're still a damn good news source, and they're trying to keep the image of the best, rather than the fastest.

Not sure. All I know is that Marvin has a negro riot fetish, since he's been dreaming about it continually. I think he jerks off to video footage of the LA riots in the early 90's.

Well, Obama has won Dixville Notch, the first precinct to turn in their votes, 15 to 6. Apparently they haven't voted Democrat since 1968. Take that as you will. Anyone remember when Jobber called the Youth Vote the "Mythical Unicorn of elections"? I can't get into Facebook without seeing about 50% of my 200+ friends loaning out their "status updates" to the Obama campaign, along with dozens of psyched up notes about getting to the voting booths at 6:30 and 7 A.M. With that in mind, I think this comic has a bit of metaphorical weight:

On-topic: Pollster makes its predictions.

SNL hasn't been good since 1994, or thereabouts. It might have some good players (Ferrell stands out), but it was never as good as the stuff which came before. The point of the question seemed more likely to find out her thoughts on why the Republicans are becoming a whites-only party. And the point of me posting the link to the video was that her response was stupid beyond belief. Eskimos may face racism in Alaska, but for her to say that she's lived the struggle of racism because her very white-looking husband had a few Native American great-grandparents is absurd. Excuse me, but I can totally relate to her answer. As a person of French-Canadian descent, I often find myself singled out and discriminated against. Don't talk like you understand what we're talking about.

Stop trolling please. Thank you. Thank you.

Well, I'm sure they could appeal to other minorities. I mean, if she wasn't using her demagoguery to imply that all Arab-Americans are somehow less American than small-town folk, she might get some more support from there. I mean, just as a start.

Hey, I signed up as Nightwing. I'm not sure whether or not I should post until after the election.

Sorry for the double post, but I'm listening to the two French-Canadians pranking Palin, and it's absolutely amazing. "We have someone like Joe the Plumber in France. We call him Jacque the guy with Bread underneath his armpit." Edit: Apparently it wasn't a double post. Thanks, Hyperchord!

Okay, so my "Fall of Rome, Rise of Europe" class got way off-topic early on, and the (apparent) McCain supporter was trying to put forth the idea that ACORN's false voter registrations were throwing off the Democratic/Republican voter identification levels, which was leading to Obama's lead in the polls which don't evenly distribute between parties. I almost called him "Marvin" by accident, for sheer creativity in blending multiple stories together like he did.

Link me; I'd love to see this.

The vast majority of problems in the Middle East were set forth before the US was a power player; the European partitioning of the Middle East with no consideration for ethnic or religious concerns is the true bedrock for a lot of problems in the Middle East. While the US has certainly not helped the situation, cbacon's assessment is rather narrowly focused; the region was screwed up long before the US was truly messing around with things, and we are hardly the only power that has messed with the politics of the region. But Jingus, you're ignoring the fact that Iran was quite helpful initially with the war in Afghanistan and offered huge diplomatic concessions to the US in 2003. The Bush administration's ridiculous approach to Iran fucked all this up, and it all went down the drain in 2005 with the election of the hardline conservative Ahmadinejad (with the Iranian public probably driven toward support of this douchebag by the Bush administration's rhetoric). Now we have two hardline administrations in place and have seen absolutely zero progress on the nuclear issue in the past years. No serious foreign policy analyst--liberal internationalist, realist, whatever--thinks that the Bush/McCain approach to diplomacy with Iran is the right one. That's why you see crazy shit like Republican Senators Lugar and Hagel endorsing Obama's foreign policy. Wasn't part of the problem with Iran also big protest of the election by the more liberal student movements in regards to perceived electoral problems? I distinctly remember hearing about massive protests against an election they felt was rigged. Not saying that Bush didn't cause the shift towards conservatism, but I don't think it was as much the people who made the choice for Ahmadinejad.

On the lighter side of things, Obama and Palin have apparently gone to Venezuela to improve their defense credentials.

While they are equally irritating, hanging a black man from a tree in a mid-South state has a slightly different connotation than hanging a white woman on the West Coast. I don't know if guys like Matt or Marvin can see this, but I can somewhat understand why someone in Kentucky would be so quick to denounce such an action, while someone in California wouldn't.

Was anyone else expecting the guy to say "Osama bin Laden" at one point? After Rick said "Who?!", I was totally waiting for it.

Rouge economist? So he specializes on trends in the cosmetic industry?

Overall, with the continued negative campaign by McCain, this infomercial did well to keep McCain looking bitter, angry, and petty. It might not have been the most substantive thing he could have done, it was a good primer for those who still didn't know what the heck he was about. Overall, a "B" for the thing; not exciting, but it did the job it needed to: make McCain look bad without actually saying his name.
-
I think people have the "Reverse-Bradley Effect" wrong, though. To them, it concerns black voters, but I think that white voters in racially-charged areas (Like the South) might be more reluctant to tell a pollster that he's in favor of a black candidate.
-
As much as I disdain Wikipedia, there are a lot of interesting cites in the article, particularly related to this election. Actually, one of them pertains to this, a Harvard study. It stated that it was real, but with the decline in issues that were traditionally more racially-charged (Welfare and crime), it is no longer applicable.

Francis Fukuyama is now endorsing Obama.

Civil rights aren't a "state issue." Fuck that noise. Try this fun game with Same-Sex Marriage: Replace the "Same-Sex" with "Multi-Racial" and see how people's opinions change. I'm sure that will go over well in some states!

So the market is up 889 points today. Did Romney get within 400 miles of Wall Street?!

Sarah Palin believes in you!... As long as you're a God-fearing, Muslim hating patriot in the Pro-America part of the country.
