This is true. Hopefully this girl that EHME knocked up gets the right idea and leaves him and takes up his part of the responsibility for the kid's sake. Either this, or EHME kicks it into gear with the kid. I'm not a fan of single-parent homes. If there's another parent there to help share the responsibility, it's usually better than one, unless the second parent is abusive or bad, etc.

This question "major changes as a result of the financial crisis" is the low point so far. McCain suggested a spending freeze on everything but defense, veterans' care, and "several other" places, and Obama almost went around it completely. Although Obama's response to the spending freeze proposal was a good burn though: "[McCain] is using a hatchet here instead of a scalpel."

You and me agree on a surprising number of issues, I think we would get along well. But a child needs more than just not beating them. It's just a fact that children develop the best and most happily under constant love, attention, and affection.

Obama is doing a good job at outlining specifics.

Futhermore, don't tell us you're having a kid, relate the ways that you still haven't changed, then expect us to just shake your hand instead of calling you on your shit. Do me a favor, pick up a book on developmental psychology. Not a book on how to raise children, but developmental psychology, and maybe then tell us what you learned.

Whether it objectively has or not is irrelevant, as long as some kind of arguement can be made that it has. You can always find some kind of numbers or statistics to back up your claim, no matter how ludicrous the claim may be. And some people will believe the claim, for a variety of reasons. Maybe they agree with your reasoning. Maybe you just happened to catch their ear at the right time. Maybe it's one of those cases where it's a claim they'd never heard before, but kinda makes sense once it's been proposed to them. There's all kinds of ways to manipulate people into believing propaganda, and doesn't require them to be so stupid that they can't properly dress or feed themselves, which seems to be how you view the poor Republican demographic. This is the worst point anyone has tried to make on this entire board.

And then you direct your first argument at entrepreneurs. Businesses and businesspeople. "before jumping everyone's asses." Give me a break. You and Eric really are the same. And yes, Eric is being pretty stupid for raising all his red flags to a modest disagreement on those arguments. Instead of, I don't know, illustrating a counterpoint, the only thing he could muster is THAT DOESN'T WORK LOOK IT DOESN'T WORK even when if you argue against lowering taxes for businesses or people, you should know that it has little to do with Wall Street's meltdown this month. My arguments up there were tax breaks for businesses, and could potentially be expanded into the higher class, but nevertheless anything that doesn't immediately help the middle class is, I guess, something that is so philosophically disgusting to Eric that he can't see past his own liberal dogmatism to see ANY potential benefits. Believe it or not, tax breaks for the rich and businesses does have a leg to stand on. Both you and Eric treat disagreement like children, and I think anyone who's read this thread (or, hell, the global warming thread) could see where I'm coming from on that one.

Eric, you're comparing two different things. Don't be stupid. The financial crisis' roots lay in things other than Reaganomics.
