The streak had to end sometime. Now I hope that they can maintain that momentum and resume their winning ways.

It's what makes the picture unintentionally funny...

Finished reading the Ron Moore interview. Good stuff - he's been around for a lot of different projects, it seems, including one that I'd have loved to see - Dragonriders of Pern. I remember reading about what WB wanted to do with it, and frankly it's better off being in limbo for now...

Ben Affleck Not Interested In Daredevil 2
starvenger replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in Television & Film
I'd lay money on that, too. The main problem I had with the first one was that Johnston was trying to cram way too much stuff in too short a time. -
Help me out here, which Trek series was Moore a lead writer for?

Well, since Beyonce is from Houston, it would make sense, so don't expect her to be performing. Clay Aiken, they might do, to help draw in the non-traditional male audience, but as someone mentioned, Fox might pull some strings to prevent that. Maybe we'll see a (sort of) reprise of the last MTV halftime, with Aerosmith + JT + Black Eyed Peas...

Eating lots of Thai food has taught me one lesson - it's not how you take it going in, it's how you deal with it coming out...

T-Mac: This must be like what my cousin went through 2 years ago. Now *I'M* the one they're gonna call overrated for the next 2 years...

not for me it wasn't.. Everybody's got opinions. That one was fine except for Britney's overproduced voice. Anyways, you know that since this show goes around the world that they'll need artists who are known around the world. And that means Your Favourite Indy/Punk/Metal/Whatever Band isn't gonna cut it.

I would LOVE to see Trish in Playboy. Ain't gonna happen. Right now, Trish can make a fine living doing appearances in Canada alone, so there isn't any real monetary incentive to do Playboy.

Speaking of which, the 50th Anniversary Playboy issue has some "blast from the past" shots, and one each of Joanie Laurer, Torrie Wilson and Rena Mero (as Sable). The question I have is, didn't they airbrush over the pink? Because it's definitely visible here...

That's interesting...I'm also a fiscal conservative and social liberal, but I put a bit more emphasis on the social aspect. I would never vote for the Alliance, because I couldn't stand their stand on social issues. At times, they come off like a bunch of Pat Robertsons. I've voted Liberal since 1993, just because they're the party that best fit my ideology. However, I've voted Conservative in the provincial elections. Not that it's made a lick of difference, since my MPP happens to be the leader of the Liberal party. I'm roughly there as well. Is that a "Red Tory"? I think the Alliance is a bit too far right for my tastes, and I think that the new Conservative Party of Canada is off to a bad start since their leader will be voted on right around the time when Paul Martin calls an election. Bob Rae managed to take a bad situation and make it worse during his tenure as Ontario Premier, which soured me on the NDP for everything but the municipal level. So this April (or thereabouts), I'll be voting Liberal (and for my incumbent), simply because there really isn't another good, stable Party this time around. And for the record, I voted PC last provincial election, and I think that my MPP (Frank Klees) is one of the few Tories left in parliament.

Bryan Singer In Talks To Direct X-Men 3
starvenger replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in Television & Film
The X-Men without Cyclops is like the Avengers without Captain America. The Cyclops-Marvel Girl/Phoenix-Wolverine triangle was one of the great things about Claremont's run on Uncanny. Since when has Gambit been a "tough guy"? He's a thief with a heart of gold. Well, until the whole retcon of him working for Sinister. Anyways, he doesn't work without a female to simultaneously charm/annoy, and since they're going with a Rogue/Iceman pairing, you'd need to keep Storm. Or, you could go the comics route and deage Storm and stuff, but that gets a bit complicated... They're probably better off trying to keep Rogue's powers the same, again to keep things simple. Given that we're likely to get a movie version of The Phoenix/Dark Phoenix Saga, the Hellfire Club would be pretty cool. -
The One and Only Survivor: Pearl Islands Thread
starvenger replied to fairtoflair7's topic in Television & Film
The Purple Rock of Death only came into play in Survivor 4 (Marquesas) when Pappy was eliminated due to the stalemate. It hasn't happened since, and in fact I think that the players work to avoid ties now because of it. I don't think he'll win, but he has a good case for it, as he has "played the game" to it's fullest, using a form of Rob C's strategy. OTOH, everyone seems to hate him, and may vote against him out of spite. My prediction is that he's first to go on Sunday night. And if he wants to go to the WWE, that's CBS' call, as they can control what the Survivor players do (in terms of media appearances et al) for about a year. -
Anyone knows where I can get a soccer jersey...
starvenger replied to KanadianKrusty's topic in General Chat
Not for soccer jerseys, no. I think you'll have to take your chances with online auctions... -
I think that one of BNL's older songs would have been more appropriate. I woulda marked out for "Be My Yoko Ono"...

OAO Greatest Comic Book Artist Nomination Thread
starvenger replied to Steviekick's topic in Literature
Man, how do you choose just one? Here's some nominations from me (that Kardo didn't mention): - George Perez (Avengers, Teen Titans, Crisis, some Marvel/DC crossover). Quite possibly the best team book artist ever. - Jack Kirby (Avengers, FF, X-Men, New Gods). I've never been fond of his faces, but his rendering of characters and scenes was amazing. - Darrick Robertson (New Warriors, Transmetropolitan). I wanted a dark horse (and another New Warriors artist) in the mix... -
Pretty much. But if it wasn't, then why do one? Check out the award girl - she's chewing gum and looking bored...

Funniest female character of the year: Marla Gibbs (The Jeffersons). Why? Because the other 43 named before here weren't there...

Good news for the juniors. Dunno what that does for the Pens, though...
