It shows the importance of the hammer. Maybe it's only one extra training session to get the fighter prepared, but because of all the training, that could be a huge advantage. I was impressed by Emerson's takedown defence. It took 3/4 of the fight for Nate to take him down despite trying several different styles. And then he made Nate work for the submission. I gotta think that his performance has earned him first alternate status thus far. As for "Diaz Hates Everybody", they should include Manny as a running buddy, just in case things aren't crazy enough.

Bob, it was a 2003 movie. If people haven't seen the movie yet, they probably aren't seeing it now. And if it makes you feel any better, I think it was more of an amalgamation of Absorbing Man and Zzzaxx. I don't think it will though.

So did I but well, goodbye and good riddance.

Nigel is a possibility, seeing as he is an executive producer on Idol. You can normally see him sitting in the audience to Simon's left. As long as they don't try to be a Simon clone then they'll probably fit in.

I agree. Everyone else has a shot at winning (even if it's an Orlando Magic-like shot at winning the NBA championship). Phil? That was a farewell performance if I ever saw one.

I'm glad he didn't. I didn't want to hear a Matt Hughes-related song... This week was as gloriously bad as we pretty much thought it'd be. I think that Phil's still Dead Man Walking though, because really, noone gives a shit about Phil. See, that's a Jamie Gibson song. Not Matt Hughes. Haven't seen enough ROH to know that. But let's just say I'm looking forward to seeing if Serra can do the impossible (again) and fuck up the UFC's biggest asshole.

Two differant companys. Also, Marvel isn't putting out a $3 weekly "event" comic. Then again, they also couldn't put out a monthly "event" comic out on time...

To be fair, Fox stuck by Til' Death despite mediocore ratings, and the ratings did pick up. I like to think what happened with family guy and firefly maybe taught them a lesson. To be honest, I don't think Fox learned a damn thing. Family Guy was brought back because it's cheap programming. Firefly wouldn't have been brought back because Fox has no idea how to market Sci-Fi and it would've tanked. Again. X-Files was an exception, not the norm folks. The good news is that with the Idol juggernaut in full swing and House doing so well Fox execs may not have noticed the other ratings at all.

Maybe it's me, but I'd prefer Norton as the heel in a comic book movie. He always seems to be better when he gets to be a prick in a movie.

The Amazing Race: All-Star Edition
starvenger replied to Spaceman Spiff's topic in Television & Film
I lost interest in this season, so I haven't seen many episodes. But Mirna can't be worse than ***. There is no way anyone could be worse than ***. Mirna is bad in different ways. Plus, we haven't had to suffer through two seasons of you know who. -
The Amazing Race: All-Star Edition

Once again, teams fail to realize that the Yield is there to be used. Also, at least three teams have used the Yield and WON the Race, so yeah karma's a real bitch. Chip, Kim, the Linzes, Freddy and Kendra are all crying and using $100 bills to wipe away the tears thanks to Yield Karma. I figured that as well. Time penalties are generally shown only when they affect placement or could affect placement. Otherwise they calculate time credits and penalties to come up with the "official" starting time for the next leg. Ao given that both teams were trailing, and both would be assessed the same penalty, there was no need to bother showing it. -
I was mistaken - it was Nathan Filion and some blonde who could be Amy Smart. Given the premise of the show, I don't think it really matters.
-
Sportsline.com does some decent interviews and such, but it can be sporadic.
-
I caught a little bit of this. Why are Breckin Meyer and Amy Smart doing this when they already did Rat Race?

Corey fucking Hill being the voice of reason was tremendous. I think that the spear incident is one of those things that only happens on a reality show when people are incredibly bored. And remember, this is less than a week into the show (if the graffiti is any indication). Manny's fucking insane, Nate's somewhere close to it, Corey's a master trash talker, and we have yet to really see Marlon, Wayne, Brian or Brandon. OK, we saw Brandon as a talking head. Yippee. I love Penn's advice AFTER the fight: "Don't ever let your opponent pass your guard". Easy for Penn to say - he's got more flexibility than a Chinese acrobat.

You know, for a second I was worried that that was a Frenchie video...

This is beyond untrue. I'm not saying Haley is the most attractive woman on Earth, or anything, but easily (easily!) the most attractive woman to pass through Idol's doors. That's a strong, strong statement. I'd argue that Christina Christian, Kimberly Caldwell, Julia DeMato, Camile Velasco, Becky O'Donohue are more attractive. Of course, I'd probably also argue that Canadian Idol winner Eva Avila is the most attractive contestant I've seen on either North American Idol show. All a matter of opinion, I suppose.

Haley is way hotter than McPhee, THERE I SAID IT. LET IT BE KNOWN! That being said, I'm not sad to see her gone. Haley has a cuter face, was a bit too thin, and as Leena noted, her boobs weren't exactly in Jessica Sierra/Katie Weber/Brenna territory. She needs to talk to Pickler's surgeon before going on tour. Kat is (was? Lush help me out here) a little "bigger" than the average female pop singer, and I'm perfectly fine with that. Haley was gone either this week or next regardless. Phil the Stalker is done this week...
-
she's fucking gorgeous, that's why! Also, she was kinda slutty. Blake was good, everyone else was pretty bad. I still don't get the Jordin love for her performances - she has tons of potential, but to me she always seems to do just enough to get by... ...oh shit, she's Rashad Evans.

Gomi vs. Diaz to be ruled no-contest
starvenger replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Hey this IS Nick Diaz we're talking about. I wouldn't be all that surprised. -

I meant Randy and Tim, actually. -

Yes, but presumably, Fedor isn't an overconfident idiot. -

I'm gonna assume that the Anchorman reference was "dirty pirate hookers". And I'm pretty sure that there's a rule requiring you to bitch and complain about being Yielded. And if it makes Danielle feel better, she's the best looking person to be Yielded twice. Not that there was fierce competition, but still... -
Consider it the equivalent of the Jim smirk, but with dickish intent plus an extra side of dickery. I can see Hughes going into a fight with Serra way overconfident.
