If Serra brings Trigg as a co-coach, it'd be cool if Hughes brought Shonie Carter in as a special coach. Carter and Hughes go back. I suppose the next suggestion would be Dennis Hallman as guest coach for Team Serra?
-
Funny thing is Trigg would look like an idiot smack talking Matt Hughes, because Hughes pwned twice. All the more reason to have Trigg around talking smack to Hughes, as far as I'm concerned...

Medical suspensions... whatcha gonna do, eh? Hopefully Sherk is motivated due to the forced time off. -
One punch! One punch!

There's always some batshit organization ranting about something. I guess we should be surprised that the Fraternal Order of Beatboxers weren't all up in arms about Blake losing?

They probably think Rachael Ray has a big ass as well. She was looking like the third Olsen sister at one point - they should be glad Kelly's eating again. Speaking of which I saw some pictures (from the Ellen show), and yep, the ass is definitely back.

Did he even get down to 161 during the show? -
Scary thought - I have a class on Wednesdays from 6-9. I manage to catch a bus that gets me to my station at 9:40, go to the gas station to get hosed on gas prices ($1.049/L [about 3.75L per gal]), do some cleanup outside the house, get in at 10:01 and they're juuuuuust doing the results. (Lost? Yeah, I gave up on that show) I'm sorry I missed Kelly's ass - didn't know it was back. I'd love a screen shot though.

You know that Simon says a lot of stuff during the season, right? There's a lot of "you could win American Idol" and what not. But yes, he did outright declare Carrie the winner halfway through the season, yet at the same time, people focused on Bo's performances, or Constantine's eye-fucking, or Savol pointing to the sky and thanking Jesus. As I said, all Carrie was, simply, was consistent, and never super-memorable. If you want to call that underestimating, well then that's fine by me. And yes, she was never in the bottom three. Bo? Was there once. I think that Carrie was the ultimate under the radar (well, as UTR as you can get when you have to stand on a stage and sing) competitor on this show. She wasn't always the best singer on any given day, but she was consistent and she never really had a bad night. But to me, her performances were just... there. Nothing to really write home about. But then the finale hit, and it was pretty obvious that the "hit single" wasn't designed for Bo Bice. Thus, all Carrie had to do was stay consistent. Bo got jobbed because the cute-but somewhat bland blonde chick would sell more records than the somewhat dirty looking guy who appeared in TSG. Obviously, they were right. Good call, 19 Entertainment. 1. Carrie had plenty of memorable performaces, most notable singing Cryin by Roy. 2. The point of the is to produce the best singer and/or the most sucsessful future singer. Carrie's voice blows Bo's away and Carrie's album is wildly sucsessful. So in no way shape or form can Bo be jobbed 3. Where is Bo now? Clay, Daughtrey, and even Pickler and Mcphee are more sucsessful than he is for a record POV. If he was so good, he would have made a decent record. Point 1 - I honestly don't remember any of her performances except for the single, which isn't the best sample of anyone's ability. Seriously, who approves these songs for release? Your point 2 is wrong. The show is a popularity contest based around singing - and in the finale, blatant pimpage from Randy and Paula. The recording contract is a carrot for contestants, but for Fox and 19 Entertainment, the show is what's important. If an album sells well, that's icing on the cake. As I previously pointed out, if the show were out to have the best singer win, Taylor Hicks wouldn't have won the title of American Idol, and Anwar Robinson would have at the very least been a finalist in season 4. Bo is, was and always will be a strong singer. I daresay that he is a better singer than Carrie. But the "hit single" is usually some sappy ballad, and like Justin, Blake and yes, Taylor, the song just comes off as cheesy when a guy sings it. It's very hard to overcome that, and Bo didn't. Carrie was once again consistent. She was good, but wasn't great, but since the "hit single" always sucks I discount for that. Good is generally good enough as far as the single goes. But let's face it - Bo had already appeared in TSG. You don't think that that had any influence on the two bobbleheads pimping Carrie at all? As for point 3, remember that 19 Entertainment owns their ass, and once you have a winner, it's up to them to "prove" that the winner was the right pick. How many 2nd place finishers have had an album better than the winner? One, and I don't even want to get into how they pushed Ruben aside so that they could make Clay Aiken a pseudo-star. They get their one album, and are pushed aside for the next second place finisher. I don't think that this is more obvious than with the season 5 crew. Taylor's songs were bad. McPhee's were worse. So Bo putting out a craptastic album? Unsurprising to me. This season, I figure that Blake is one and done anyway as far as singing goes. They'll probably give him a cushy office job at 19 Entertainment, so album quality is probably a non-factor. Jordin's gonna need a lot of production and direction to get a decent album out. Jordin... well, she's gonna need some help to make a successful album. But hey, Paris fucking Hilton had a song that wasn't entirely horrible (just bland) and 19 has managed to sustain Posh Beckham's career, so putting together something for a girl who has infinitely more potential than those two should be easy. Right?

