I'm going to enter your room next time you sleep... stab and smother you with love, bitch. That's more like it. -
That's a fun guessing game: what movie will knock TDK out of the #1 spot? Admittedly, the competition isn't terribly strong over the next month., though with every passing week the chances of that happening get better. Here's the upcoming major releases: July 25: Stepbrothers, X-Files 2 August 1: Mummy 3, Swing Vote August 8: Pineapple Express, Sisterhood of Travelling Pants 2 August 15: Star Wars: Clone Wars, Tropic Thunder, Mirrors And peeking at the next few weeks after that, it gets even lamer. I don't see any surefire hits until High School Musical 3 and Saw 5 in late October. So I'd say Mummy has as good a shot as anything else at being the first one to slip past TDK. ...godDAMN that's a lot of sequels. Sisterhood of Travelling Pants 2. I'm calling it.

Yeah, whoops, I remembered that as soon as I posted.

Zsasz escaped from Arkham and wasn't seen since. So it's a distinct possibility that he's still out there. That would be a good contender.

There wasn't much of that in this movie, but I totally agree.

I don't want to watch a movie of Bruce Wayne rehabilitating for half of it.

I disagree with the Depp nod. The Riddler's pretty insane and all-out, and I don't think that's the right pick for Depp. Look at his most famous roles. Jack Sparrow, Edward Scissorhands, Sweeny Todd, the kid who got eaten by the bed in Nightmare on Elm Street. All pretty reserved characters. With the noticeable exceptions of Raoul Duke and Willy Wonka, but somehow, I just picture the role being closer to the Carrey interpretation. Haven't seen him act much, but I like how David Tennant just looks for the part. And for the record, please stop berating the actors, like Carrey, for ruining the characters in their respective movies. Those were choices in direction, writing, and production. Ledger did an awesome job as the Joker in this one, but he was pointed in the direction by Nolan, the producers, and the writers. He took it the rest of the way. If they cast him in, say, Batman Forever, and told him to play a silly, crazy Joker, then it would be a different movie, of course. But the choice was made to focus on the personality and subtleties of the Joker's dynamic rather than just have him be a laughing maniac. Continuing, Nolan struck gold with the direction he pointed the Joker in. He was, underneath it all, just an "engine of chaos" in makeup. He wasn't a traditional Marvel supervillain in the sense of having superpowers, nor did any freak accident take place, nothing like that. The success of the Joker role is going to point to the selection of the next villain. For me, that rules out villains completely out like Mr. Freeze, Scarecrow, Killer Croc, Bane, or even Ra's al Ghul. Besides, weren't The Scarecrow and Ra's al Ghul already in Batman Begins?

I'll take Mr. Mime.

No it won't, you're friends with me now. You better buckle up your fucking seat belt. I experienced this once before. It's actually pretty cool. I prefer shaven thankyouverymuch, but I prefer it to the standard black. -

Can I just go ahead and take like 30 clones of Bart Oates?

I'm not a fan of the mob plots. I just think they feel hackneyed. I'd rather see Batman deal, like in TDK, with supervillians. I think that the whole mob thing just got in the way of the Joker.

June 8th, I believe. I missed out on my last summer with everyone, which I regret. So far it's kind of been just day-in, day-out with school... and I guess that will continue into the fall and spring. -

This is no joke. He introduced me to the presumed bass player of our band as "my new boyfriend." Then ensued one of four said hugs. -
Forty-five dollars on a goddamned 3 DOORS DOWN shirt? Wow.

I'm sure that was a matter of direction, not how Carrey personally painted the character. The whole movie was silly, and it was supposed to be a silly role. Frankly, I think he'd be pretty good as the Joker again as long as they pointed him in the right direction. Saw it again today, and Gyllenhall's performance stood out more to me this time, not in a good way. The lines are poorly written, and I don't think that she had enough teeth to play the parts that required them. Some of the other parts were performed fine, but nothing really above satisfactorily. My vote for a Joker recast if there is one: DiCaprio. Why don't they do Holiday for the next one? You could tweak the story to accommodate for Dent, and I think it would be a pretty bitchin part.
