WWE 24/7 Discussion Thread - November 2007

Yeah... it was the stories about both characters that made the episode. Michael Hayes' story about getting pulled over in a drug search and Sheik almost getting them arrested was hilarious as well. -

Just watched the new legends show... I thought it was pretty entertaining, although my favorite is still the Andre the Giant/Iron Sheik episode and the Monday Night Wars episode. I did like the fact that Jim Ross said we'll be getting a future episode that will be about the wrestling territories... which should be real good. It'll be interesting to see if the keep Taz on the panel for that one, especially since Lawler, Rhodes, or even Graham of all people could have more insight. They have the habit of using the same cast due to them taping all the episodes at one shot. -
He would have flaked out eventually. The Warrior was not going to make an impact on things whatsoever at that point.

That and the Soviet Union fell. He started being announced as hailing from Lithuania after that. As Lisa Simpson put it in a classic episode of The Simpsons, "Politics have changed the face of wrestling, perhaps forever." -
I bet Thanksgiving around the Hogan house was a real humdinger.

Paul Orndorff was the contingency plan if Andre was too injured. IIRC, that's why the had the draw in the cage match at SNME a couple months prior. I think Hulkamania had already taken off, the Andre match only cemented it. They might have attempted another offer at Nikita Koloff. They wanted him to face Hogan at Wrestlemania II, and as it's been said before, Hulk Hogan vs. Nikita Koloff would have sold out any stadium in the country. Provided it wouldn't have been weird with the Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff teaming up at the time, that would have been pretty cool. Do you think Koloff would have been on his own or would he have ended up in the Heenan Family? (Or with someone else?) I would have brought the other two "Russians" - Uncle Ivan and Krusher and have Ivan be the mouthpiece like he was in JCP. Ivan was a former WWWF Champion and the angle could have been him having his nephew Nikita taking down the great American hero, Hulk Hogan, to regain the World Title for the Koloff family and the Soviet Union. You could have also had Volkoff team up with them as well. I guess that means Demolition would never happen. It could have still happened... they could have still repackaged Krusher into Smash after his usefulness in the Nikita/Hogan feud ended, or they could have found someone else to play the part.

Probably would have come in as McMahon's corporate champion against Austin and had a nice feud with him, which would have meant that we wouldn't have gotten the two Austin/Dude Love main events.

If he keeps using the Redneck Destroyer, Murdoch > Cade. I hate the destroyer, but Murdoch is great. But based on looks, size, and being a pretty good worker, I see more potential in a Cade push. With Dusty Rhodes now behind the scenes, I'm kind of shocked they haven't gone all out and made Murdoch a complete Dick Murdoch clone by now... "Captain Redneck" and all.

My favorite Austin line from the episode was when he told the ambulance driver, "We're going straight to hell!" -
I don't remember this dude at all in WCW. He was nothing more than a glorified jobber in WCW. I believe he was involved in the racial discrimination suit against WCW because he felt like he didn't get pushed because of his skin color... when in reality he didn't get pushed because he sucked ass.

Listening to Shamrock publicly call out Mike Tyson on RAW is pretty interesting. Needless to say, the Austin/Hart angle was one of the best they ever did. -

It makes me wonder why DiBiase never wore green on a regular basis. I mean of all colors... green should have been his major one. -
Agreed on the ankle lock, but when it's put on you for real... it hurts like a mother.
-
I thought at one point Vince was about to feed Finlay to Khali.
-
I can't believe I remember this, but the vest is pretty similar to the one Curtis Hughes wore when he was Jericho's bodyguard in 1999.
-
Agreed. I think tonight was designed to make sure the fans still remembered the Jericho trademarks, and it was obvious that they did. Still, very little could top the debut in 1999. When you have The Rock as a sparring partner on the mic, you're going to get good things.
-
Man, it's good to have Jericho back.
-
He's going to run out of time if he doesn't start talking soon.
-
WELCOME BACK TO RAW IS JERICHO!!!
-
So they look bad if they turn up on TV for another company... I understand...but you can make the guy look like a jobber. No need to make them lose to midgets, or get thrown in dumpsters, or any of the other shit they do. Like I said earlier... the WWE takes it to another level.
-
It's an old practice in the wrestling industry. You don't want him going to the competition looking like a million bucks. If he goes to TNA, the last image people have of Carlito is losing to a midget. The WWE just takes it to another level.
-
Finlay!!! Dear Lord... Finlay is going to kill him for that.
-
I think Finlay is going to beat him goodbye.
