Yeah, God forbid he takes your points and shoots them down one by one. And I thought he was a nurse... When did I claim our medical system was flawless? An efficient solution is not a perfect solution. Don't put words in my mouth. I simply said its better than anything else out there, and asked for proof otherwise, and gave an incentive for such.

No. You obviously do not understand the priniciples behind the allocation of scarce resources. Neither do you probably understand economics, social welfare, or any rudiment of modern philosophy. Believe it or not, the American system is largely blind, because it is based on the ability to pay. A system should be judged on how efficiently it allocates its resources across society so that overall societial utility is maximized...aka, what is best for the country as a whole.

Our primary care is better~! Fools! Okay. If anyone can prove to me, beyond a reasonable doubt, that there exists a better healthcare system than the United States, that is more cost-efficient, provides as much variety of service, provides better quality service, and serves more people, and does it all with much reduced wait time, I will mail you 20 bucks. Arguments I will accept: Statistical surveys, research articles from reputable journals, anything that is based on data that can be falsified if it is indeed wrong. The offer stands for 2 weeks. I make this offer because I know it doesn't exist. I mean, (OMG HE'S GOING TO SAY IT) it's not like I don't do this stuff for a living! There will always be winners and losers. I follow the money, that tells me enough. There will never be a world where the poorest poor and richest rich have the same house, the same income, and the same health care. Get over your socialist dreams. Say hello to reality for me. Give me the system that gives everyone the best opportunity, that is completely blind to your race, gender ethnicity, and only relies on your ability to pay. I'll take that over rationing any time.

Whoops! Iraqi explosives disappear under our guard
Stephen Joseph replied to Rob E Dangerously's topic in Current Events
This is such a non-freaking story. OMG. We don't know if bad stuff was there or not, they didn't check everything close enough...WHEN THEY"RE IN A WAR ZONE TRYING TO WIN A WAR. Geezus Chist -
We wouldn't see much change. Laws of economics tell me this. Right now, the US is paying high prices so that the rest of the world has health care. Should we allow reimportation, all these other countries will get to pay prices alot higher than they are right now. US prices could drop, but not by much, since were the largest buyer in the market. Supply isn't going to dramatically improve. Our health care system is a welfare system for the rest of the world. Oh, and about the rest of the world's crappy health care system. Money talks. Follow it. The rich people in foreign countries come here, and that tells me that our doctors are that much better. Of course, it will be argued with, by someone who doesn't understand economics. Sigh

We've had some pretty good shows over the years but we don't have them archived very well. What about an OAOAST classics folder where we can archive the top 3 ppvs, top 3 shows etc?

my god INXS, that's it. You're freaking dumb as rocks. Click the link...its the Freaking DOD. That's a government website, no some shmuck blog. Would you care to retract your statement and acknowledge that yes, it is indeed a real bonafide statement from the real Donald Rumsfeld? You do believe that is the DOD website right?

The real cheater - Bush had an earpiece!
Stephen Joseph replied to UZI Suicide's topic in Current Events
You've got to be shitting me Okay both sides, you're acting like 6 year olds in a freaking sandbox Kerry didn't have a notecard. Bush didn't have a mic. Get FREAKING OVER IT. If this is the best EITHER side can do to convince others to vote for their man, I sure hope KANG or KUDOS comes and runs here instead. I mean, really. How freaking Immature are we going to get here? No one had ANYTHING. There is no conspiracy, there is no Cancer Man, and there is a Spoon. 1 month before the election, and we're debating THIS? -
The worst I've seen was done in retribution for a blatant late hit on a QB. Jack the guy up by his shoulderpads and have your buddy tackle the leg above the knee. From what I hear, it tears the ACL pretty bad

Since when did ideas decide American elections. Money will. I hate to be cynical, but it will. Advertising sways. And please, calling these things debates is a shame to the word. We all know what a real debate is.

Iraq War: Should've done it in 91. Mess now, but don't want my friend's death to be in vain. Gotta stay the course. Big Gov't/Small Gov't: Smallest frigging government possible War on drugs: It's a demand problem, not supply. Legalize, focus on educational campaigns, remove the profit incentive that illegality brings. Abortion: its your choice, live with it. Gay marriage- the government should not be involved in sanctioning marriages, only civil unions. Churches sanction marraiges however they please. Social programs- Education is the only thing that the government may be able to provide better than the market...MAY. Scrap the rest. Taxes- Change the tax code...starting to think consumption tax might actually work Pledge- For Pete's sake, say the Pledge. Our country was founded by guys who deeply believed in God, so whatever. It's part of history, so don't deny it. Guns- Unregulate the market. Affirmative action: past its prime. We don't need it. Scrap. There are better ways to incentive minority enfranchisement. Use economic incentives. The courts: Tighten down the ability to sue. Make it mean something. Death penalty: Keep it. It's an incentive to not do something. We need to make it more credible by reducing the time to you get axed. Across borders racial profiling- Uhh, what can we do here, its human nature to fear outsides. Medical Care= Stop the lawsuits and break up the AMA union. Strictly speaking economically, THEYRE the ones keeping the prices high Bush= Average guy, trying to do what he thinks is right. He's decisive, for better or worse. Decidedly NOT evil (Kerry isn't evil too) and anyone who says he's evil is full of shit. Get it? Hitler was evil. Mussolini was evil. Stalin, Nero. Not Bush. Not Kerry. Get over your rhetoric. Kerry= EBad economic policy, period. Not solid leadership, but bright fellow. The kind who would be thinking up all alternatives and having lots of meetings. Not exactly fast-acting

It's a time of reflection, of prayer, of being with God, what we are called to do. Church though, really, is everywhere and not confined to a building. We're called to be reflective, honor God, and act in His ways both in and out of Church. In reality, Church is not a place, we just made one and called it that. It's like practicing football for your team, or whatever. You have to keep sharp to be at your best. Sunday was chosen because it is the Sabbath day, and by God's will, we are not to work on the Sabbath, but reflect and spend time in worship and glorification of him. Economically speaking, we go to church to retain our religious human capital, to derive the benefits of our investment into it, and to further develop it. It also provides time for other things, like being with family etc.. Some people go to church every day (Catholics tend to have a late day quickie mass around 5:30) Others go Wednesday and Sunday. I hope that helps

Thank you. And for more work on the free will argument, please look up Soren Kierkegard, who may just have one of the best philosophical defenses of Christianity around (well, he is dead, but you know) Augustine also talked the issue of free will. I quote. "Granting that every event has a cause, he points out that human will is one of the causes of action. Hence the causal power of the will is part of the overall causal order of events foreknown by God. The paradox is effectively resolved by the distinction between the knowledge of a cause and the cause itself: God's knowing in advance that an event will necessarily occur is not the same as His causing it to occur." --Great Traditions in Ethics, Peterfreund

As per statistics, look up the central limit theorem...sample populations approximate normal populations at a certain size, nothing changes by adding observations etc... so yeah, what the guy said, small sample sizes are valid as long as theyre chosen at random

Drat then Drat on me Well I suppose I have to excuse myself anyways, Cappa and Poet are already in matches. I was supposed to have Cappa/SJ vs. Poet/Dandy. Sigh
