I'll be honest - I fell asleep watching this ep. I just couldn't get into it last night, and I think it's because of one of the "bad" things you noted - Rebecca Locke isn't a great character. It's never a good thing when your main character is kinda blah.

How does the T-NBC staple of "Wacky Scheme Going Awry" not make this list?

I think the M.O. is different though. On Bands Reunited you see a huge amount of effort in trying to get the bands to reunite. It is very much about the people, and not really about the songs that they sing at the end. On Hit Me Baby they seem to want the voice - and the rest of the band can come if they'd like. In a way it's a reflection of how modern music is - you can always recognize the vocalists but unless you're a fan, you're not going to know (or care) who the other guys are.

America loves retro.

Well, I managed to get a review up for last week, thanks to NBC rerunning this show instead of trying to build more of an audience for Scrubs and The Office or something. Because they pulled in such huge ratings last season that they don't need the help. [/sarcasm] And Vanilla Ice's "cover" was even worse the second time around...

So I guess Madden's hit for the cycle in terms of networks? I wonder how this affects EA?

I just finished reading "Comic Book Wars" and apparently Marvel doesn't have as much control over Blade and X-Men as all the other franchises - those deals were done during the Ron Perelman era. This of course leads to the question of what the fuck happened with Daredevil?

OK, now that I've read through the thing, it seems like they're taking source material from the cartoon (Rogue looking to get "cured") and Weapon X (Leech being used for something or other) as well as Whedon's current storyline. Other thoughts: - Cyclops buying it seems like a byproduct of the whole Singer-Fox thing. He could've just taken a leave of absence or something if they wanted Storm to lead. Speaking of which... - Storm with a different personality isn't unheard of. So if that's the direction they're taking, Halle Berry better be sporting a mohawk. - what the hell is a "six-day draft"? - Now I'm very interested in what Moriarty will think when he does get his hands on a draft of this thing. You misread that part a bit. 4 major characters either die or get demutantized. And so far, it looks like those are: Cyke, Prof X, Magneto and Mystique. Although Storm should probably get demutantized - it would go well with the mohawk.

To be fair, a poor script wouldn't be Ratner's fault. That would be like blaming the script on Chuck Austen. I'd agree. Although personally, I've never liked Gambit anyways.

You said that Avril Lavigne sang Breakaway. Why are you the person recapping this show again? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I only talked about her writing the song, not singing it. Give me some credit - I do put in about 5 minutes of research for this stuff... Genius that I am, I managed to tape CTS instead of NBC, so I only caught the last half (or so) of the show. I'm still looking for a torrent of it. But from what I saw: Haddaway, "Toxic" - eh. Tommy Tutone, "All The Small Things" - lacked a certain je ne sais quoi. The Motels, "Don't Know Why" - A good effort, but no. Vanilla Ice, "Survivor" - I'm not exactly sure what the hell that was. I think it was bordering on Fred Durst territory though.

Lamont Jordan is either gonna be big or bust. If you need a tight end, I'd say Putzier will probably be a nice surprise.

As nl5xsk1 said: And when it is over, I hope they get rid of those two.

Actually, I trust the creative team as well. What I don't trust is Fox to keep this show past the summer...

I'll be doing the live Amazing Race recap over on Inside Pulse starting tomorrow, so wish me luck. But for now, my predictions: 11 - Megan and Heidi. Die, hippies. 10 - Susan and Patrick. Can't see this parent/sibling duo going very far 9 - Uchenna and Joyce. I can see myself liking them, but I don't see them lasting too long. 8 - Debbie and Bianca. Once again, we will be disappointed with the chick team leaving early. 7 - Meredith and Gretchen - Taking a risk here, but these two look to be pretty good. Gretchen knows the flight lingo, and that could carry them. 6 - Ron and Kelly. Hey, you were a POW. I still don't have to like you. 5 - Ryan and Chuck. Knowing Portugese could be a huge advantage. And seeing these two reminds me that I still want to go to Cafe Nostra and meet Marshall and Lance 4 - Ray and Deanna. Not-always-dating couples seem to do ok on this show. 3 - Lynn and Alex. All I'm asking for is for these two to be normal guys who happen to be gay. And if that doesn't happen, I hope they're more blatantly gay than Cha Cha Cha. No Chip and Reichen, please. 2 - Romber. I'm thinking that, being fans of the show, they should know what's coming. Amber will surprise us, and Rob will do his best, as we saw during ASS. 1 - Brian and Greg. Not knowing how the Race works could be their downfall. Then again, they seem like they could go all the way, so they're my pick to win.

Profiler crossed with L&O: Criminal Intent maybe?

I wouldn't call Whammy bad, but it just doesn't have the appeal of the original. Overuse of the Whammy gimmick, maybe?

Why do I have "Life is a Highway" in my head now?

Were the two idiots present at the meeting? Because if they weren't, I could see this getting sunk...

According to my brother it's a pain just to get INTO The Price Is Right. Lucky for you, he blogged it

He was the guy who hosted the MMA newsmagazine show, and would intro/outro fights and such. At the time, noone else was doing this stuff (although MMA guys would show up on OTR on occasion) so I figure that you had to have some passion for MMA to be associated with it on the network. Anyways, when ESPN hired him, I think that there was some talk (by Zelkovich at the Toronto Star) that they were looking to go that way. But this is ESPN, so who knows?

Didn't Glenallen Hill hurt himself because he had a nightmare about spiders? Or am I mixing that up with Juventud Guererra's Australian adventure?
-
It's funny. They hired David Amber away from TSN in part because he was their MMA guy on the staff. Now he shows up every once in a while on SportsCenter...

I'm getting District X. And the New Warriors mini doesn't exist, as far as I'm concerned. It just sounds horrible.

I tend to agree. Monster's Ball was the exception, not the rule. But she'll be back for the paycheck. Even if they did Powerless Mohawk Storm, Berry will be back.

Wasn't John Woo doing a remake?
