Greatest Wrestler to never win a World Singles title
blue2 replied to Undertaker's Urn's topic in General Wrestling
Da Bad Guy- Scott Hall , preferably as Razor Ramon -
For the most part Memphis is just low-rent and so deeply southern-fried that it could only be tolerated in small doses. It was racial. Outside of Lawler the wrestling wasnt great. They had some of the stupidest, lamest gimmicks ever conceived and they had this horrible penchant for siphoning all the talent out of their heels so that they were all cookie-cutter bastard types that had to rely on cheating to win. The glass ceiling was built into their infrastructure. Memphis was either for washouts and local rednecks or for guys who were up and coming and would leave before they arrived because the conditions were so bad. Its sad to hear over and over that guys were just starving there. Yeah, but a lot of guys learned how to work, and personally I think Southern style rocks my socks. I guess it depends on your taste. What types of wrestling do you like?

Thank you so much MGFan!!! You are ICHIBAN!!!

Hey Mos Def, why are you not so partial to Old School Memphis? Just wondering, as that is considered one of the greatest periods/eras in wrestling history.

workers who get called great but you disagree

Yeah, I'd agree. His character work in the later days was spectacular; it's a shame that the crash neutered his in ring ability. A Brian Pillman with the workrate of '92-'95 with his 1997 character would have drawn huge in a feud with Austin. I'd even go so far as to say that the "Loose Cannon" character is the most convincing wrestling psychopath character of all time. Hes got to be up there for sure. But I would put Bob Backlund above him. -
From a match standpoint, it was not that good. From a perspective of building heat, it was. I think he should have dropped the IC title. A Dibiase heel run could been awesome. Plus a Steamboat run could have been great with Dibiase on top.

Thank you for the analysis. But in your opinion Thread Killer, I heard Mike Awesome say in a shoot interview with Highspots, that Kobashi was the better worker, when Mike was with AJPW( I think around 97) Would you agree with that statement? -

Well I have a question for you. Why was Misawa given the ball over everyone else? In other words, why was he the top dog? -

Ok. Here is my reason. Is he talented and good? Yes? But theres nothing that draws ME to him. I think Kawada and Kobashi put more effort in their matches. Now have I watched a lot of his stuff? No, and actually I dug his Tiger Mask days. Now can I argue with sucess? No. He did have great matches. But great matches do not make you great. He is capable of a great match. Now with the Observer and the Gordy system..... honestly, its just a magazine. A magazine shouldnt influence your opinion. You should take it into consideration, but to me, its just a magazine. But to be honest. Im not that into Japanese wrestling anyway, but eh. I think at one point he was very good, but I do not consider him great. I would also disagree on your stance on Misawa/Kobashi to the best fued of all time. Now maybe I shouldn't have overeacted, but this is my honest opinion on the former Tiger Mask 2. -

For ME. HE IS NOT GREAT. HE IS TALENTED BUT I AM NOT INTO HIM. Jeez, learn some manners and respect others opinion. -
Wrestler/Belt Combos That Didn't or Wouldn't Look Good
blue2 replied to ChrisMWaters's topic in General Wrestling
OH I forgot. Flair's IC title run was an abomination. Never should have beaten Carlito at Unforgiven 05. -

Danielson, in the ring is awesome, but he lacks a look and personality. Bret, I like but sometimes he has no facials. Flair was great, but was no technician. I guess my pick is.............. Misawa -
It might be in bad taste(the Owen joke). But if Bret was there..........

Saw the 9-1-08 edition. good 2/3 falls match, but I would have had Nikita gone over on the 1st fall.

It was Eric B's car that the booger was on. HMMM. Jim Mitchell has some great stories. His Kanyon and Kevin Sullivan impressions are hillarious.

Samoa Joe beating Daniels and Styles to bloody pulps.

Eddie disagrees with you. Yeah it was his idea, and because of it, JBL is pretty credible.
-
I think Eddie should have went over JBL in 04 and kept his belt

WWF- I think the Attitude era comes quicker, with a few changes though. Newer stars come in late 90s WCW- Same staleness, but I think Hogan would have left by the late 90s. Possibly some newer stars I agree with Diamonddust though.

Canada had something to do with it, but the rest of your post, to me, is accurate and also supercedes where it was. I know this is a continually-beaten, long-dead horse, but it's not like he didn't offer options or anything. It's not like he said "I'm keeping my title, and that's that." No. Hart would job to HBK, just not in Canada. So it was both factors. HBK in America? Sure. HBK in Canada? No. Anyone else? Probably. He wouldnt have jobbed to HBK period, because of what HBK said to him 3 weeks prior. Hart would have lost in Canada. But thats what Hart has said. HBK has a WHOLE different story. I cant buy the whole "I WONT LOSE IN CANADA" thing. Sorry but my opinion
-
As far as Hart and HBK at SS97. Hart would have jobbed to anyone and their mom wherever, except HBK and probably HHH. Canada had nothing to do with it.

Anyone know what happened to Johnnie Stewart? Wouldnt be suprised if Candido watched him a lot.
