As bad as it sounds, I wonder how many in the crowd actually remember who Adrian Adonis was.
-
This should be entertaining
-
"Orton is hurting just as bad as I am"... God, I hate Shane McMahon.
-
Shane looks to be in great condition for someone who went to the hospital... And I swear I hope Orton punts his freaking head off tonight.

Down goes Cena! Down goes Cena! Down goes Cena!

Yeah... there were definitely crickets chirping in the area...
-
That was pretty damn funny... Would have been better if he had made that kid cry though....
-
I still find it funny that Vicky gets more heat than most of the heels on the roster.

Just curious as to what everyone thinks about this newest edition to the line-up... The episode features: -A Jay Youngblood squash -A Sgt. Slaughter interview/squash -A local market Ivan Koloff interview -Sandy Scott offering to put up a $17k 1982 Cadillac in an effort to bring in new talent, which segues into a Tommy Rich highlight video -Roddy Piper coming out to rant and rave (Offering to sell his grandmother to the Huns for 17k)... Ole Anderson and Slaughter come out as well -Sandy Scott counters them with a highlight video of Angelo Mosca (Featuring Lou Albano in the video) -An interview with Youngblood, Steamboat, and Jake Roberts -A Jimmy Valiant squash -Roddy Piper comes back out and rants on Steamboat -Recap of a Steamboat match where Piper jumps him -A local market interview featuring Jay Youngblood and Ray Stevens, which segues into a Jimmy Valiant interview, and then segues into a Blackjack Mulligan interview -A Ricky Steamboat/Jake Roberts vs. The Super Destroyer/Grappler match, which ends with Piper and Ole Anderson getting involved (Sonny "Roughhouse" Fargo is the ref) -The rest of the video of Piper jumping Steamboat from earlier is shown All in all, there is a ton of major names on this show, and I hope they keep showing this series.

Plus you have the built in story of how they met at the only other Wrestlemania in Houston.

WWE General Discussion - February 2009

Like every other stock, it's taken a big hit recently (It maybe under $10 a share at this point). Still, the way the market is... it's bound to rebound so if you hold it long enough, you might get a good return. -
No it's not. Wrestling is storytelling. Nobody will question the in-ring talent available to TNA, but it's the creative team that sucks - you know the people who script out the shows, the writers. Exactly. He made compelling characters of guys who've since flamed out of the wwe. And his critiques of the wwe and TNA for the UK Sun are usually spot on - he still gets it. You're a fool if you think that TNA's writing and angles are what's causing their bad ratings. It's people not knowing they exist and therefore not tuning in. It's bad marketing, plain and simple. I'd say its half and half, half the booking which is inconsistent as hell and half the marketing end of it. If they consistently had great booking year after year, there would be more of of a word of mouth towards the company that it's worth checking out, and if the booking wasn't as bad as its been here and there, ppv buys would be much more significant than this, considering well over a million people do check out Impact every week. Agreed. I know about TNA and have from the start, but I cannot bring myself to watch it, even if it does have talent I'd like to see succeed (A.J., Joe, and a couple of others)

I remember watching this show and how they loaded up on it because Nitro was being cut short due to the NBA playoffs. And seeing that date + Owen Hart on the listing is a bit depressing considering he'd be dead in under two weeks.

I remember the Rockers vs Orient Express match fairly well. The Rockers lost when Shawn took a handful of salt to the eyes from Mr. Fuji. While I don't remember much about the Brutus Beefcake match, I have pictures of him making his entrance, and Genius reading a poem in the ring. The Ultimate Warrior vs Mr Perfect match was a lot of fun. Where did you find that listing? The History of WWE Hot damn... found the listing for my first show: WWF @ Birmingham, AL - Civic Center - June 1, 1990 Paul Roma pinned Buddy Rose Jake Roberts pinned Bad News Brown with the DDT Akeem defeated Hercules WWF Tag Team Champions Demolition Smash & BA fought Bret Hart & Jim Neidhart to a double disqualification Rick Martel pinned Ronnie Garvin Hillbilly Jim pinned Black Bart Earthquake defeated Jim Duggan

That is the key to why Paul Heyman might just be a good fit for TNA. He had a good to great mind for wrestling, specifically for what his audience wanted, but he had a terrible mind for business. If he doesn't have to worry about money, then I think he can do a good job, see above statement about him in OVW. The same goes for Cornette. As old school as he is, I wish they would to hell with it and put him in charge of creative. We would then get a true alternative to the WWE product.

Let's Talk About...Dusty Rhodes' WWF stint
Diamonddust replied to King Kamala's topic in General Wrestling
I thought that was some other valet Dusty used during the NWA Days (Sweet Georgia Brown maybe?), or it could be both... I've heard that story before, but I can't remember who it was referring to. As for his time in the WWE, he made the most of it, and from my memory as a kid, was pretty over with the crowd. He definitely had a lot of baggage due to his days of booking for Crockett so I think he knew he wasn't in a position to complain about anything. I don't know if it's true or not (I think Dusty said it so it's 50/50), but he wanted Patterson's job and basically used the Polka-Dot gimmick as a way of saying, "Hey... I don't care if I act a fool... I'm serious about this and will still get it over." -
Yeah... there was no way they were going to acknowledge Dusty's past. I mean... look at it this way: They had Hulk Hogan as the world champion, and then you're going to put Dusty Rhodes up there and say he was a world champion as well? (Just in the comparison of physical looks). Many have speculated Dusty's run in the WWE was a test to see if he could take the crap given to him (Polka dots, Sapphire, etc.). You also had the fact a lot of the locker room had past dealings with Dusty, and there was heat because of it.

I'd peg her for crystal meth... blow tends to be expensive. -
It happened about a year before I got into wrestling full time, but I still remember flipping the channel and seeing the end of that episode.

The 10/11 NWA show next month is the last pre-Magnum T.A. car wreck episode. And it looks as if we're getting the pre-Wrestlemania I All-American Wrestling as well. -

The other wildcard is what Steve Austin will do. I know him wrestling is up in the air (Some say it's still on, some say he's not in the condition, etc.), but with him being inducted in the Hall of Fame as the "headliner" of that group, it's safe to say he'll have some involvement the next night at Wrestlemania. -

I agree with you about the Taker title reign, but I think the benefits you mention (and the downsides to the alternatives) outweigh the that minus. Plus, if Taker beats Cena, that puts him on RAW, with potentially fresh feuds. I'm also tired of the smirking Kevin Nash-esque face HHH (basically DX HHH without any teeth), so a heated, personal feud with Orton would do him some good as well. And I'm sure USA would be all about having Taker back on Raw. Although if Orton leaves for Smackdown, does he take Legacy with him... and if he does, who comes to Raw to balance things out? -

Agreed.. And Cena would be booed out of the building in Houston if he was pushed as a legitimate threat to end the Streak. As for the whole Rourke angle, I know it won't happen... but this is BEGGING for Jake Roberts to be involved... whether Jericho brings him out, or he gets on the side of Rourke with Piper and Flair.
