Lawler should have trained his cardio not to gas out then. Can't blame Miller for taking advantage of the opportunity if it is there. Lawler's a dumbass, but so are people who are now claiming that Miller is some sort of uncrowned champion at MW. 3 of his biggest wins have happened in this manner, and there's little reason to believe many Top 10 guys in the division would fall into the same trap. Of course, it's a moot point, as Miller's getting bank from ICON, and now that Leite has been signed by the UFC, Lindland is the only top quality MW left roaming. Miller has been crowned a champion though. Last I heard Miller was getting a guaranteed 40k per fight. I don't think he's top 5 by any means, but I think he is top 10. I meant in comparison to his PRIDE & UFC counterparts. Off the top of my head... Franklin, Lindland, Misaki, Gono, Henderson, Loiseau, Marquardt, Horn, Filho & Silva would all rank ahead of him, IMO, with guys like Leite, Tanner, Leben, Terrell, Kang & Acacio arguable. -

What about Ivan Salaverry? I think he's locked up with the WFA for now. -

And since I brought it up, Thales Leite vs. Nathan Marquardt has been signed for either UFN 7 or UFC 64. -

So Miller beat Lawler this weekend, in his typical "Homer Simpson" fashion: Get pistol whipped for the early part of the fight, then finish your gassed opponent. Oh, yeah. Champion material there. -

Well if we're just gonna' let the world know we're giant gangster fags, I'll go with "Breathe Me" by Sia. -
The only noticible difference nowadays is that Wlad is better at holding on when hurt (and often when not, as was frustratingly apparent against Byrd). His defense has never been that bad, and for all talk of his balance, I don't think trying to improve it makes it any less likely that he can be easily dropped if hit cleanly.

Thanks for humouring me and replying in the wrong thread with me, bud. -

Dude, even before his retirement Bernardo was beaten by guys like Goodridge & taken to the limit by Erikson. Even in his prime, he most likely ends up Random Tyson Victim #30-something. Also on the subject of how different boxing & kickboxing are: Might Mo absolutely embarasses former heavyweight title holder Francois Botha, then handily loses his pro boxing debut. -
For all the talk of Wladimir's weak chin being overstated, does anyone really doubt the likeliness of him tumbling down the next time he gets caught by someone with legit power, or will having Emmanual in his corner magically keep him on his feet?

Lei Tong replied to Lt. Al Giardello's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Miller, Hieron & Stevenson are some of the more notable guys he's cornered, though you can also hear him screeching one of his more infamous lines during the Koscheck/Leben match: "KNEES TO THE BUTT!" -

I'd hope so, seeing as how neither of you are retarded. Oh, and did you guys make out? Pics? Anyways, Laimon's always been obnoxious and overrated, but most of the shit he said was pretty on the ball (especially in regards to Royce), but probably grated Serra even worse because of his personality in general. How can he be overrated when he's not even a fighter? Because he's a pretty mediocre cornerman, especially in regards to how sought after his services are. Duh. -

I think I've finally decided on "Instancias (Los Vigilantes)" as my entrance music once I become a journeyman MMA fighter. What'll be [you]r's? -

Pretty much. Luckily for him, he seems to have gotten over being completely petrified once things start getting rough, so assuming he doesn't come in looking like he did against Williamson, he should be a solid favorite. Of course, I'm still rooting for Brock.

To be even more specific, it's what Kerr said to an official backstage immediately following the match, proceeded by him trying to procure some painkillers, as chronicled in "The Smashing Machine." -
Odd circumstances aside, Florian did completely humiliate a guy Spencer was simply too dumb to beat.

It's been a while since a UFC card has featured so many guys I want to lose badly.

I'm actually suprised McCarthy let it go on that long. Babalu got his head bounced off the mat a few times before he finally lurched over and played dead.

Who's the most beatable/unbeatable champ in the UFC?
Lei Tong replied to Youth N Asia's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Franklin's takedown defense is solid, but nothing special. However, he's well rounded enough that getting taken down isn't a huge problem for him, as he has very good hip movement and defense in his guard, and has some submission skill from there. Also, his striking both from range & within in the clinch (aided by his huge-for-a-MW frame) makes it hard to set-up a shot or bodylock anyways. Against Lindland, it's important to remember that despite being a great wrestler, Matt is also succeptable to being taken down himself, and though his guard has improved much over the years, Franklin has some very good G&P that would likely put a hurt on Lindland should he end up on his back. The stand-up is also easily in Rich's favor, so while Lindland would likely be one of Rich's toughest test, I think Rich would have to be a favorite going in. -

People still doubt Rich this much? A good wrestler is going to either get KO'ed or armbar'ed by Rich unless they bring some other skills to the table. Of course, I imagine this is discussing Lindland, who is far beyond simply a "good wrestler." -
Actually, he's going to have to beat Miller, Trigg, Sherk, & the loser Penn/Hughes again, this time with PrinPrin's Bracelet.

I'm just happy that Hironaka's not going to get raped in his UFC debut.
