F4W/WON WWE Notes - September 9th - 15th

I'm not sure about that review, but I will say that the film won top prize at the Venice Film Festival just a few days ago, and it's receiving quite a bit of buzz within the industry. Yea I've seen all very good reviews from critics. Critics and I dont mesh well. I was hoping to see some wrestling fans point of view on the movie. By that do you mean you like steaming piles of shit for movies? If by that ya mean most movies critics love are steaming piles of shit...then yes. And for the record, most critics heap praise upon movies that seem to be artsy films meant for film school students who give a shit about how beautiful a shot is. Me myself? I dont give a shit about that. -

I really don't think it was bad booking. It really depends where they go I guess. Theres quite a few ways. Does HBK help Punk defeat Jericho in the cage....throwing gas on the HBK/Y2J fued? HBK said he wasn't done with Jericho. That would be the ultimate thing HBK could do to Jericho. It also keeps the lucky underdog CM Punk angle going. I'd go with a bloodied Punk in the liontamer....screaming,bleeding, not giving up maybe passing out as hbk enters....hbk gets in the cage....jericho turns around and gets superkicked...and hbk drags punk on to jericho for the win. Punk gets the Steve Austin "I'm a tough SOB" and wouldnt tap deal going...remember how great a visual that was? And also gets the title back in a lucky way.....all while putting the hbk/jericho angle heat way over the top..........Yea its hotshotting the title...but with a purpose. Punk can go on to fued with the nexgen stable 1 by 1 until Orton is ready for action.....then lose the title to him by stable interferance or something will it happen....prolly not lol...will prolly just be a no contest or something since i doubt punk loses before the big orton fued

Care to enlighten me on the whole "if they are from Louisville, Punk got buried" thing..

I have friends in the indy business, a couple of decent name guys, one currently in TNA. I myself was trained by Steve Bradley who was in OVW and WWE was high on him for awhile. I believe he was a part of the camp Edge and Angle came out of and Teddy Hart got himself fired for the 1st time. Oh trust me.....there's some awesome stories he tells about that camp. Anyhow, I no longer work but I still tag along to shows, dinner and whatever else when I'm invited and there are shows in the area. I've been out in groups with Punk on probably a dozen occassions and have never seen him drink, smoke or do much of anything other than be a cocky bastard, in a tongue in cheek way which is prolly why at 1 point he was constantly in the WWE dog house. Now? Who knows, maybe he does. Prolly not though. He was very non chalant about it all. Not one of those hardline straightedgers at all. As a matter of fact he encouraged people, since he always drove. He was the sober dude egging everyone on.
-
uh..the Orton fued is obviously still on and he has a cage match with Jericho next week. I'd say yes, he failed a test
-
I think Batista has turned into a pretty decent big man. He's come a looong way.
-
Rey looks to be in the best shape he's been in in a few years......doesn't look like a pudgy midget. Hopefully he can step it up a tad again.
-
Hmm Punk/Jericho in a cage. This will either end in Punk looking like a chump... HBK keeping his promise of not being done with Jericho and costing him the title... Or a big clusterfuck of Punk, Jericho,HBK, Orton, Cryme Tyme, Priceless and Manu cross pollenating fueds In other words...who knows.

isnt flair's son under contract...is he still too green?

Good. That "kick of doom" shit is some of the worst stuff they've ever passed off as something dangerous. To a wrestling fan, a kick to the head doesn't mean anything, so therefore Punk looks weak by not at least trying to be in the match. And even though I throw the term "buried" around a lot, Punk will end up doing nothing out of this, as he will lose the feud to Orton, and then what, get a shot at Jericho? He'll lose that too. Punk isn't one of those guys that WWE takes the title off of, and then pushes after it. It doesn't matter what you think of the kick. Fact is, it's over as a career ending move. They started it in the the middle of the big concussion controversy in sports and it worked. John Cena's finish is way less dangerous looking than a punt to the head....alot of moves are. They are over anyway. And if Punk loses the fued to Orton...it doesnt really matter as long as it's a good program and Punk isnt made to look like a chump. Randy Orton being the biggest heel in the company can make Punk into a top face for the forseeable future regardless of Punk winning or losing. Steve Austin lost matches to Savio Vega on the way to fueding with Bret Hart....and oh by the way, losing the fued essentially. And no...nobody go crazy. In no way am I comparing the 2 other than 2 say for a babyface, the chase sometimes pays of more than the payoff of winning the match/fued. And yea....Punk will get the title again some day. He got his run and management was very satisfied according to Meltzer. Just like Edge, Punk will get it again.

Not sure Afa will fit the bill. He looked pretty tiny other than being fat. If they arent gonna go the samoan savage route again(and obviously they arent) I think he will flop. It's a shame Teddy Hart fired, he'd have fit nicely. What an idiot. And yes, I've come to this conclusion after seeing Afa just once lol
-
They need a big bruising enforcer type. Who fits that bill and is a 2nd/3rd generation wrestler?
-
For the people thinking Punk got buried...how exactly? The Randy Orton "Kick of Death" has been put over for a long time as a career ender. Regardless of how bad Jericho was beaten....that kick of Orton's has been ending people on TV for what? 1 year...2 years? If Punk came out after that and kept his title, any and all build up the kicked has recieved as a "career ender" is flushed down the toilet. Punk should stay off of TV tonight, come back next week, and since Orton supposedly isn't cleared to wrestle yet, Punk can run through the NexGen stable until he finally gets to Orton. Hopefully we can see angry/aggressive CM Punk rather than "I love competition" CM Punk. As for the fued itself, Orton kind of has to beat Punk in the long run...unless they pro-long the fued and have more than 1 match. Maybe Orton can win an initial contest or 2 with help and lose the blow-off in a gimmick match. But if done correctly.....not that I have faith they will....Punk can come out of this way more over than he was when he held the title. Jericho may be the best heel but Orton is the most hated right now in my eyes. I think they have no choice but to build Punk even more. The top RAW babyface's are Batista...Mysterio...and Punk...and obviously HBK when he's in the mix. No way this was a burial.

Hi guys, new to the board. Anyway, I remember when this NextGen stable was rumored Punk's name was thrown around as a possibility. I wonder if there's a chance of that still. I'd rather see Punk form his own stable....possibly of guys like him who came up from scratch who unlike him never got a real shot at stardom. Could be the making of a nice fued between them and the 2nd/3rd generation silver spooners. I'd love to see some legit stables, it's been awhile.
