Terribly inaccurate wrestling predictions you made

I thought Flair would beat Hogan at Havoc 94 because there was no way WCW would let a long-time WWF guy go over a near lifelong WCW guy in a retirement match on PPV. Never underestimate the power of Hogan in finishes that make no sense. Why didn't it make sense for Hogan to win? You're talking about a match between the two best wrestlers of the era. WCW signed Hogan to be their main guy so why wouldn't Flair "pass the torch" to Hogan? Hogan getting a win (or several wins) over Flair, fine. You need main event guys having even feuds once in a while. But if: 1. You're running WCW 2. You've got Ric Flair, who has been the guy who represents WCW in the eyes of the fans. 3. You have Flair taking on Hulk Hogan, who was still seen as a WWF guy by most of the fanbase. 4. Your fans are booing Hogan despite there being no doubt that he's supposed to be the babyface in the feud. 5. You book the blowoff as a retirement match. Logical booking is you'd put the long-time WCW guy over the long-time WWF guy. This was such a smart move that when Nitro first went on the air, WCW literally used to give away Hulk Hogan T-shirts with the stipulation "you have to wear it if we give to you" to make it look like Hogan was seen by WCW fans as the top babyface and Flair was still getting larger pops than Hogan in a lot of towns after his comeback started. WCW/NWA fans always cheered for heels, especially Flair. I see your point, though.

    Slash

The stories of drug abuse do get a bit tedious. But, the most interesting parts of the book are how the GnR was formed, where the songs came from, etc. Also, his Mom used to date David Bowie which I thought was interesting. The book should definately come with a warning label.

    What are you watching?

Lately I've been catching up on recent WWE DVD releases. I watched the Warrior DVD last weekend and am watching "Most Powerful Families" right now. The Warrior DVD was better than anticipated. They gave him the benefit of the doubt, at least. Bobby Heenan wasn't very fond of him, but for the most part the others interviewed spoke highly of him, just not from a business perspective. I thought what The Brooklyn Brawler said about Warrior's in-ring work was right on. Warrior's best matches were typically at SummerSlam and I thought the E should have included them, in addition to his match against Rude at WM5 and Slaughter at RR 91. Why not put some Dingo Warrior matches on there or the Halloween Havoc match against Hogan? All in all, the bonus matches were dissappointing.

AFC Championship: The San Diego Chargers vs.

I remember feeling this way You can lose it without knowing You wake up and you don't notice which way the wind is blowing -Tom Petty I felt the same way about the Cowboys in the 90's. It's nice to be on the other side of the fence.

Worst Excuse for a Face Turn

Speaking of Jamie Noble, is he becoming a face now or is Chuck Palumbo becoming a heel? Answer: They are they both going to be off the show in a month and everyone will forget it ever happened.

Evil, maniacal asshole? That's great. I can just picture Kraft, Belichick, and "Boy Wonder" Brady in the owner's box, drinking scotch, and concocting their evil game plans the night before a game. WaHaHaHaHa!! Oh yeah, and the game officials, the NFL commissioner, George W. and Dick Cheney would be there, too.

People in Massachussettes do suck. They are a poor representation of New England. But, two wrongs don't make a right alfdogg.
  15. Personally, I think Belichick is great because of his media presence and because he's brought the Patriots so far from where they were when I first started watching them in 1990. But, isn't it possible that it's not just Belichick, but the orginization as a whole, that has brought success to New England? If so, you could say that Belichick is overrated. Would the Dolphins have gone undefeated this year if Belichick was coaching them?
  16. Have you accepted Coach Belichick as your personal lord and saviour?

The alledged Randy Savage ban from WWE.

Seeing that no one takes the WWE HOF seriously, I don't think it has any impact on his legacy. OOH Yeah...Dig it...If anything, it takes away from their Hall by not having him in there.

    Recent Purchases

My favorite song on Time out of Mind is "Hearts in the Highlands." I think these are all great albums. I recently borrowed "Planet Waves" from the library. It's got some good stuff, I thought. I got Sebastian Bach's new CD "Angel Down" for Christmas. It definately has the 80's feel with a modern edge. I wanted it because Axl Rose sings on it, but I was pleasantly suprised by the rest of the album.

    Moments that irritated you

Understandable. It seems the WWE did that to a lot of people. I still think Head and Shoulders winning a match is one of the worst things to ever happen in wrestling and I'm glad I didn't see it. Did Tazz expect a good push when he went to WWE or in the back of his mind did he want to retire from the ring? It seems that when he left ECW that was the straw that broke the camel's back. I could see McMahon luring him in, telling him he was going to make him I-C champ right away, but really just intending on killing ECW.
