As if I didn't have problems with truth in F911, here's something more. I don't know the leanings of the Naples Daily...don't care. What would you have done. I've got no respect for Moore, if I had any left. Source: http://www.naplesnews.com/npdn/florida/art...2985640,00.html Text Sarasota principal defends Bush from "Fahrenheit 9/11" portrayal By Associated Press June 24, 2004 SARASOTA — Michael Moore's film "Fahrenheit 9/11" criticizes President Bush for listening to Sarasota second-graders read a story for nearly seven minutes after learning the nation was under attack on Sept. 11, 2001. But Gwendolyn Tose'-Rigell, the principal at Emma E. Booker Elementary School, says Bush handled himself properly. "I don't think anyone could have handled it better," Tose'-Rigell told the Sarasota Herald-Tribune in a story published Wednesday. "What would it have served if he had jumped out of his chair and ran out of the room?" "Fahrenheit 9/11," which won the top honor at last month's Cannes Film Festival, portrays the White House as asleep at the wheel before the Sept. 11 attacks. Moore accuses Bush of fanning fears of future terrorism to win public support for the Iraq war. Bush told the federal 9/11 Commission, which released its report last week, that he remained in the classroom because he felt it was "important to project strength and calm until he could better understand what was happening." Moore says Bush failed to take charge. Tose'-Rigell, who was at Bush's side, did not hear what White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card whispered when he squeezed past her to tell the president of the attacks, but "I knew it was something serious." "The president bit his lip and clenched his jaw," she said. "I didn't know what happened, whether it was something with his wife or children or something with the nation. I remember praying that God would watch over our school and protect our children." She said the video doesn't convey all that was going on in the classroom, but Bush's presence had a calming effect and "helped us get through a very difficult day." Tose'-Rigell said she plans to publish her account of the morning of Sept. 11 from pages she wrote in her journal following the attack. The principal said she didn't vote for Bush. "But that day I would have voted for him."

Counterpoint: Kerry lied? No way ....... *awaits the flaming*

Jesus Christ, go buy yourself a fucking sense of humor A sense of humor is too expensive I opted for Jaded and Cynical

Counter: How did they know it wasn't? What do you do in a bad situation Assess Then Act It's called government protocol, which is neither right nor left I swear people, learn how our government works
-
West Wing is full of idiotic policy ideas that wouldn't work either. God bless you hero.

You say this Yet you only know this in hindsight There's thousands of people who 20 + years experience who knew immediately what was going on. You think they were trying to figure out what to do? Yes. Are they smarter than me? Yes. They're smarter than you too. BEFORE a President jumps up, You HAVE to know what's going on. The President stays safe at all costs. You've brought nothing but hindsight arguments... I would ask you to do this. Go research what protocol is in emergency situations. marney knows best about these
-
No. The core of the problem is that you have a region where governments can extract their 'rents' 'profits' 'operating incomes' without having to tax their populace. Historical theory and anecdotes indicate that when you have a monopolistically extractive resource, a government will co-opt, use it, and to hell with accountability.

You better not be referring to what I posted, which I hardly consider Bashing. More like...wtf man? Look. I ain't conservative. I hate spin from both sides Right now, its disgusting the spin Moore has on this. I WANT a president to act calm, especially with those kids present. that is the best thing to do, by far.

Q: How many US Senators have any integrity?
Stephen Joseph replied to Lando Griffin's topic in Current Events
I've had alot of respect for him over the years as well Kudos for him to make this vote, even though he knew it wouldn't do anything. -
So I lied SOURCE!!!! USA TODAY!!!! Excerpt Who did it CHIEF JUSTICE REHNQUIST, with whom JUSTICE SCALIA and JUSTICE THOMAS join, concurring. We join the per curiam opinion. We write separately because we believe there are additional grounds that require us to reverse the Florida Supreme Courts decision. Why But there are a few exceptional cases in which the Constitution imposes a duty or confers a power on a particular branch of a State s government. This is one of them. Article II, Section1, cl. 2, provides that ''each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct,'' electors for President and Vice President. Thus, the text of the election law itself, and not just its interpretation by the courts of the States, takes on independent significance. In McPherson v. Blacker, 146 U. S. 1 (1892), we explained that Art. II, Section1, cl. 2, ''conveys the broadest power of determination'' and ''leaves it to the legislature exclusively to define the method'' of appointment. Id., at 27. No one argue about the case now. Thank you.

