Weed is absolutely a gateway drug. There's no use debating it. Don't rely on rhetorics to be your main argument.

It's kind of apples and oranges with prescriptions and actual drugs. I don't think that argument really holds a lot of water. There would be a lot of problems with just simply legalizing it. For one, weed is a gateway drug, and when you legalize it, although crime and arrests go down, use skyrockets, which leads to other drugs. Not to mention for those who complain about the number of arrests and shit, that's mostly for effect. They know that it's going to come from another place. Arrests are meant to help shift the demand curve left. As the demand for drugs is largely inelastic (that being, changes in price don't affect the demand much), changes in the supply curve are ineffective. However, shifts in the demand curve are more drastic in the long and short run.

I'm not going to go looking for Director's Hall screenings, but if the opportunity arises, then I typically won't have any qualms with going. It's a nice moviegoing experience. The chairs usually are very comfortable and large.

Oh I missed that part. Wow that's stupid. Although my dad was raised Christian Scientist, he never goes to the doctor for shots or pills (just for checkups on his cholesterol and conditions... just numbers and such) and he's the healthiest guy on the planet.

I see your point Jingus, but I just remain that I wouldn't buy into it if it became manifested. I think it would be just too large of a hurdle to make Mr. Freeze a believable and realistic character to even consider incorporating. It's fine to ignore certain aspects of the original characters to try and fit in with the aesthetic of the movie, but to make Freeze Nolan-worthy would mean stripping him of his essential aspects.

We can go back and examine all that now, but the willful suspension of disbelief only goes so far. I don't remember much of Batman Begins so I can't comment on that, but who's not to say that I wouldn't pull punches on that? The Dark Night is the better movie of the two, and for good reason. One being the portrayal of the main villain. The Joker isn't some crazy mystery. We know who he is and what he's up to. Of course, we don't know all the details of his plan, but that's to be expected. Besides, the whole bomb scattering thing isn't a question of just plain weird characterizations or anything. Mr. Freeze is a one trick pony, and I just can't imagine how a guy who freezes people can be taken seriously in the kind of movie that is looking for realism. Bombs, knives, those sorts of things, they're all real, and that's the attraction. Freeze rays? I don't think so. AFAIK, he's not even that important of a villain in the mainstay of the series.

The Bottecellis - Stay With My Brother I saw these guys open up for Panther a while back, and they're a great surf/nostalgia band out of SF. They've got a great sound going for them.

I thought that Iron Man was just kind of a fluff movie. High budget, but not really anything there in terms of content. Well, there was Tony Snow, who's character didn't amount to anything besides snappy one-liners, and then the almost instantaneous creation of the supervillain. The movie was all over the place and the plot development was about as formulaic as you can get. More than half the movie was inconsequential and served only to help Tony Snow better his ass-kicking machine. Did you see it had fucking rockets and shit? Woah. None of the characters, for that matter, really made the movie memorable. I saw it in the same vein as Transformers, just a really fucking loud movie made to make 15 year olds pump their fists in the air.