Well, every show with judges needs a Paula Abdul, right? In all seriousness though, Ratner's a good choice since the guy's not even 40 and can probably relate to the assigned tasks (and competitors) better than Gary or Carrie could. And I'm sure that he's done enough things WRONG to be able to be critical about it, even if it's a Pot-Kettle-Black thing. But the funny thing is that when he says that he's seen all the contestants' films, I believe him. He seems like the kind of nut that would do that.

I'm going to sound like a broken record when I say that season three was pretty bad season overall. - John Stevens was a good Standards crooner who had limited range but got the sympathy vote. I forget if this was pre-VFTW. - Jon Peter Lewis made the Top 12 by virtue of looking like a pen salesman and doing the Thriller while singing Elvis. - Jasmine Trias was cute and had the Hawaii vote. - Leah LeBelle was Paula's Wild Card choice. 'Nuff said. - LaToya London was a good singer without much personality - Jennifer Hudson was incredibly raw. Never thought she'd ever get her "big break" by being in a movie musical starring Beyonce. - I hated Degarmo. Betcha couldn't figure that out. - George Huff was the best male singer, but something was a little... off with him. He did give us a great unintentional comedy moment in the Top 7 results show though. I'm not a big Fantasia fan, but looking back you realize that she'd have to try really hard in order to not win the title. As for season 5, I'd actually bump that DOWN to 5th best finale, simply because McPhee and Hicks was probably the worst possible combination of competitors from the final 5 (Daughtry, Elliott and Paris being the other three), and Hicks being the worst titleholder this far.

Especially with Emerson standing around, drinking a beer, going "WTF?" I'm sure kicking Wang out wasn't B.J.'s fault though. Dana made him do it. My feeling is that if someone on Team Pulver can't compete, Dana wants a replacement from Team Pulver. So at the time, Andy would be the #2 alternate behind Brian. He's probably #3 now after Mr. Indestructible. As for Wang's behavior, "Not a Bitch" weighed in on it: So basically, Wang was still trying to show loyalty to Team Penn. I guess he's never been fired before. He was probably still in that "shock" period that happens after you get the boot. If you've been let go before, you know what I'm talking about. Dana probably saw that too, and got him back out there. That or it was just an excuse to cut another f-bomb laden promo. You never know with Dana. 16-2 according to the Tale of the Tape. I'm guessing that the fights were the MMA equivalent of a Toughman fight, where Weems and the other guy went in there with basically no training. Kid's had a good attitude, but he was way out of his league.

I'll agree - neither one is going to be a megastar but I could see either one outselling Taylor, whose win still mystifies me. Breaking down the finals, I'd give the singing edge to Blake because he can be consistent. Jordin is going to get pimped but her problem is that she can be both oustanding and awful in the same song. She wasn't all that great in the Top Three and nerves could get her in the finals. Career-wise, Jordin needs this more because it's apparent that Blake has some semblance of a "five year plan", and could probably carry it out with or without the title. Jordin has none, which isn't that surprising since she's 17, and probably hasn't even done her SATs. In terms of judge pimpage, Jordin wins out. And I think that will win the title for her.

Gina Carano's out. Hope noone was planning on watching just for her. -
If Kitchen Nightmares is essentially the same as the British original, it should be a good, entertaining show, but I don't see it as a "must see". It's probably better suited to the Food Network, or a station that allows swearing.

OK, it's David Mamet, so I figure that this should be decent. Yet the plot synopsis makes it sound like a generic action flick. So whoever directs it could easily fuck it up. -
I think most of us knew that Private Practice was a go, but the backdoor pilot was soooooo boring. Wasn't Football Wives supposed to be one of their big shows for next season? Did the NFL squash yet another football-related show from the Mouse?

Makes me wonder how Vision does it without offing people. I'd just like to know what kind of fat guy wants to walk around pretending to be a good-looking chick dressed in schoolgirl outfits. That's a disturbing thought, man. Her powers are similar to Mastermind's, so I'd probably go with the homely/average-looking woman.

At least it makes sense to be on a Friday, what with the name and all. True, but If it wants to reach the teen audience, that's the worst time slot. Since most teenagers will be at actual football games on that night. Yeah, I got that. Still, it'll probably survive. I mean, Las Vegas is still around, right?

At least it makes sense to be on a Friday, what with the name and all. For reference purposes, Numb3rs had a 6.5/12 rating, while Law & Order had a 5.7/10 last week in the 10pm slot, and I know that Numb3rs at least averages over 10 million viewers an episode. So that's the kind of ratings that FNL is probably expected to pull in. But since I'm not a fan, I couldn't tell you FNL's current regular or 18-49 ratings are, but it seems like it would need to be high 1s in the 18-49 demo to be considered successful there. Seems achievable to me.

[Ron Simmons]DAMN![/Ron Simmons] Looks like I'm going to the strippers for this fight card. You gotta love it when you go to a strip club to watch TV: "Want some company?" "Not now - check out the way these guys are rolling around with each other." And it's not like I haven't done this either - I'm amused by it in general. Still, if you've got a boring match on, you can watch other stuff. But if the in house entertainment is also boring... well, I can't help you.
