Stephen Joseph tries to figure out why four hooded guys beat up his lightning crew Heck, I'll make it more mysterious...Stephen Joseph gets duped!

I used Quant, not qual. Quant's just my speak for odds and stuff. Econ bullshit I deal in everyday. I assumed that since you can't have tells and reads you have with the live players, playing a bluff is much more risky, so people play the cards and more represent their hands the way they are. Thanks for the suggestion though. Whence I get the time, I'll check it out. Good luck with going to the WSOP.

I play Texas or Omaha about once a week with some friends, our buy-in is pretty much 5 to 30 dollars depending on how serious we want to be. Like Tuesday night, when half of them had smoked up, 5 bucks. They're good players, but they play way to aggressively. I play a conservative style (modeled after Harrington) that keeps me at least 3rd and moneyied every game (we play with about 9 people starting) I'd thought about playing online, and I imagine it would be much more quantitative in terms of playing strategy which fits my style better (and math background) but I don't know where to start and where my time is. I've got Hoyle games and I play on that sparingly.

Former Nat. Security Advisor Under Investigation

It's another example of just complete carelessness. Don't we long for the days in which our only security failures were because of really good enemy spies and not bungling ineptitude. We've gotten soft n fat. -
Let's lighten the mood for one thread......

Hey~! Check these things out, one of em is in Britian. You can get 10:1 odds on J-Lo and Ben being together at the end of this year. Don't even ask, no I didn't take that bet. But no seriously, one of my professors set up one of these things for DARPA, you might remember that one where people made a fuss because of options trading on assasinations and terrorist attacks and it got canned. yeah. i love our department

Hey you're talking to "let's stop talking about Florida" number uno over here. It went to SCOTUS as it should have, they made a decision, life goes on. I'm just countering Mike's comment that Fox made the right call. They didn't. Nobody called that it was going to the Supreme Court, but also it wasn't a right call because Gore got more votes anyway. Yeah, that wasn't directed at you JOTW

Actually NCM, Kerry didn't gain any momentum from choosing Edwards. There's plenty of futures trading sites that deal in reality events, who wins elections and things. Before choosing edwards, the price of a 10 dollar future was $5.50 for Bush and $4.5 on Kerry. After Edward's nomintion, Bush's share went down 10 cents but Kerry's remained unchanged. Thus, for some reason, these futures traders think its about 55/5 split on probability. Probably the reason it didn't change anything was that these guys probably knew Edwards would be it so it wasn't new information. For fair and balancing issues, last November? Bush's futures shares were priced at 6 bucks...so he has dropped a bit.

Well, some people around here actually like the fact that I speak and talk about matters Tyler. I mean, I know what I'm talking about, and back it up with facts. Nothing is more frustrating than when the facts are laid bare in front of someone and they refuse to believe the reality as is. And it is very tiring to hear the same arguments brought up time and again without any further changes in the fact aside from hindsight and imperfect updating. And yes, Tyler. I've been proven wrong. And I've changed my opinion when the facts spoke to changing. I don't give a damn about whether the facts support this or that. I only give a damn about seeing the facts as they are and having the right conclusion. I'm no expert. But right now, I've been at this seven years. Might as well call it as I see it.

You almost say this like Bush got the most votes. And what Arch said. Please people, like anyone else would've done anything differently. Hi. Justice department here again. Bush and Gore were a statistical tie. I've said that HOW many times? You can measure and remeasure, but any measurement will have error and bias. And finally, in the end, the SUPREME COURT of the US issued the right opinion. See my thread on the CONCURRING OPINION and why what the florida supreme court did was friggin unconstitutional. God, its been 4 years. Let it go. No one deserves to be president if they can't carry their home state.

The better question would be guessing the over under on the number of bush/kerry threads before Nov. 4th

I agree with Kahran on his point. That, plus an economy that's looking like 1983-1984 all over again (and I am not crediting Bush, he's just very fortunate its doing this at this time), to me it seems very unlikely Bush will win. People, after all, only vote their beliefs when their wallets are empty.

So why did Saddam have to go...

China is hardly a threat. Their government is stable, they're liberalizing their economy and political system, and they have the position as the leader of the Asian hemisphere. They're not going to destablize their geo-political influence. N. Korea is way more of a threat. Their government is unstable, it is largely unfed, poor, and backward. They, have nothing much to lose and alot to gain by making a play. *Of course, I'm referring to the leadership, not to the starving masses* But then again, what do I know, I'm just a *notes sig* -
Fox News STATEMENT/MEMOS O' HILAIRTY
Stephen Joseph replied to Jobber of the Week's topic in Current Events
If they used copyrighted material illegally, that's a fair charge no matter which political orientation you are. I'll be interested to see how FNC proves it and where the case goes. But really, it's an OMGFEUD+RATINGS~!