Excepting for the fact the the Florida Supreme Court usurped the Constitution for its reversal of Harris' handling...yeah. Freaking idiot. Everyone go look up the Supreme Court case, and look for the CONCURRING not majority, opinion. Legally speaking the Florida Supreme Court commited the violation of the Constitution. If you're not willing to read up on it, I'm not posting it. I mean jeez, I just work for the freaking Justice Department. This judge is an idiot saying the election wasn't legit.

Republicans create delay in Senate voting
Stephen Joseph replied to Jobber of the Week's topic in Current Events
Yes. -
Yes. You may not have the effectiveness *rather hard to enter politics* but you can survive. True Libertarians = Jeffersonian liberals economically conservative socially liberal it works. But you won't see libs winning an election anytime soon. EDIT In the American South there exists the Southern Democrat, which kinda comes close to being conservative with money and liberally social. See Miller, Zell.

"Nobody wants to listen to left-wing radio."
Stephen Joseph replied to Jobber of the Week's topic in Current Events
If theyre around in 05, itll still be losing money. Hey, do you think I think FOX NEWS losing 150 million was smart? No. Fox could have made a better return elsewhere. Remember, I am not a conservative. I'm a libertarian economist. $ is the bottom line, and I care about getting the best return, politics be damned. If I could make a higher return investing into a Kerry T-Shirt than investing in the market or elsewhere, I would in a heartbeat. I do not see droves investing into Air America. I do not see outside financial agencies investing into Air America. It is simply a very bad investment, an unproven concept with an unproven track record with very little market penetration. I do not see positive financial numbers. I care about their earnings reports, their potential earnings. Losing 2 out of your 4 markets is BAD for ANY firm trying to startup. SImply put, alot of startups fail very quickly. Market penetration is EVERYTHING to advertisers. Listener participation doesn't matter. How many people can hear you when they're flipping stations, that matters. Also, citing statistics that are subject to lots of revision over the coming months are bullshit on both sides. Stop it. Wait 6 months. Then let's see where these things settle in at. Mark my words: If investment to Air America comes from private individuals and NOT private investment firms, I am fully confident in saying the likelihood of that being VERY risky and VERY likely to have no return is VERY high. -

which is why Air America will be gone before the end of 05 -
Sweet Jesus. Triumph? News for Today. Moore, upset about his R rating "Well gee Mikey, you put a guy getting BEHEADED FOR REAL! on your movie, what the hell kinda rating do you expect", told reporters that he wants teenagers to do whatever they can to see the movie, encouraging them to break the law. Lovely fellow eh? I didn't bother with a source. No one bothers to read all my econ sources, so I am not botheing anymore

Stephen Joseph replied to Jobber of the Week's topic in Current Events
Yeah, supposedly the large numbers were a fluke. Face it, when you're only in two major markets and can't keep your doods in line, you've got problems. Air America was a decision based on wants, not on smart investment. They couldve done better elsewhere doing something. -
Umm, everyone knows about it INXS. Its on the news 10 times a night. Look. These troops are dead, Let them come back to their families without any angles from either side.

Baron, I looked at those odds. Let's see what I get All politics aside, here's a simple formula on placing a bet. Place the bet if the expected payoff is positive and better than you could do in ANY alternative. If I thought about things, I would give Bush a slight statistical advantage to being re-elected over Kerry's chances to be elected (55/45) Not that this statistical advantage was gleamed from previous election years results and current conditions. Some economist keeps probability numbers. Anywho. you have two outcomes. win or lose Outcome 1: 10 + 11*.45=14.95 Outcome 2: -10 Weighting: -10*.55 + 1495*.45 -5.5+6.73 Expected payoff, about 1 pound Therefore Baron, if you took this bet, your expected payoff is a pound. Even though the payoff is positive, its not positive by much. I think you could find a better place for your money.
